With hurdles created by DMK for getting portfolios of their choice and quantity, shows that even at this stage, Congress is not fully strong on its own. For 18 MPs it feels helplessness!!Why to boost of complete majority!!!!!!!!!1
Well with the kind of seats won by congress I feel MMS and Sonia should keep BSP completely away from Parliament if possible. SP need to be handeled properly as SP will need Cogress help to control Maya Madam in UP so Congress can give 1 cabinet post to SP.
DMK to be given only 2 cabinet as Karuna is another joker who goes for fast and breaks it within an hour .He is a joker that UPA can do without plus his leaders in previous govt have not performed at all and need a whiplash. Sharad (Marathi Manoos) should be left out completely no need to entertain him at all.
Mamta can be given railways only that's all. Rest all should go to Congress. Farooq can go back to srinagar and enjoy the Kashmir as he is a useless minister.
Rest offcourse MMS is wise and already has handeled a group of stupid fascits Karat and Yechuri so he will be able to handle all the apportunist gangs of power hungry dogs at his door step. Frankly nowadays Amar singh /Laloo Yadav both of them come out with absolutely begging bowls on TV and its a relief to see these both dalals in this state.

Sheila Dixit can be seriously considered for Housing & Urban Development. She will do extremely well in there.

Just because Karunanidhi spent heavily on his elections does not mean that he gets 10 cabinet berths to make money under the table to give him back. The only person who truly deserves berth because of his past excellent performance is Dayanidhi Maran. MMS can give DMK one more berth. Both Raja and TR Balu caused a stink with their corruption in the last ministry. Let us make a clean start this time.

Lalu should be kept out of Railways. It is a correct that he created the railways turaround but also increased the tatkal quota and made common people to suffer. Also he is an opportunistic guy and does not deserve a cabinet berth.

The kind of Rlys turnaround that Lalu brought around, no minister has done since India became independent. With the kind of profits that Rlys are making, I am sure he will reconsider the Tatkal related charges. It is a small issue.

Some add'l comments: a) Pranab has done a reasonably good job as External Affairs Minister. Since he wants to avoid travelling, MMS can bring in the articulate Shashi Tharoor as back up as MoS or Dy. External Affairs Minister. Agriculture: I recommend an expert like Dr. M. S. Swaminathan to bring about a sea change.

You think Chidambaram will be able to handle the Finance Ministry with the pressure he is under now? He just made it into the Parliament. Most people would not be happy with him. Why not Montek Singh Ahluwalia?
Re: Re: Re: Proposed cabinet build up

Chidambaram is a seasoned campaigner and will do whichever Ministry, you put him in. Since his first pref is the Finance Ministry, who not give it to him and move heavy weight Pawar as HM ?

Lalu - Railways is the biggest joke of all centuries! this is like telling that a comedian is the most important part in a movie!

You frog in the well. Management researchers from all over the world, including Harvard Universityhave come and interviewed him personally to find out how he managed to do it. Don't belittle a man and his outstanding job just because you are drowned in ignorance.
Voters voted to the max in favour of UPA & its allies to be able to see real efficient minis-ters like Maran back in the cabinet. It would be a betrayal of voters' faith if he is kept out just to accomodate the inexperienced duo of Azhagiri & Kannimozhi. Balu & Raja from DMK have already done enough damage to the previous UPA government's credibility by attracting the stink of corruption.

In Times of India it was reported after the day of counting that Karuna is demanding for 7 Ministries and quoted that a wag said that `after all he has to recover the amount spent by him on this election'. This is a report from Times of India and not my own!!!
Shame on Karunanidhi. He gets 2 ministries and he gives both of them to his kids. If there is a chance of third one he will give that to his grand son. This is the hight of dynastic politics. We need to stop this kind of nonsense by having constitutional amendment to have primary system like in USA. If we have primary systems, party presidents looses power; power comes back to people of party workers.

You an I cannot change this. Even we are not able to get the 49 O button in the voting machine. Do you think the politicians will agree?

That is a good one Duraisamy. It is still a mystery how Chidambaram is declared winner after a so called recount, though he is declared as having lost the elections by every News Channel by almost the same margin! I do wish someone files a PIL on this result at least! I am not at all convinced that Chidambaram won fair and square!!!

world has moved on. But we Indians continue to dream and build castles without values or principles. Most of us dont understand our cultural philosphy which is rooted in the Gita and has shown the way for Gandhi and many nations. We lack leadership and collective sense of purpose. I think India will be crushed by globalization and other Asian countries which are more productive and successful as a society.
Re: Re: It does not really matter
by Atul Neogi on May 20, 2009 06:37 AM
More productive? I donno but Globalization is going to fail.
I hate Indian society in last 1000 years. Lot of mistakes, Lot of prejudices, Lot of misinterpretations, Lots of injustice but still India survived, Not only that it is reckoned as a global power economically, technologically and militarily.
I think that way, India cannot be crushed just like that. Strength is (surprisingly) inherent family values and fear for God.
