I find a ray of hope in Jayaprakash Narayan. he quit an attractive position in civil services. He is very strong conceptually and straight forward in his communication. The ppl like Chiru need to take a lesson from this type of leaders

Same here! I too voted for Lok Satta coz that is the only party that practiced what it preached as far as fighting elections are concerned. No liqor, no money, no bribes. Simple canvassing - only handbills, and in spite of getting only one seat in assembly, he has already done a lot of service, and not waiting to win more seats to do some good to society. Wish more ppl would support him ! My auto driver says that he had decided to vote for Dr. Jayprakash, but near the booth TD activists bought him a bottle of arrack which is why he voted for TD. Such things will surely be big blocks in the way of Dr. Jayprakash unless the educated middle class decide to vote en masse for him.

As long as illiteracy is significant, we will see parties like Lot Satta suffering. All major parties will resort to vote buying tactics. The people should be sincere in rejecting such offers.

What we need is dedicated work, low cost campaigning (and compulsory voting?), not bribes to voters which in turn makes the politicians corrupt.

Take VRS Mr Chiru
by abboral boral on May 24, 2009 12:07 PM

Mr Chiru ,Politics is not your cup of tea .Take VRS and start your original duty of film making .There is great difference in reel and real life .Politics is not easy to aquire ,you need lot of hard work like spending 2 to 3 years in villages where 70% people are living with out development .So I advise you to stay in villages and do real work of developments in Rural India and in your case it is rural AP .You and your party is nothing by creation of Media only which is unreal

by Jack Ripper on May 24, 2009 11:42 AM

Someone pls remind chiru, that u cant revamp a party that is only 2 months old. I think chiru assumed the janta in AP is idiot enough to vote for him. I think people in AP & the country as a whole have grown up since NTR & MGR days...

Sell PRP to someone
by Vizagian on May 24, 2009 11:37 AM  | Hide replies

PRP made all low caste people shameful. It is not a party but a property. Till Mr.Anjaneya reddy was there, I had good feelings, but now I understood why he left the party. The family of PRP behaved so badly beyond imagination. Or my biggest doubt the CEC Mr.Chawla might have played all his professional tricks to bring back congress. Whatever, before chiru try to commit suicide, he better sell the party as it is to someone else.

Chiru made a booty thanks to the political awatar. He had received huge party funds from casteist NRIs and busines ppl across the coastal AP. I think, at least his 10 generations can live happily

I am glad that Chiranjeevi has lost in one constituency while his party got less than 20 seats. Its a slap on his face by public who have observed how he and his brother-in-law sold tickets. He has done nothing for his native village after becoming hero in tollywood and making hundreds of crores. Its shame on people who are supporting him

What BJP should do now?
by tali on May 24, 2009 11:21 AM

BJP should go back to its roots. If it is sincere in implementing Ram Jamnmabhoomi and destroy other shameful places ,hindooos will give a thumping majority as they did for Vajpayeeji. The day it started showing flexibility to terror communities,BJP supporters got disappointed.
Only leaders like Varun and Modi can take that job of reviving unaplogetic hindutuva.

Praja Rajyam . . .
by MUKUL GARG on May 24, 2009 09:48 AM  | Hide replies

Chiru should consdider merging PRP either with BJP or with Congress as per his ideology, if any. There already exists a sea of smaller outfits which are causing havoc in this country. This year's election results have, however, indicated frustration and disappointment of the people with smaller parties which have no ideology and no plan except to pursue the personal agenda of their owners. Chiru too has joined the casuality list that figured Deve Gowda, Mulayam, Mayawati, Chandrababu with the exceptions of Mamata and Navin. People with inflated egos, limited vision and with high greed can not go too far in long term.

Well said. But these people are there not to serve the country and it's people but to fill their personal coffers. I believe they know what is good for them not don't give a damn about the country or it's people. I think voters did a good job in this election. I believe BJP will learn from this election and becomes more center and more secular. That is the only way it can beat congress.

Organization Structure and Internal Discipline Needed
by Venkat Manthripragada on May 24, 2009 09:44 AM

There is a major shift in the way people behave these days as there is more and more to see, listen and read to understand the games people in politics play. The historic relevance of MGR and NTR were different. They belong to the era when we do not have enough information in the public domain to formulate opinions. Shivaji Ganeshan or Vijayakanth or Ambareesh were not less popular figures in southern entertainment industry but could not repeat the magic what MGR and NTR could bring up.
Very relevant point which Chiranjivi also pointed out is - need for ownership of party ideals and strong organization structure.
Even Loksatta could not make its mark as they started late and could not showcase a strong party strucutre. It appeared like a union of intellectuals trying to work towards improvement of the society and public life rather than a team headed by a leader commanding complete control over the organization. Had PRP or Loksatta started a year ahead and create whole structure with little more care they would have made major difference. Congress in AP got a decline in overall voteshare as public had a clear dislike towards corruption and marketing of incomplete works as completed projects. But Congress showed great charecter by not criticising the opposition bitterly and discipline of following one leader. Strong org structure and disciplined team following the leader are two critical factors for managing a government. Parties that show these charecters can give confide
