Make the Online voting as an option apart from Poll boothing and see the difference ....Most educated people are on Jobs and in other states and can not go back to vote at a booth ...it could be done like an ATM Pin ,used once and destroyed afterwards...Congress will be kicked out from this country if the educated start voting 100% which can happen by making this online...and get rid of this country from vote bank politics
Re: Why can't voting be made online in this 21st century

@vineet, do you think so? Check the major blogs/discussion rooms/chat rooms/free articles coming online. There is a clear majority among these, who support congress. Further more, dont think that all educated people are away from the state and cannot vote. If they are keen enough, they could very well plan for a vacation that time, and come back home for election. I feel like kicking those people who will not vote, but sit back and relax at their home and enjoy critisising elected government. And finally, dont think that its the educated class which goes out of the state for job. Its a good blend of everyone across the community who goes out of their hometown in search for a job. So, online vote will not help them. Now what will you suggest? postal voting for all? :) Whatever it maybe, the congress led government is voted by the majority and the country relies on them for next 5 years. Now get up from your couch and think.
There is something definitely fishy about Chidambaram's election. He was declared defeated. Then recounting was ordered - again defeated. A second recount declared him won and so he has won. I don't know how can this happen with elctronic voting machines. They should not give even a difference of 1 vote even when you count any number of times.

In the first recount Chidambaram was the winner. The second recount also, Chidamabaram was the winner.
The lady protests too much.Firstly, she and her party are not exactly short of funds,if her political and financial history is any guide.Secondly, she has not been very law abiding when she has used money and muscle to secure elections victories for herself in the past. The fact is she is getting on in years and her health has never been good. So,she is just a frustrated old woman in a hurry.
Money Power Muscle Power...she is definitely right....these must be stopped from influencing the people's voting decisions...Election officers should not be appointed for long term...and there must b a way to oversee them...as in the case of umpires in cricket matches.
