First of all the dirty media must be washed clean. They bring forward all dirty and useless arguments for the defeat of TDP in AP.Particularly a Telugu Paper which is always anti Congress spread all kinds of lies and bad propaganda against Congress. It said after first phase of elections that the Congress is wiped out from Telengana and that Grand Alliance gets more than 100 seats out of 150 seats which went to polls in the first round.It said that the Election promises of Cheater Babu Naidu transferring money and free Color Televisions clicked. But now it says that program has not eached the people.The same paper clearly explained how the combined votes of GA are far more than Congress.Now They say the oppositin vote was divided so the congress won.What a fun?.Then why they have not taken BJP into their Grand Alliance(GA)?.They clearly said that BJP is untouchble.Then how they will vote for this dirty,cheating GA?.And another argument is that LOK SATTA is also a factor in thier defeat. How?. The main aim of the party is to root out corruption from the society.And they opposed all the main parties.And who are opposed to all the main parties corruption voted for it. How now do they say that are the votes of GA?. Does any one stopped them from taking LOKSATTA into GA?.And again about Praja Rajyam Party(PRP). Nearly from more than three years the whole media including electronic was boosting Mr Chiranjeevi. What happened?.Now he came to Knowhis real Stength. About this later
There are 3 types of lies. Lies, Damn lies and Statistics. This is the 3 kind of lie. If I remember correctly, only once did the winning party have more than 50% of the popular vote in any election since 1952. Opposition vote is ALWAYS fragmented, as there are too many parties. Only if we have a 2 party system, this kind of argument will work out. what is there to prevent the argument that a % ( even a large one ) of the votes which went to Chiranjeevi didnot come from Congress vote bank?

You are a fool. Why should people who support Cong vote for Chiranjeevi? Only anti-incumbancy votes can be divided. Look at TN where the margin of victory is less than the votes got by DMDK in 13 places for DMK, in 11 seats for ADMK.

Moderation in language is a virtue not taught to you I think. (you could have said that I was wrong--no need to call me a fool. People are entitled to their own opinions and all those who differ with me are not fools in MY book) Cinema glamour weaned away votes from Congress and TDP. Kapus and Balijas were his supporters due to the caste factor.His FANs were his followers--no caste, no party. In the last election, when he asked his fans to vote for Aswini Dutt ( a cine producer -TDP)in Vijayawada, his congress fans were enraged and even burnt his effigy in Chittoore. They were saying that they will vote for him, if he forms a party and otherwise they will vote according to their preferences. I hope that episode answers your question (Why should people who support Cong vote for Chiranjeevi?) Antiincumbancy is always a factor but with cine actors, Glamour makes people cross party divides.

You are right Narasimham, in multi party system, we cannot expect some party to poll more than 50%. It is always a small overall % of votes that separate the winner from loser.

if loksatta is not in the fray,TDP might have well placed to rule andhra,releasing it from evil clutches of congress and its CM YSR. Congress in andhra won because,
1) Chiranjeevi's PRP which got 15% vote bank split the BC vote bank of TDP,BC's traditionally supported TDP from itsevolution.
2) Loksatta split the TDP vote bank in urban places. 3) 90% of Minorities(Muslims and christians),SC's(Malas), ST's and Reddy's votes all went to Congress.
Chiranjeevi was the factor for congress victory, if PRP as a party is not there in the election then maximum MP's seat congress can get is not more than 3.

Money Transfer and Color TVs annoyed the Middle Class. And It made the TDP loss the Cutting Edge.
Also, TDP made a grave mistake by Not transfering vote to many TRS candidates. Just visit eci website. TDP polled in lakhs while congress won with margins in 1000s.

Chandra Babu tried to win the election and kill the TRS at the same time, but his trick failed.He clearly instructed his party men to not to support TRS candidates in all the seats.
TDP did a mistake in aligning with TRS leaving its united Andhra slogan. If it had contested on its own it would have won definitely some more seats since the people in Telengana region wanted an united Andhra pradesh. If people of Telengana wanted separate state it would have won all the seats it contested in 2004. Subsequent elections also shown that the separate state demand waned. That is the reason the people in other parties upporting separate Telengana were rejected in polls. TDP wanted to gain power some how or other. Theperson who did not agree to relook at power tariff despite agitations of the left which joined hands now promised free power for 12 hours. People wondered how this could be possible when the Congress which promised free power could not maintain thepromise by giving it continuously for 7 hours at a stretch. Practical experience educated the farmers not to believe empty and free promises. One should think of development, welfare of the people but not free lunches and dinners and entertainment. BJP could not even make the mark made by other new entrant PRP. It is a pity that the leadership does not want to learn lessons and correct its mistakes. promising or touching sensitive issues will do no good to that party. one should think of ways and means to provide food, shelter and clothing to the people and then any thing else. RAM mandir and article 370, hanging Afjal Guru are not the issues to be talked by BJP. Once it can show new leaders it may come.

Look at commies : did they ever say their head hangs in shame because they got a drubbing ? Look at congress : did it say , it lost becuase evms were tempered with in 99 ? Look at any political party or its supporters all of them are analyzing the reasons of failure , with one exception guess who ?/ Yeah its BJP , who are all over cyber space coming out with such stupid reasons as NDTV defeated them , evms were programmed and what not .. comone guys , why are you so hell bent to dig the grave of BJP ?? The more you try to explain away your loss more likely are you to loose further ground . Be realistic , understand what you did wrong ,and try and correct that.

Let us not get carried away by the 2009 election results and read too much in it. This simply was a vote against the obstacles of progress (namely, the Left and similar regional parties), with the Congress turning out to be the bigger beneficiary as the BJP hardly has a strong presence in many of the states that were earlier dominated by the commies or other regionals.
