Great article, should be made a must read
by Chaula on Mar 07, 2008 01:39 PM

That was a great article, thanks for taking ont this issue. Our office space is cramped and 25 people sit at a distance of half a foot from each other in a straight row. Its so annoying to have to hear a new ring tone each time...loudly blaring the stupidest of music. Even worse are the times we have to hear out their very loud conversations.

But its true everywhere else too...at theaters, restaurants everywhere...our Janta enjoys this mobile-talk-and-ring and gets a high from it. Hopefully, they'll learn some manners soon. Till then, guess we have to just grit our teeth and bear it, or politely tell them off.

although we, the Indians, are all party to this baaad cellphone etiquette, it was a good read. Enjoyed reading the piece....and cant afford to deny appreciating the sense of humor of the writer. It has given me some food for thought....though my gadget is on vibration for most part of the day...and i forget to set it on volume even wen i get back home. But itz true that some people aint as oblivious of their sets as me....and thus are a perennial threat to my everyday living!!

Good Article. A must read esp for college going kids
by Anu on Oct 03, 2004 02:10 AM  | Hide replies

A lovely article. manners in general and cell manners in particular are long forgotten by people and especially college goers who are always eager to sho-off theie latest cell model and newest ringtones. They must be told that nobody except their own girl/boyfriends are interested in getting an idea of their dad's bank balance.

RE:Mobile Use Manners
by another (good) phoner on Oct 14, 2004 02:25 AM
Dear Phoner,
Be aware that it is NOT ur right to express ur feelings whenever & wherever u r. In case u r found expressing ur lust, u r bound to be in Jail. Freedom doesnot mean carelessness. Just bcoz u have car, doesn't mean u can drive as u like. Sane ppl follow traffic rules. If u can spend 40K on a phone, u can as well GO to him/her and SHOW ur face. Unless there's a problem in showing ur face.

But i'm glad u took the time to post a message.

MOBile MANnerisms
by Ajay.B on Sep 14, 2004 02:11 PM

The article trully indicates the way cell phones are misused.A mobile is a personal belonging and the ringtone is supposed to inform only the phone owner about the incoming call.Often the ringtone is clearly audible, and annoying to everybody disturbing the entire scenario.
The 8 points described in the article clearly serve as the guidelines for every responsible cell phone user.Hope the scenario changes quickly and every cell phone user takes the oath to follow the guidelines.

cell manners
by gouri ramani on Sep 14, 2004 01:16 PM

its high time people educate themselves on cell etiquette before flaunting off their newly acquired asset. In fact, loud ringing of cell phones in public should be a punishable offence, just like while driving. It is specially annoying to hear people yanking off in a closed AC chair car compartment on the Railways. this should be also banned.
