Plea to Congress/Secular party Pls do not divide nation further
by balaji on May 21, 2009 07:35 PM  | Hide replies

On religion language north-south basis
Latest in the series of controversies centred on the Congress party’s fixation with Muslim grievances is the data collection exercise involving the Indian Armed Forces.
It is irrelevant and mischievous to mention about caste-based divisions in the Army during the British rule.
Congress leaders not only divided the country politically but also militarily. The military officers and men of pre-independence India , belonging to all communities fought the WWII together under the British.

Pakistan got a ready-made army at its birth. When Indian Muslims got Pakistan they also got a Muslim army carved out of the undivided Indian Army. This army produced Pakistani generals and officers who fought wars with India — the first full scale war being in 1965. This is history in living memory.

The Congress party having divided and ruled the country for decades is continuing with its dangerous game and monstrous thinking of doing a head count for the Army now.

rigging elections through EVMs.......
by abhinav on May 21, 2009 07:35 PM  | Hide replies

Noting that elections can be rigged through the EVMs if the software programmer who feeds data into the machines is in league with some vested interest, Dr. Choudhary said the EVM can be easily switched from normal to abnormal mode and then as reported with some machines the vote pressed in favour of one candidate would go in the favour of another.

Dr. Choudhary, who had also filed a public interest litigation in the Supreme Court said, the Court had also passed a directive stating that "in case the petitioner files a representation, the Election Commission may consider it". President of the Better Democracy Forum, he said his idea behind taking up the issue of checking rigging through EVMs was basically to prevent any electoral malpractices.

Of the view that the old system of use of ballot papers was better, Dr. Choudhury, who returned to India in February this year, urged the Election Commission to pick some of the machines during or immediately after counting for thorough check up - open to public - to ensure that they were not rigged or replaced by rigged ones or were behaving in a strange manner. However, he asserted, that the Election Commission appeared to be hesitant to the idea and was "trying to hide behind proprietary rights of the manufacturers of the EVMs".

Though Dr. Choudhury acknowledged that rigging through EVMs is not likely in the booths and it was only through software manipulation that the rigging can take place.

BJP lost ONLY because of: phoren money, soodo-secularism, vote rigging, Zulus and Martians.

NOT because the country rejected their reactionary platforms.

by Mogumbo on May 21, 2009 07:27 PM

The new government will come in power fair and square. Let us all support it and stop dragging it behind. After all it is our own India. The more we co operate, the better job they will do. But let them not promote Rahul or anybody else. He has to prove himself.

who can rig EVMs....only officals like Chawla.......
by abhinav on May 21, 2009 07:26 PM  | Hide replies

India's Supreme Court chose not to rule on a complaint filed by a computer scientist, concerned that the machines were not as "tamper-proof" as the government claimed. One critic, Frederick Noronha, worries that the government-run companies that manufacture the voting machines refuse to make the source code publicly available. "Abuse is possible merely because nobody quite understands how they work, apart from a handful of officials," says Nornonha.

A voting system, whether Indian or American, is only as honest as the officials running it. In other words, computers don't kill elections. People do. A well-designed machine can only minimize the chances for cheating, not eliminate them.
