What is harm in beleiving in caste system
by Perdesi on May 31, 2009 08:12 PM  | Hide replies

Indian public likes it. Just see the current election results. People played the caste card and family card and they won. If Rahul Gandhi can be a MP without any qualification in hand just beign the son of Gandhi family, then why not a Brahmin, Kshatriya or Vaishy beleive in their family beleives?

Caste in India= Ethnicity in USA, same old stuff, yet Hindus are castigated by xtians about caste. It is just a ploy to:
1. get votes for congress
2. To convert to christians

casteism was almost dead in 1950 by constant preachiings of social reformers from Kabir( Bhakti saints)to swami Dayananda but scoundrel politians brought it back and VPSingh made it a permanent feature thru reservations.Meenas fighting Gujjars in the name of SC/ST status.Democracy has been murdered in India.

Re: Why Indians are QUITTING only Hinduism and not other religion

People are using the words dalit christians and dalit muslims and want reservations. Even after converting to other religions these people are still treated as low class people and not developed socially. There is 30% reservation for dalits and ST's in India and they can have free education from class 1 to even IIT. It is the conversion which seeds hatred as there are social tensions in areas where large scale conversion has taken place (kandamal). If hinduism seeds hatred then there would have been no other religion in india. India is the only land where multiple religions flourished since thousand years all becos of the meek and liberal hindu society.

The Hindu identity is based on caste, gotra, pinda, etc that link the individual to the family, all the way back to his ancestors. Throughout the year, a Hindu follows rites that continually remind him of these relationships. Take these symbols away and a Hindu will have no shelter left.
Just look at the Matrimonials where a match is sought as per above criteria, plus the fairness of the comlexion.
MK Gandhi himself was to remark that caste was the best form of social adhesion in Hindu society.
The Hindu is doomed until he can choose between the individual and the caste factor.

Since when did landing owning, rich communities like Vokkaligas and Reddys become shudra. They were and are economically the most powerful communities even today. This whole OBC argument is just an eye wash by the Indian political system. Some of castes who are OBC today have always been powerful historically and have never experienced any discrimination in whatever they wanted to pursue.
Caste systems have always existed and will always exist in one form or the other (socio, economic or something else). And indian policticans are willing to fix one evolutionary wrong with another.
I see the underprivileged upper castes needlessly discriminated and some OBC needlessly given freebies.
This wrong will get corrected in future by as every wrong is

Writer is ill-informed by saying " People forget that the Vokkaligas, Jats, Lingayats, Patels, Reddys are shudras (untouchables)". Real untouchebles were ( Chamar, And others) which were overpowered and kept as slaves generation after generation. Schythians, Jatts, Greeks, Gujjars, Turks, Mongols who once decimatated the Brahmins empire and refused to accept the living of snathan dharma. Brahmins used to call Turks as malechha(inferior to chamars), but does it matter? . Turks were rulers for generations and same thing goes about Jats and Gujjars.
