Why BJP's Hinduism HAD backfired in Elections?
by New York on May 21, 2009 10:45 PM

Showing Muzlims,Chris tians, Minority Communities AND Pakistan as an excuse, BJP
tried polarized Hindus Votes VERSUS Rest of Communities Votes.

Post Babri, BJP did not FORESEE that propagating Hinduism will intrinsically IGNITE Casteism in India.

As per Mandal Commission, 54% Indians are BCs and 25% SC/STs.
And these Communities will eventually INSULATE themselves from BJP's Hinduism.

Hence BC/SC/ST leaders like Lalu, Mulayam, Paswan, and Mayawati, Uma Bharti have emerged.
Kumaraswamy, Naveen Patnaik, Nitish Kumar are also deserting BJP's Hinduism.

Nowhere in the article is mentioned Mr Chamling's SDF which won 32 out of the 32 seats in the sikkim assembly. 100% SUCCESS !Even on the election results day, there was hardly any mention of this amazing victory and total wipeout of the congress there. Totally ignore the event. How would a sikkimese feel when he watches the "national" news.......I bet he won't feel "INDIAN".

32 seats in Sikkim??? Are you kidding? The whole of the North East doesnt have more than 14 (maybe a little more) seats. Probably you mean assembly election.

VOTING TO BE ALLOWED ON LINE ALSO
by PS wa on May 21, 2009 04:23 PM

If voting allowed on line with password protected, most of the educated people can cast their votes from any where of world. Election commission has to think on this change, thereby voting rate can be brought up.

Evaluation of the performers
by swami pudipeddi on May 21, 2009 04:22 PM  | Hide replies

I feel the % arrived is wrong because it has been with reference to the seats contested and won. Instead there should be common level playing field to ascertain the correct % of the performance.
BSP is the best party because it contested the seats on its own and there are takers of the seats knowing fully well about thier strength in states accross the country other than UP. As she claimed her's is the third largest party leaving other so called strong parties behind. Unless two party alliance system comes and all the enlisted voters are forced to cast vote in the elections, there will not be any success of democracy without hypocrisy. The employees who get holiday to participate in polls generally abstain from voting. The employee should show some proof of their participation in voting. For this they can show their photo identity card to the employer and obtain an acknowledgment slip from the polling station/booth which can be lodged with the respective employer. This generates a responsibility of taking part in voting. BJP should introspect and change their local leaders by giving chance to youthful people who can contest in the next round of elections. Any party should select some candidates who desirous of participating in next election and make them to start service to the people in their respective constituencies and conduct a poll to identify the suitable candidate to take part in elections as has been done by Lok Satta in AP. Best candidate opted will contest.

BJP

BJP lost because they depended on Hindu voters. One can see how Muslims and Christians unitedly voted for Congress. It is not the case with divided Hindus.

BJP does not know the simple arithmetic that 30% of Minority > 70 % Majority (Hindus) and keep relying on Hindus. Hence it is loosing

If it wants to grow, it should in fact stop worrying about Hindus and Sri Ram. It should strongly support minorities and ignore Hindus. Then, it has a chance of wining majority.

What is there in a success rate ?
by ancy sajan on May 21, 2009 04:09 PM  | Hide replies

From the just concluded election we can understand few points.

1. In future BJP's prospects is bleek. It may get divided into two groups, namely hardline BJP and soft minded. Gujarat Chief Minister Mr. Narendra Modi and like minded leaders are likely to form a nano group against more soft minded leaders like Mr. Jaitely. In the process political likfe of senior leaders Mr. Advani, Mr. Murli Manohar Joshi, Mrs. Sushma Swaraj etc. will enhilate. Shiv Sena, Bajrang Dal etc. will also select their on path.

2. If congress got so many seats that not just because of the advantages of the congress party. it is mainly because of the disadvantages of other parties. Probably 60% of the people who voted for the congress do not know to which candidate they voted. They just searched for the Hand. It is likely in future that Trinamul, NCP, RJD, Lok JanShakti etc. may disappear and dissolve in Congress because such small parties cannot do anything for the masses except giving problems.

3. Further people in India are becoming wise. They did not vote for any candidate rather they voted for a party. For example in Jaipur BJP lost to Congress Mr. Mahesh Joshi. People do not know or seen him, do not know about his credentials. He just won being in the congress. If he was in BJP he should have been failed. That is the people's power.
