Deductions on medical bills

tax exemption on medical expence done on cancer,

i am working in Govt. company , in which medi. reimburse scheme in force, but medi. reinmburse greater than 12000.00 is consdered as income and on which tax is calculated,should i get any tax benifit as i am spending on cancer treatment of my mohter.

Regarding the last Q (182 days)

Just because a person has not stayed for 182 days in the previous year, he does not become an NRI. There is another clause which I dont quite remember, but something like 365 days in the last 4 years or so. In any case, if the person has stayed in India always till Sept, he is definetely Resident and also Ordinarily resident.

So his global income will be treated taxable in India (unless there are double taxation agreements with the foreign country)
