At least you've read the book, but i do have to say, it wasn't originally relesed under the title Eine Abrechnung , it was going to be the 41/2 years one, but was shortened to Mein Kampf.
and also calling him the worst leader in history is a very small minded person.
yes, he initiated a mass genocied,
but what about the work he did for Germany before that?
He brought them out of what would have became a terribly depression, and he did so much for his country. His writing is interesting, and a great read if you are an intellectual that enjoys reading historical novels.
If you are a simple-minded person that can not tolerate 'dry' reading, then i guess it would be considered boring to you.

I Beg To Differ

I feel that your views have been influenced by the fact that hitler was probably the worst leader in the modern era. The fact that he was a proponent of a such a heinous ideology is a proof of that. However, the judgement of his book should not be made by viewing it through a veil of already formed opinions of his wrongdoings.
Agreed that his book too reflects his ideology of anti-Semitism and endorses it, this alone however does not qualify one to pass a final judgement on the book. Mein Kampf had a lot more than just controversial and fanatical writing. Whatever his views be, the way in which he put them forth across the reader is quite impressive. The fact that the book might have led to an undercurrent of fanaticism in Turkey, itself underlines the quality and force of his writing, since selling a "wrong" idea to "right"eous people surely requires a strong command over words and an equal measure of guile.

relevance of Hitler.

Yes, this had not been a very good book to read. But it has not lost it's readership, nor it's political relevance. it is only as bad as any propaganda book, including any of the communist propaganda.

But it's value lies in the correct analysis of communism and identifying the essentially anti-national character of the communism. and what is written about the methods of communists of Germany in those days, largely holds true for the communists of India today.

I really don't think you can classify any art work as bad or good. Beauty lies in the eye of the beholder. But is it a well written book? That is the question. I mean what are we scared of? If they are the rantings of a madman they will stay just that. But if he has a point there will be a lot of people he will appeal to. Movies like Silent Lamb have a murderer the protagonist. But that doesn't turn all their viewers into cannibilistic maniacs. Let's have some faith in ourselves to be able to choose what is good or bad "for us" without fearing everything that seems slightly scary.

Worst book

Hey,

Stop being hyper-reactive. You have got nothing to do with Hitler. In fact none of the Indians have nothing to do with him. The Germans were as bad imperialists as the British.

So, the attempt to be lauded by the US press & Americans should not be made by Indians who still have that Slave-like attitude.

Disagree with you completely.

Hi Nilanjana,

Well, your article offers some good insights, but I do not completely agree with you. Why be judgmental about 'burying' the bad book? Let those who read it judge it for themselves.

Do you know every kid in the 2nd grade in Germany is taken to the Dachau concentration camp. Why? Not because they are proud of it. Not because it's a historical site. Simply, because it should make every person understand and realize how very bad a human being could be, to cause such mass destruction. So that everyone is given that shock value, that take it easy- do NOT go in the direction in which Hitler went.

And I have more to write, but need to get back to work.

Cheers,

Don't misunderstand the book.

Dear Writer,
Although you have scripted a good portray of the book,i fully oppose the attitude with which you have written your last line.
Hitler in itself is still s mystery for many researchers.I have read "Mein Kampf" and also "The Rise & the Fall of the third Reich".I am not a supporter of Hitler, but you must appreciate his attitude, his skills in oratory and writing. He was not a bad writer, but a writer with wrong attitude.Had he been a bad writer,Mein Kampf would not have been sold the quantity it has been, taking into account post World war2 period.I have not read "My experiments with the truth" and will never ..in my life. That book has never attracted me,but yes...Mein Kampf has.
The achievements of Hitler, considering the fact what crisis Germany was going through, after the First World war..are really astonishing.
To the views such a man, when he was in prison and that when he predicted some of his plans atleast 12 or 14 years ago before implementing them, are unbelievable.
If the writer is bad,i will never get this book on the streets of Mumbai with so many copies...I will never support Hitler's deeds, but you accept it or not,he was a crowd puller.

Indeed the Ghost is dead

The literature that has been written in Mein Kampf is all and out fanatic thinking of adolf hitler. he believes in his principles and hated some sects. So whoever comes against his priciples had to face the brunt. What was here to be noted is that when a person has got power, and a fanatic mindset then who can save the world.

Lessons should be learnt from the history and there this book finds a place for teaching that fanaticism has got no place in this world.

This world belong to every one of us and we should be able to make it worth living with smiles on everyone's face irrespective of the sect and society one belongs to.
