Reading out the epitaph
by GODAVARTI RAmesh on May 18, 2009 04:27 PM  | Hide replies

Undoubtedly this is a time for celebration for the Congress, media , non congress parties (who are even more secular than congress),Election Commission ,judiciary and the only minority that matters in this country. For all others it is confusion ,uncertainity and a sense of helplessness. Not because NDA lost, but because history seems to be repeating itself. The way opposistion is disintegrating reminds one of the Indira Gandhi era when there was no credible opposition worth its name and congress used to win elections with brute majority. Those days are set to return once again. Well , our private but partisan media seems to be revelling in this situation.

India's total deficit this fiscal year could hit 11.4 percent of GDP, up from 5.7 percent last year, according to ratings agency Standard & Poor's, which has threatened to downgrade India's country rating to junk.

Did anyone notice the NDTV studio decked in the KKR colors of black and gold with a helmet shaped dome on the parliament. Seems to me that mean they are slowly moving away from the red of communists?

Question for Congress supporters!!!!
by suryanarayan bhaskar on May 18, 2009 12:30 PM

First of all let me make it clear I am not a Khakki chaddi wala nor am I a Safron Brigade guy.I am also not a leftist. But I am extremely anti- Congress.
I am only talking about Congress here. How can there be so called secularism when one community is supposed to get first claim to resources. There is going to be reservation in the private sector based on communities.
Again why should only one dynasty rule the country time and again and why cant everything be be on merit and merit alone. And how do u expect and Italian who has links with an international criminal Quatrochi and helped in the Boffors scam to be faithful to India. As we are all Indians what is good for me is also good for u so it does not make a difference.
I am unhappy that Congress has won.

This is indeed unfortunate mandate. Common man should be again ready to face corruption, poverty, price hike, electricity cuts and many more problem for next 5 years. Congress history has been of scanms such as Bofors, Uria, Harshad Mehta, Satyam and many more. More criminals will be part of cabinet as it has been in past. In next election Afzal will be given ticket by Congress to contest election. Shame on us indeed. A bachelor of 38 years Mr. Rahul Gandhi is only youngster India is having just because be belong to Nehru Family. in 2014 Afzhal will be Home Minister.

I agree with you 100%. Congress wins because of bindly voted by Muslims and Christains and lower people who ever got Rs.100,200,500,2000 from Congress party. Congress party not won elections they simply purchased votes. People are not seen how all items rates are increased. Govt.depart officials double benifited they will get corruptions amount as well as 5th pay commission salary.

We are overlooking the `weak' factor!
by VASUDEVAN V on May 18, 2009 11:01 AM  | Hide replies

When Advani called MMs a `weak' PM, it was a statement of fact based on politics and not a personal attack. In fact, when the PM of a country takes instructions from elsewhere (10, Janpath in the instant case), how can he be deemed to be a strong PM? The nuclear deal proves nothing, as Congress never used it as a poll plank. The fact is, it was the PM, Rahul and others who indulged in personal attacks! The PM told that the only achievement of Advani was the demolition of Babri Masjid. I cannot even recall any achievement of MMS, as the dynasty was credited with all achievements of the Congress and the failures were attributed to individuals (Congress Presidents and CMs in respective States like Gujarat, Maharashtra when they failed). To me Pranab Mukherjee any day will make a better and a much stronger PM than the `weak' MMS. Is Congress listening?

Before correcting others, please correct yourself. You dont need to worry about Congress. You worry about BJP and they need a lof of advice from you people. When you accuse others, other four fingers are pointed towards you. Dont forget that. If you people dont change it even now, you wont do any good for the BJP. The congress may keep on winning.

I am happy that you are happy with the Dynasty. Long live dynasty. A suggestion, why not declare India a Kingdom and bring back the rule of Kings, where power passes from father to son to son.... Come on grow up man. We are supposed to be a democracy and in a democracy everyone has a right to speak his mind. This so called victory of Congress does not make MMS a strong PM. It only makes Sonia and Rahul more stronger. MMS is only keeping the seat warm for Rahul. With recent bypass surgery, it is only a matter of time before MMS is made to vacate the kurchi and Rahul takes over!

Mr. Vasudevan,

I agree that dynastic politics is not good. However, considering the alternatives, UPA is the best choice. If only the NDA drops its communal stance and does not put its weight behind irresponsible comments by Varun Gandhi etc.. If only they would look at India as a secular country .. and accept that muslims, christians etc. also are a part of this country .. then they stand a better chance.

The government in the last 5 years has been as good as it can be expected .. the poll cry of BJP was based on the slowdown and the terrorist attacks .. and in both the cases .. if BJP was in power .. we would hv only been worse of... they talk as if they wud hv done something radically different .. but they wud hv only fared worse ...

MMS is a man of integrity and a very honorable PM .. he mite be getting advice from 10 Janpath .. but is no different from Advani who is adviced by radically communal RSS!

Incidents like Ram Sene, Shiv Sena & the Varun Gandhi episode will only hurt the BJP more ...

How can some one say BJP a communal party and others secular when every party is supporting some community, the so called secular parties are always talking about providing help to the minorities, isn't this too a communal behaviour- I am not pro or anti towards any party but plz make some notes before passing on judgements.

mr. manish, if some party is helping some community then it does not harm the other ones, hence, it is not communal.
but yes, if some party is talking abt slitting throats and cutting hands of some community then that is called communalism for sure.
