BJP's Hindutva dividing the nation on religious lines.
by Proud Brahmin on May 17, 2009 02:26 AM  | Hide replies

I sincerely hope that the Hindu fascist party BJP does not come to power as its hell bent upon dividing the nation on the lines of Hindus,Muslims,Christians and Sikhs in India by following the violent ideology of Hindutva.

Hi Sunny, you don't have to convert to any other religion when BJP has failed. Learn and do the right things which Hinduism teaches. It in itself is the greatest religion in the world. It can teach all other religions how to live in peace rather than killing innocent church goers, breaking mosques and churches, spreading hate in the society. BJP is not the Hinduism protector. It is the party which has become a shame for the worlds greatest religion THE HINDUISM

BJP is not a Hindu fascist party..if anything its views on secularism is what that is needed at this time..anything less will simply foster Islamism which is not good for anyone including Muslims themselves.

Golden Day for Indians all over the world
by krishna kumar on May 17, 2009 01:51 AM  | Hide replies

I'am so proud bein an indian today .. Indian voters have finally matured and resoundingly elected a party which has the largest no of honest, progressive, educated leaders including young blood. If you see Congress has more or less fielded candiates based on their qualification, good intention like Sashi Tharoor even at the risk of loosing the seat. Also unlike other selfish policiticans most of the congress men stick to the actual topic being debated instead of indulging in personal abuse and never ending rhetoric of referring to past incidents. Finally a wave of refreshing change. Our people are getting matured and i think many of the middle class & youngsters have played a major role in bringing this transformation. Not to miss Election Comission professional work.

I'am so happy today as an Indian as over the past months i was anguished & concerned over the petty alliances & indecent attempt by many parties at isolating congress for selfish gains.
Hail Rahul & Manmohan SIngh..
and Thank you fellow indians especially..
We are on track becoming a developed country where issues are discussed/debated on facts & govt servants are held accountable and every citizen is treated on the basis of merit..
Lets completely move away from caste, religion difference then only we can be a super power like US.. We have a very good chance now with congress in power..

'The NRI community in the US always sided with the NDA'?
by Devadatta Bhaumik on May 17, 2009 01:48 AM  | Hide replies

It is a sad fact that many 'educated' Overseas Indians support BJP. These expats suffer from cultural isolation in their adopted countries and turn to identity politics to re-assert their self-worth, and the outfits that claim to be guardians of 'culture' 'religion' etc are a perfect answer to their quests. All extremist outfits, be it the Islamists, Khalistanis, or even N**zis of yore (remember the American N**zis) have had huge following abroad, and are examples. Another reason is that these expats feel they are away from the strife and violence created by their favorite outfits back home. Also adherence to the hate-ideologies enable them to externalise their hatred and be at peace. Life looks purposeful.

This is the psychology that drives the overseas Indians to sectarian f*ndemn* list outfits like RSS/ BJP etc.

India's contribution to the human civilisation is unmatched. From mathematics, sciences, architecture, philosophy, everything had its origin in India.Inspite of this India has a very poor image everywhere.Indians in general are looked down upon everywhere and are humiliated in every possible way for coming from a poor country and being under foreign subjugation for long.Indians after centuries of humiliation have come to accept that they are really inferior.Any country be in Gulf countires like UAE,Kuwait,Saudi Arabia or Asian countries like Malayasia,Japan etc care little about Indian sentiments. They look upon India as labour suppliers.Leave apart Western nations who think themselves to be rightful masters of all races on Earth. This loss of self esteem and confidence in Indians is due to their education system, which doesnot inculcate India's actual contribution to the world. What we study in schools in India is what other nations want us to think about ourselves.China's rise is due to its cultural revolution in 1960's that infused nationalistic spirit among its masses causing its ppl to work for the nation.Alas Nehruvian policies killed patriotic feelings among Indians.Who can teach better secularism and tolerance than India, the spiritual masters of the world, which taught human kind to accept all religions as true and every soul to be the manifestation of the Supreme Self?Spread this idea globally and the world will be a better place as Emperor Ashoka did with Buddha's teachings.

I am an NRI. I go by logic, not irrational urges.
In India anyways the voter turnout is very low, and they are very much inside the strife and violence. What makes them not vote? Lack of patriotism, or plain frustration?

Secularism is the Ethos of India
by Argumentative Indian on May 17, 2009 01:39 AM  | Hide replies

For over five thousand years, Bharat, Hindustan, India, call her what you may has been secular.
Our kings, emperors, noblemen, sadhus, thinkers have always supported divergence of thought.
Ashoka spread Buddhism.
Akbar, a muslim ruler, respected Hindus, married a Hindu woman and agreed to respect her religion after marraige!
The MNS & SRS have forgotten, that Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj reminded the whole world once again, that a defeated enemy, is to be treated with dignity, he insisted that the women and children of the vanquished be treated with kindness and respect and unnecessary killing of enemy soldiers be avoided.
Ramakrishna Parmahansa said, all paths lead to the almighty.

I think the terrorists (who, I can foresee from the state of affairs across the border, will be destroyed shortly now) attack pur people, the body of India.

The communalists on the other hand attack the very idea of India.

The people of India, the inheritors and custodians of this five thousand year legacy have spoken today.

The educated vote for the Congress/ UPA.
by Young Indian on May 17, 2009 01:38 AM  | Hide replies

"The NRI community in the US always sided with the NDA. The more educated sections of India too support the NDA. But the UPA could get much support in the rural areas."

Some people never learn. The fellow still lives in Wonderland. The educated vote for the Congress. How can you equate a higher level of education to narrow-mindedness exemplified by the BJP and NDA? Patel is in need of some education.
