impractical ideas

please go out and see the family business...work culture you would realise how far the reality is from these ideas. companies dont take HR as tool of strategic importance .
unless that happens we would be losing our top people

Stresses at job making work for you.
by Shekhar Kahate on Dec 29, 2004 12:17 PM

Dear Sir,
I have gone through your article on the subject. In today's scenario assuming repsonsibilites is becoming more important. The question for good education is just while one gets employed. Where is the question of skills?. I hope quite a lot of people will be experiencing the same.

Thanks & Regards,

Shekhar Kahate

HR Practices
by Atul Jadham on Sep 07, 2004 06:58 PM

I think these HR practices are not very much in practice. They still need experiments & research. Employers are afraid of taking a chance for their companies. Stable companies can practice this as a part of their R&D.

variable incentive
by balaji iyengar on Sep 07, 2004 12:12 PM

my employer employs the system of monthly evaluation by name variable incentive. the scheme pays part of your package depending on your, your dept and your companies sale performance. so if your sales people are not working then you lose your earning no matter even if you are a peon or a clerk.
further you will lose it if you leave the firm during the year.
these acts as a disincentive to hard workers and infact drives out the initiative out of you.

and these things are never clarified while giving you the appointment letter.
it is always a win win situation for the employers.

New HR trends

Unfortunately today in a bid to foil tax collection attempts, companies offer a pay package where a portion is to be claimed by submitting bills. The fake bills, for there is no other way to describe it, are a work of creative art. My suggestion is to get past this method and approach the issue in a more mature manner. Why cant a better solution be provided rather than increase paper work in the form of storing these bills both for the employer and employee.

Second, dissatisfaction in an organization starts with wrong pay to the wrong person. Employer's must have a clear cut explanation for the pay they offer and a justification if someone of similar experience and education is getting a different pay. Adam Smith's theory of comparison and worry over this affects the performance of the worker.
