by Ali Vajeeh on May 30, 2009 01:03 PM  Permalink

Dear sir,
I am impressed by Mr. Obama when he said he will not give any tax relief to companies outsourcing. we are one of the biggest recievers to this gesture shown by Mr. Obama. Lets return this in the same way by telling the US companies to pay taxes for using indian mind and land for their profit.
I would like to bring this to focus to our PM.
please take some action towards this action from US or other countries may follow giving us a real pain.

e-Governance Portpolio
by Govinda g on May 29, 2009 03:36 PM  Permalink

Dear Sir,

Many Departments across the state and the country are taken lot of IT initiatives to stream line their services/functions. Most of them are non-talktive and some times redundent initiatives costing crores of rupees for development and maintenance. Such initiatives were not developing in Govt Departments keeping next ten years in vision and interoperability across the other Govt departments. In other words, IT initiatevs are lacking in vision in terms of technology and functionality. There is an urgent need to establish an e-Governance department headed by a cabinet level minister which takes care of all departments IT initaiteves under one stop shop. The department needs to filled with IT speacilists and the functional specialists across from all the departments including adminstrators, legal experts etc. Which creates thousands of IT jobs with in the Government sector and helps the real guys who are interested in serving the nation/common man instead for $'s. This kind of initiative will save the thousands of crores of the Government money spending on piece meal type of IT initiatives.

This is just a suggestion.
Hope it will workout in near future

Bharat Operating System
by jayaram p on May 26, 2009 04:42 PM  Permalink

Bharat Operating System was released by M.Karunanidhi and Sonia Gandhi. It is free and works nicely with most hardware.
If the minister of IT has not ensured its implementation all over the country in government offices his capacity to implement anything useful is limited. This is a severe disciplinary problem.
If he has implemented it he should be appreciated

Empower Indian IT industry
by Srinivas R on May 24, 2009 05:16 PM  Permalink

Bargain in the international level to get more power to our IT industry in terms of pricing, protecting the employee base, encouraging innovations etc. The developed world needs India's help in IT but we are acting like their slaves and listening to whatever they command. This should change. This can change only when govt acts responsibly to foreing policies in this sector.

Improving or implementing company labour laws
by Radha Chaudhary on May 24, 2009 04:30 PM  Permalink

Dear Sir,

The business model of the IT company is such that it is primarily centered on employing manpower for servicing foreign clients. Therefore the selection of manpower and their utilization is the key. The culture of manpower fulfilment in IT companies are having lots of fradulant practices of bias and regionalism / cartelism etc. It is almost like Satyam situation in most of our existing companies in the name of control over the company. Companies encourage fair practise only upto certain level beyond that the problem starts.
Suggest this must be contained or removed thru labour laws. The senior position must be faught on talents rather than manupulations otherwise it sets negative thought process in many capables who are not better regionwise placed.

Computer virus can create more troubles
by INDERJEET RISHIRAJ on May 23, 2009 02:20 PM  Permalink

The IT is not a child's play. It needs very careful handling else we are going to invite unpredicted disasters. It is the backbone of the communication system. Our intelligence will fail if we can't keep the secrecy of communication. There should be a core group of IT experts with a responsibility to assist and monitor the IT activities of the country. We should be having computer virus fighting machinery on the line of fire fighting system, a master computer to monitor the health of all operational computers, to protect them from the enemies. This facility should be free for the public even for their personal computers as the computer virus can hide at any computer. In the coming times these virus can create more troubles than the terrorist attacks.

Remember that the history tells us that those who could handle the technology of their time in a better way, remained the masters. There was a time of swords and arrows, of guns, tanks, planes, satellites and nuclear arms. Now, it is the time of computers and IT, which luckily suits the Indian brains.

Information Technology and Infrastructure Development
by Achyut Agnihotri on May 23, 2009 01:13 PM  Permalink

Apart from the 3 Basic Needs viz. Food , Shelter and Clothing , the 4th need of 21st century is employment.
Instead of concentrating all the Software / IT / Call Centre kind of business only in the 7 or 8 Cities of the country . loading them thereby on their Civic amenities , Shelter ,Transperency in Business , utilisation of the natural Resources in these 7 or 8 Cities , if the Govt. can look at taking this Industry in other Major Cities of various States acroos the country , this shall eliminate the hoards of people flocking only to Delhi or Mumbai or Bangalore or Hyderabad or Pune or Chennai or Kolkata or Gurgaon.
Let us all accept thefact these Cities have their Limits of Geographical Area as well as Natural Resources to accomodate the Number of People getting into these Cities.
Moreover ,by shifting this kind of Business Segment to other Major Cities will also lead in development of that area , necessary Infrastructureand facilities like Water , Power , Communiaction ,and Conveyance , thereby helping he country , in overall to have al across development and ample Job Opportunites to the Locals as well.

freedom of cyberspace and the ordinary man
by Raghavendra Bhat on May 23, 2009 05:47 AM  Permalink

Discounting the IT Ministry as lowly would be foolhardy and expensive. All decisions made by the IT Ministry will have a direct impact on the lives of the commoner. Computing freedom has to be treasured as it will save the GoP scarce money which could be used elsewhere. To preserve the soul and "integrity" of India and to free us from all 'lock-ins', freedom in 'cyberspace' will become highly essential. The nation as a whole has to fear vendor lock-in and crippled computing infrastructure hardware.
