THE BEST OPTION
by sethu madhavan on May 22, 2009 02:03 PM

The best option for congress would be to dislodge the 18 seat stake of DMK, quit alliance with it and gradually make up for this up though independents.

It is suffering for the effrontery it displayed before elections by trying to rope in the cunning, machiavellian nitish kumar who is a part of evil set up of BJP under the pretext of "secularism".

DMK betrayal
by Devils Advocate on May 22, 2009 02:02 PM

DMK has shown its true colors untimately, being a party of family , kith and kin. Atleast for the kind of respect for Kalaignar among people, it should have worked out some amicalble solution diplomatically behind curtains. Esp., when the electoral results were surprisingly different and the people of TN have continued to show faith in them, DMK should have down played the difference with UPA and ensured it was all for stability at center and state without much ado. This is not a time for allowing any difference with centre , esp. on ministeral posts when a
constructive alliance was just beginning which would have worked well for TN.
But it is very clear that DMK wants to get lot of things done for TN by getting specific portfolios in their hands. This will enable them to accomplish some of the immediate and mid term items in their agenda that will root for their future in the next assembly elections . If DMK allows this rift to continue and further develop , it will lead to
disastrous results in TN. DMK has another big issue to deal with , ie handling azhagiri and his loyalists in south TN. If kalaigner is unable to convince center and get the required post for azhagiri, it may cause tremors within the party which is long expected. Azhagiri and his loyalists would once again up their lungis in streets of madurai and adjoining towns and shown their dissent . This is one situation that every one is DMK wants to avoid that will create a turmoil within the
party

IT IS LEARNT THAT PAWAR AND PATEL OF NCP ARE BACK IN THEIR AGRICULTURE AND CIVILA AVIATION MINISTRY.

PAWAR WILL CONTINUE TO MAKE MONEY BY MAKING POLICIY ANNOUNCEMENTS OF COMMODITIES AT STRATEGIC TIMES SO MONEY CAN BE MADE.
NATIONAL AIRLINES WERE PURPOSELY ALOWED TO GO DOWN THE DRAIN TO BE SOLD OFF CHEAPLY IN THE EARLIER STINT. NOW THEY WILL FINISH THE AGENDA AND HUNDREDS OF CRORES WILL BE RAKED IN. MOST LIKELY AIRLINES WIL BE SOLD TO SOMEONE HAVING ACCESS TO FOREIGN FUNDS.

imagine all non congress parties deciding to form a government...well it is possible...provided bjp lends its support....possible but difficult..try it in the interest of keeping congi out of power ..need sharad pawar and the wolves to rule india rather than the cunning jackal congi

Its impossible.....NCP, TMC, Ajit Singh all Congress offshoot.....If they are combined 240 comes.....Congress will take lalu and Mulayam in that case.....This vote is overwhelmingly by, for and of the Congress party....

Another Masterstroke
by Argumentative Indian on May 22, 2009 01:13 PM

From the master strategist.

MKK, figured out the smartest way to maintain status quo, was to make a weird demand, which the Cong rejects, go back to his family and say, sorry guys I tried but, HOWEVER, to make up, I am not joining the government, will support from outside.

This way the favours continue, if things go right, I supported them, if things go wrong, well we knew all along and so did not become a part of this government.

Inclusive Politics
by Jaichand on May 22, 2009 01:10 PM  | Hide replies

IMHO, Congress which claimed the term INCLUSIVE POLITICS, must give cabinet berths to:

1. Vijakanth
2. Raj Thackeray
3. Chiranjeevi

Without whom they would not be forming the government today.

Congress must be a GOOD party and practice Inclusive politics.
