If the NDTV exit poll which gives Cong-DMK 22 and AIAdMK front 18 is true,it will be UPA which forms the Government.AIADMK front will be a decisive factor only if it sweeps with 30 plus or 33 to be precise. But the high voter turnout in TN is a puzzling factor?Noone really knows whether this high number is the result of a lower denominator due to weeding out of bogus votes or due to high anti incumbency vote against the ruling State Government. But a high turnout in Tirumangalam meant a thumping win for DMK.Could the high turnout now mean the same?Fascinating thriller from TN.My gut instinct is it will not be a Amma sweep.and AIADMK front is likely to get a total of only less than 20.

Amma rule in Tamilnadu witnessed no substantial developmental activities, where as DMK irrespective of the allegation of family rule etc deliver better in terms of development.governance etc Ex. JJ transferred all the wine shops to be owned by government and it was not reversed in DMK rule.

Sweep in polls happened only in extreme situations
1991- Rajiv Sympaty wave
1996- Anti- Jaya wave
2004- Anti Jaya wave look at 1998,1999 it is a mixed verdict. JJ tried for a wave by taking Srilankan issue but looks like not effective.

DMK may be projected to do good because
1)Various sops for peopel ( TV,Rice ete)
2) A notable developmental activities
3) Known faces in elections who performed relatively good
4) it was beleived that JJ will repeat 1998 and which will lead to mid term elections. etc
5) Not to forget the money power

secular - non secular
by Pankaj Kumar on May 15, 2009 07:53 AM  | Hide replies

Dear all, one question i want to ask form whole india nation. These Congress n thr support parties always said that we are fighting with insecular BJP.
So all those peoples of india who always voted for BJP, and all the states where BJP is rulling are Insecular in the eyes of BJP.
means this UPA and Left peoples straight way abuse the peoples of India by telling them Insecular.
so i request the whole nation to come United and comes on street and ask the answer of my question. that who is dividing the naiton, by saying we r secular and those voted for BJP and NDA are Insecular.

This is a burning question in indian democracy. We the so called educated people also fall in the bogous leader of the secular parties. They are dividing us in the name of caste, language, religion and we are not protesting till now.We are the selfish people thinking only for ourselves and they making profit at the cost of our weaknesses. We should have a uniform policy for the devolopment by identifying the income level of each citizen of our country. We should have one vote, one bank A/c no,one wealth record. Also reservation should be made only on the basis of income level/education level. Then only the secular parties could not play us with the name of secularism

Dear Pankaj,India is still controlled by Christian West and Muslim Arab countries. They pour money to India to influence politician,media,NGO's...etc.These people will tarnish whoever stood for national issues and matters of Hindu concern. It is a fact that majority of Hindus can be brought by money. They are using this.
Whenever somebody says "I am a Hindu",medias, politicans,so called social leaders call him a communal. When a Muslim or christian says I stand for my religion,he became secular
The duty of educated persons in Hindu religion is to make our brothers and sisters aware about this situation and create a vote bank.
India was once dominated by just 20,000 British people by dividing and ruling us.The same thing should not happen now.
Fortunately a party with Hindu cause has emerged in India ,ie BJP and we can just think what would be our plight if this BJP was also not there.
Thanks BJP.We will make you great and in return you should give Hindus and India more diginity.

After what happened in Godhra & Malegaon, I am surprised that you are still groping in the dark as to which party is secular and which non-secular. People who care for the long term unity of India will al-ways vote for the secular forces. People with a short erm vision, who allow them-selves to be influenced by Hindutva and overdose of religionism will vote for the BJP. A true Indian will not just look at who wins this election but who can pro-vide a long term stability & growth. Thanks to opportunistic political lead-ers, we are at a cross roads, where such politicans, try to enforce mid term elect-ions, irrespective of we as a country can afford spending Rs. 50,000 crores every 6 or 9 months.

Hi sundaram,
What happened in godhra was done by mslms. The reaction was felt by innocent people of both religions. Without going into what happened after the train was burnt, unfortunate events the reaction, it follows that the reaction happened because of the action. Now, was the action that started the mayhem communal or secular? The cooongrss would have us believe it was a secular event. This has been repeated by the press and media. However, targetting one religious group and killing them mercilessly is not secular and is blatantly communal. One cannot separate action and reaction and the way of riots is that they spare nobody who is in the way.

Well if the BJP is a communal party what about the Congress party which organised the anti-sikh riots in 1984. And the fact is that there are witnesses and evidences against Congress's involvement in the '84 riots. Whereas no proof is there that shows Gujarat govt's hand in the riots. My point is further justified by the recent shoe-gate incident involving Mr. P.Chidambaram for letting Jagdish Tytler free. No such incident has occured against Modi. Today if you go to Godhra and ask about Modi everyone will talk in good terms about his good work but no one will talk about what happened in 2002. So, don't refresh those wounds. It's time we realize that no party is secular in India. BJP is pro-Hindu. Congress and all other so-called secular parties are in fact pseudo-secular parties who pretend to be secular by always favoring the minorities just for keeping their vote-bank in tact. So while voting it is pointless to vote with an intention of bringing a secular party into power because no such party exists. Therefore, the only option left is to vote for a party or alliance that has a good track record in governance and developmental activities. BJP led NDA is much better in that respect. Proof- Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat.

The same thing applies to Congress too. Please note down that Mayaben kodnani a BJP women minister is in custody for her alleged role in riots. If you tell modi government is not involved, that could not be a excuse the government inactiveness led to the deaths.

I wish to throw atleast ten times in the face of BJP leaders for Gujarat incidents and just waiting for the chance, but i calm down because that will become a excuse for Sanghis to riot and kill people.

Only people inflicted with wounds will talk about the riots not the one who orchestrated the riots.

Yes the Madhya Pradesh/Chattisgarh leads in development of people below BPL , the list was few days before in rediff forum please refer. Regarding Gujarat the HDR and other development indicators show Gujarat tops in attracting FDI other social indicators like Law & Order, Child education etc it falls behind other states ( Ref India Today)

Mr.Sundaram,
I am surprised by your long-term and short-term concept.Your long-term concept for secualar parties headed by Congress is totally in disarray. And for yur very kinf information the diff. between secualr and communal according to al exit polls is only 25-30 seats. If there is really a secualar wave across the country then BJP should get only 50 seats. So keep your secualar attribution to urself.True Hindus cannot accept any secualarism at the cost of Hinduism. And it is not secualr by any means. With only Hindu votes BJP is shining a lot. It's just a matter of time that muslim votes will also come for BJP.

BJP could never get 272 votes on it's own. It has to get support of all other parties to be in govt and becasue of other parties supoort BJP will never be able to do anything for Hindus. Once in power with support of others, BJP will be no different than congress. May be unfortunate for Hindus that BJP will never get 272 on its own.

India needs UPA more than ever now !
by Sundaram on May 15, 2009 07:52 AM  | Hide replies

Out of the dust & din of elections, one sincerely hopes UPA emerges victorious & forms the government, given the rag-tag performance of earlier coalition governments. In a world gripped by severe recession, one needs UPA to deftly lead the Indian economy out of the woods. The other noisy parties can wait for the next round of elections to try their luck again.
