Indian documents in black money case forged: Swiss govt
New Delhi: In a major embarrassment for the Indian government, the Swiss Justice Department Monday said it had received forged documents from New Delhi two years ago in connection with an alleged Rs.40,000 crore ($8 billion) money laundering case involving racehorse breeder Hassan Ali.

"The documents submitted are forged," Folco Galli, a spokesperson for the Swiss government, told a private Indian TV channel Monday. He said the Indian government was dragging its feet on the issue of retrieving black money believed to be stashed away in foreign banks.

The official said the Indian government had submitted forged documents to the Swiss authorities in January 2007 in the $8 billion Hassan Ali money laundering case. Pune-based stud farm owner Ali is alleged to have illegally transferred the money to Swiss bank accounts and had come on the Enforcement Directorate's radar.

Galli also claimed the Swiss government submitted certain queries to its Indian counterpart in April 2007 but had not received a reply even 24 months later.

"India makes only few requests per year to Switzerland for legal aid in tracking down black money," he said.

The black money issue has become a major campaign topic in the Lok Sabha polls, with the Bharatiya Janata Party promising that if voted to power it would bring back the billions of rupees stashed away abroad. The United Progressive Alliance government has

This front was not able to make Bengal no. 1 State in last thirty years,In my view they are not suitable for progress/development.Even today during voting, people are killed. What a non-sence rule of Left Front. In world communism failed but even today Indian Left front is as it is.In my view , they can not make Bengal no. 1 state even in next 100 years. Can they compare their progress with Gujrat,Punjab,Delhi,Hariyana,Goa...actually they are no where even near to them.WE PRAY TO GOD TO NOT TO ALLOW SUCH USELESS FRONT TO RULE INDIA

mr.ray,
a slight increase in percapita income doesnt present a rosy picture. dont forget that gujarat, maharasthtra, punjab, are miles ahead. i hoped that after 30 years of communist rule bengal would be competing with japan, usa, but hell no. i'm hugely disappointed that bengal looks like somalia and acts like sudan.

Mr Stern, it is late in night, and I must wake early tomorrow to casr vote. Let me only say that you have no idea about what can happen if more than 2 crore people come to a state after partition and the Bangladesh war. The people of Bengal virtually got no assistance from the centre, which asked them to go to Andamans!!! So, West Bengal started from the scratches, unlike all other states. According to World Bank reports, the work done by the successive state governments in the state is historic! And please remember, the Congress did virtually nothing for those refugees.
Good night. Happy left-bashing!

Is it a population survey or sample survey?
Besides the % figures, we need the absolute figures as well.

You have simply no idea, Sir. Remember, while most CMs live in bungalows, the WB CM lives in an ordinary small flat, and all other ministers do so - either living in flats or in small houses. Remember, there has not been a single case of corruption personally against any minister.

And let me give you some facts, three LS candidates are hardcore rotten criminals (from CPM), I do not enough info abot the rest. Eliminate the scourge of communism from India...
by ashish tiwari on May 12, 2009 10:55 PM  | Hide replies

Bengalis and Keralites have a great duty towards this nation and that is to save democracy in India from the Chinese agents who have ruled them for so long. Communism is like a cancer as we have seen in Nandigram in particular and Bengal and Kerela in general. With even Bihar and UP making the right turn it is now time for Bengal and Kerela.

It will be better to think of the condition of UP, Bihar & other most backward states before u try to 'save' West Bengal & Kerala. Go through the development indices of Kerala and compare with foriegn standards. Wait till 16th with a bit more patience.. So many propogators have now 'born' for Nandigram. What are their credentials & policies? People will identify them.. Sun Kerala

No one has ever said that the West Bengal government is a communist government. It is a government under the provisions of the constitution of India. It seems that you are not well-versed with the Indian political scenario!
For your info, the ministers of West Bengal are sworn in in the name of the Indian constitutuion - do you know that?

The governments in West Bengal, Tripura and Kerala are peoples Governments. The Ruling party/front have never claimed that they have established communism? They are only completing the unfinished tasks of the Congress which was abandoned by congress because that would have hurt the interests of the Kulaks and the Big Industrialists. It is quite amusing to read" how can a communist government be under the suzerainty of delhi? " What a joke and then you ask others to read history. The communists decided to participate in the democratic process of the Indian nation to reach the masses and complete the unfinished historical duty of the party of the bourgeoise landlords and the industrialists--land reforms, education for all, food for all, shelter for all , jobs for all. Also the flag of democracy was being tarnished and thrown by Congress/RSS et al which the Communists vowed to uphold.

Check your facts and if you guts anser this allegations:
Indian communists are trying to protect China's interest by opposing the Indo-US nuclear deal. Communists are traitors of the highest order. Why are they silent when China claims "Arunachal is an integral part of China" or when China sets up nuclear power plants in Pakistan. If India is trying to get nuclear energy from US they oppose because it hurts China's interest. They are shameless antinationals and should be kicked out not only from Bengal but also from the whole country. And remember the left parties still claim that India attacked China in the sixties during the Indo-China war. Great, Long live Communism, Long live China….
They called Netaji : Tojo's dog (Tojo was Jap PM during WWII).
Communists have opposed computerization (Cal. Univ. was shut down for 3 days by SFI in early seventies), ruined the careers of at least 75 lakh students (English was out for 15 years from WBengal Board syllabus, multiplied by avg. no. of students appearing at the board exam every year), also they burned 11 trams in order protest a fare rise of I paisa in the sixties. Their iconic leader Jyoti Basu said in a speech (before becoming the CM) that if we come to power we will take out the AC machines from Writer’s building, and we all know till this date what kind of lavish lifestyle this hypocrite is living…
Have anyone ever talked to any Chinese guy? If someone can, then ask him/her about Tienanmen Square, most of them don’t even

You better do some serious reading and then comment on Public Message borads. By the way it seems your are a foreigner ? Why so much of interest in Bengal and its politics? Are you employed by CIA? There is definitely a hammer and sicle in the flag and that signifies communists' commitment to the working class---the workers and the farmers.People like you can only distort and pervert truth the way you are doing. I invite you to a debate on communist ideology rather than your mud slinging.
