Good article, need not be so apologetic !
by Venkateshwaran N on May 23, 2009 11:23 AM

Sai need not be so much apologetic for this.

Hope is good. But let not Hope for the future spoil your convictions of the past and caution for the present.

Overall, an article which is reasonably balanced. Let us hope the winners of the election get the right message and not just the message which they like to see.

media is dominated by shameless comedians
by poovannan ganapathy on May 19, 2009 11:26 PM

its funny to see the praise of rahul and writing off mulayam and mayawathi.she got the highest votes and mulayam the highest no of seats in up and congress was helped by candidates like azharuddin who won in a constituency where congress has lost deposit in the past 25yrs.congress has lost its deposit in half the seats in up and its dubbed as a great revival.it gave seats to lalu s brother in law sadhu yadav, pappu yadav s mother etc while going alone and the media post results are gaga over those moves.
mammohan was projected against advani unlike 2004 where none was projected against vajpayee and the prospect of advani becoming pm was terrifying for many and since maya also could have supported him if need arose there was a shift towards congress.if there is assembly elections tomorrow the congress will not cross the 50 mark out of 403.
this was a govt which implented mandal two and had promised reservation in pvt sector, reservations for dalit chritians and muslims etc in manifesto and the elite upper caste media tries to project as if people have voted against all these issues.

Would your highness the rediff team please tell us the % of votes that each major party got this year and also in 2004. Then we will know if there was a major shift towards Con party by BJP voters.

Less Party system in future India
by abboral boral on May 18, 2009 06:10 PM  | Hide replies

I am glad that 2009 election has shown the seeds of very few party system in India like in 60 s but the difference is that in 60s only few parties dare to enter politics as their career except INC who was a 100 years old party and was engaged in freedom movement of India and was a natuaral choice as a rular after 1947 .Congress ruled mostly ignorant ,illiterate underdeveloped India upto 1990 .Then came the liberisation in 1991 by Dr Manmohan Singh under able leadership of late PM p>v>Narsimha Rao and suddenly India started all round development and reached to a state now where India virtually dominating world economy .The only casualty is a multy party system and coalition politics emerged with great obstacle to development further .2009 has given a very clear signal of less party as only two major party like Congress and BJP has emerged with two clear seperate idiology of the two parties but on a common goal of India developments .Indian voters are now developed ,intellegent, litterate so a warning signal also coming for these two major parties that they should not take easy to Indian people now

Mohan Patil, you have shown only tip of the iceberg. I am from Tamilnadu and I know how these people meet the election. For a few hundred rupees and packet of briyani with a quarter of brandy, there are poor people, ready to do anything.

For NDTV, aajtak, IBN, Indiantoday, Headlines etc., the deal is different.

FROM YOUR HEART
by hanif mohammed on May 18, 2009 02:19 PM

One of the best article I read on Rediff related to 09 elections. SS you have summarized the issue very sensibly and concisely. Sometimes you have to let your heart and mind speak together !!
