PORD is risk free, (5years) monthly small savings scheme with no tax saving benifit.Presend rate of interest@7.5%compounded qarterly.RD accound started at any post office.Loan is available after one year.

It is an excellent article to educate the layman about investments. If you would have provided more info. regarding PPF and mutual funds write up could have helped several readers like me. Anyway GREAT effort. Cudos for Rediff team.
