... if congress/upa has got lesser seats than the bjp/nda. they would have tried all dirty tricks and misused presidential power to subvert the natural electoral process.

Secularism is the very Ethos of India
by Argumentative Indian on May 17, 2009 01:46 AM  | Hide replies

For over five thousand years, Bharat, Hindustan, India, call her what you may has been secular.
Our kings, emperors, noblemen, sadhus, thinkers have always supported divergence of thought.
Ashoka spread Buddhism.
Akbar, a muslim ruler, respected Hindus, married a Hindu woman and agreed to respect her religion after marraige!
The MNS & SRS have forgotten, that Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj reminded the whole world once again, that a defeated enemy, is to be treated with dignity, he insisted that the women and children of the vanquished be treated with kindness and respect and unnecessary killing of enemy soldiers be avoided.
Ramakrishna Parmahansa said, all paths lead to the almighty.

I think the terrorists (who, I can foresee from the state of affairs across the border, will be destroyed shortly now) attack pur people, the body of India.

The communalists on the other hand attack the very idea of India.

The people of India, the inheritors and custodians of this five thousand year legacy have spoken today.

Let me help you understand.

The Congress is not a perfect alternative.
Ideally, we should have no role for a religion based party, in a secular democracy.

But among two evils, the pieople have chosen the lesser one by far.

So to answer your question, is the Congress 100% Secular, No, I don't think so.
Is it a great party, definitely not, in my opinion.
Should the BJP, therefore have won? Definitely not.

The people of India, having to chose between say Dysentry on the one hand and Lung Cancer on the other, have chosen the former.

Is Dysentry healthy, no way, but it sure beats Lung Cancer.

Cheers.

BJP is no more communal than any other political party of india, telling a lie repeatedly does not make it a truth.
It is a sad day for Bharat mata that a truly nationalistic party like BJP is defeated because educated people don't vote. Only saving grace is that leftist crooks along with criminal laloos, paswans have been defeated. This will be the fate of bharat mata until middle class comes out to vote, god only knows when that bright day will come.

secualrism is only useful for the minorities and the communists. most hindus voted for upa because they got something from the upa - freebies or reservation etc. but trust the upa to up the ante on anti-hinduism which will lead to further polarisation. sure the bjp are idiots to support communalism - but the congress is not far behind.

Yeah Vishal I agree with you.
If you see globally, fanatics of any following, Hindu, Muslim, Christian, Fascist, Communist are really similar creatures.
They would attack the messenger, rather than the message.

However, in this hour of victory, it is important that we who have won a thin hope for secularism, do not dip into minority appeasement.
India needs a real secular democracy now, not minority appeasement.

congress/upa did not win due to any positives. it screwed up on security and economics as well. it won more on bjp's stupidity than on its own merits. now again dynastism, minorityism, casteism via divide and rule will be strenghtened. but as the people so their rulers.

what exactly do people have problem with dynasticism? Since ancient times a king's son would inherit the throne one day. A film actor's son could be a film actor. A businessman's son could be a businessman, then why can't politicians nurture their younger ones to be politicians. When Sonia had a chance to be PM, she sacrificed her post for a more able manmohan Singh, Is this what you call dynasticism. In these elections Rahul Gandhi has been persuaded to accept a cabinet post but he mentioned that he remains to be in the party. Is this dynasticism??

THE TENTH FRONT
by Ravinder Rana on May 17, 2009 01:34 AM  | Hide replies

I am the organiser of the 10th front. This front will contest elections in the year 2024, by which time, I am sure the 5th to 9th fronts would have been formed. The name of the mother party will be "IMM" - I, Me, Myself party. Any one, rejected by /unwilling to join any other front will be welcome to this party. You can join and leave this party any time. The joining fee and the leaving fee will be determined at that time. Basically, this party will have atleast one person from all religions, states, tribes, castes and whatever denomitions we have in India. The party's symbol will be the front porch of a Swiss bank, as all the joining fee and the leaving fee will have to be depoisted in the Swiss bank. The parties and individuals staying in my party will have to take an oath that they will leave the party at the first opportune moment. This way I will be able to collect a lot of party leaving money in the bank.
The party will work for the upliftment of the poor from their houses to the polling booths so that they can cast their votes for us. However, this facility can be provided to the others too. We can also play spoilers to other big parties and also help the formation of the governments in states/center- ofcourse for a fee. However, not knowing how long these governments will last, we will have daily charges for supporting the governments. Applications are invited for joining the party. Please keep looking at this page for further instructions. Meri Jai Ho.Paise ki jai ho

Even Advani could not
by Manian Vasudevan on May 17, 2009 01:30 AM  | Hide replies

When Shri L K Advani, one of the longest serving and very well known politicians of India could not fulfill the aim of becoming the Prime Minister, inspite of being a Prime Ministerial candidate of a leading National Party. How the hell this lady from UP, misusing the word 'Dalit' could even dream of becoming the Prime Minister of this vast nation? Fortunately, the Indian public proved that they are not fools to help her achieve her selfish target merely by misusing word 'Dalit'.

by D S on May 17, 2009 01:26 AM  | Hide replies

BJP and Congress are nexus funded by same greed-crime-murder mafia.

Maya got hit by those mafia gypsies.

It is the time for gypsy and scavengers to have their way in civilized world.

Gypsy types are good at forgery, cheating, fake/black magic, fraud, sorcery, etc.

Chawla, MMS and Sonia come from that sort of background. Titles cannot hide it.

Yes, they forged and rigged (including the voting machines), it is in their genes and we have allowed these gypsy pain into the civilized world to give us more pain.
