CAG Raps Congress government on Security
by IndianNationalChors on May 15, 2009 12:53 PM

Police stations equipped with "outdated" weapons
15 May 2009, 1028 hrs IST, PTI

NEW DELHI: Notwithstanding increasing terror threats, police stations across the country are still depending on "outdated" weapons as the
availability of sophisticated arms was "far below" the actual requirement.

According to the Comptroller and Auditor General, the weapons procurement data on each state showed that sophisticated arms like AK-47, 7.62mm SLR and 5.56mm INSAS rifle were far below the requirement of the states.

"As a result, police stations continued to depend on outdated weapons," the CAG said in its 'Audit Evaluation of Modernisation of Police Force in India' report.

Providing examples, the report said that adequate weapons were not supplied to extremist prone police stations in West Bengal while there was a shortage of 9,540 sophisticated arms in Rajasthan.

The report also pointed out that AK-47 rifles were placed at the disposal of bodyguards of VIPs in violation of home ministry's instructions. "In Uttar Pradesh, outdated .303 bore rifles and .410 muskets were in use," it said.

The CAG also found a case in Kerala where 1,000 second hand rifles were procured for Rs 50 lakh from Assam Rifles when the government had earmarked Rs 25 lakh for procuring 100 7.62 mm SLRs.

4 biggest problems and their solution
by Ram Sharma on May 15, 2009 12:52 PM  | Hide replies

4 biggest problems of the country r

- High population and still growing. in 1947 our population was 33 cr, which has grown upto 115 cr. Whereas land area is constant. One child norm (as in China since 1979) with provision of first child after 25 yrs of age must b enforced all over the world.

- Consumerism. High level of consumerism combined with high population means high air & water pollution, shortage of water, petroleum products, food items and global warming. Simple living must b promoted and there should b control on wasteful use of electricity, petroleum products and water.

- Corruption. Corruption has increased tremendously. Most of the politicians ruling us and making laws r highly corrupt. They were traded like goats during trust vote. many of them change parties and alliances as fast as Shivraj Patil changes his suits. People should not elect corrupt people in elections.

- Terrorism. Religion based terrorism started in 1987 in K'shmir. There was Khalistan based terrorim for some yrs in Punjab. Now religion based terrorism has spread all over. There were even reports of meeting between Dawood & Talibanese chief in Swat to put up Talibanese candidates in Loksabha elections. We must improve our survelience and inteligence. Pro Pak people like Antule should not b part of the new govt and good Muslims should b encouraged to dissociate themselves from terrorists.

All right thinking people should think further on how to remove these problems.

Juat wait and see.
by Maria Lobo on May 15, 2009 12:43 PM  | Hide replies

Just wait and see. If BJP comes to power, our secular constitution will become a communal constitution. It will be a constitution written and amended by RSS and sangh parivar goons. It will be a first step in the direction of creating a hindu country from the secular India. Tough times ahead of us. Country may disintegrate into pieces through civil war and internal instability. Enemy can easily attack us once we ourselves are not united. Advani's aim is to change constitution to the wish and will and taste of RSS. Then he can have a eternal sleep.

Who will bell the cat in Swiss banks
by Ram Sharma on May 15, 2009 12:38 PM  | Hide replies

Now since the elections r over and no party or group is going to win majority, the great Horse Trading has started. No party is bothered about the people or policy. There only concern is how to b in power by hook and crook and amas as much money as possible during the next 5 yrs.

Most of the corrupt politicians hv increased their bank balances. Some hv lot of black money in Swiss banks. But last govt did not take any action in getting this info from Swiss authorities. I don't know what will the new govt do. The maximum black money in these banks (who do not pay any interest) is owned by highly corrupt Indians. Since most of the political parties' leaders r corrupt, who will bell the cat?

I dont see them shouting for a mandir.

What I have seen is, some anti-BJPs constantly talking about Mandir. Even rediff published an article asking why Modi didnt mention Mandir in his speech. Clearly all you are interested in is a Mandir talk.

So what do you think about it? Even if they dont mention, others will always bring it up. So rectify yourselves first.

JGN,

To those who point at Ex-nun Jesme Raphael's sexual harrasment

Sr. Jesme wanted to bring out injustice in order to restore the ethical and moral values and also stand for virtues. She could speak truth bcuz she is true Christian. The teaching of bible are such that it speaks of truth, justice, forgiveness and love which if one follows will make him or her a strong person in Jesus. Worldy powers will never shake their faith; they can destroy physical and materialistc bodies but not the eternal values and virtues. She didnt wanted such things to happen again and also her testimony will reform church in positive way. I look at it as positive step to bring in stringent ethical values in church. So tell me how many swamis, saadhvis, mullas have guts to talk about injustice openly so that their religion/faith is saved from immoral and criminal developments ?

Congr is the worst party, having promoted corruption and family owned parties in the country. It is really sad that one upon a time this party had great people like Netaji, Gandhiji, Jai Prakash Narayan etc.

Now the spineless Congis worship their imported Sonia mother. Without the dynasty at the helm, these people will fight like dogs and disintegrate.
