An Idea
by lukose vj on May 08, 2009 07:16 PM  | Hide replies

I wonder how a Manmohan and a Chidambaram survive in India's politics! But survive they do.

In our country brilliant minds are not able to take reins or shy away from assuming top governmental responsibilities for fear of the nightmarish politics.

I suggest we adopt some a form of proportional representation with or without a list system to for our governance. In one version of that system an elector has two votes. He casts one vote for an individual candidate and another vote for a political party (party vote). Those individual candidates who get more votes than their rivals will sit in the Parliament. Each party nominates people of their choice to sit in Parliament from their lists (drawn up by that party without reference to the electorate)in proportion to the party votes they have received (List MPs). The sum of the Elected MPs and the List MPs makes the total strength of the Parliament in that system. In that system briliiant people who do not want to enter politics can get an opportunity to sit in Parliament and serve the country.

Our Rajya Sabha comes near that concept. But in electing MPs of Rajya Sabha state legislatures have the major role which may not always reflect people's wishes. Besides, Rajya Sabha is inferior in status in certain matters.

PC was a greedy FM. He taxed the middle and lower middle classes, with service taxes on a number of items which affect the common man, the aam aadmi. He left out Lawyers from service tax because he said that lawyers do not give any service!

HIS GREATEST CONRIBUTION WAS TO THE WEALTH OF STOCK EXCHANGE SPECULATORS AND REAL ESTATE LOBBIES.

WHY DO YOU THINK HE ALLOWED INVESTMENTS FROMM ABROAD UNDER P-NOTE SCHEME? ASK JAYALALITHA.

WHY DO YOU THINK HE FORCED BANKF FOR FOUR YEARS TO REDUCE HOME LOAN INTEREST? SO PPL WILL BE TEMPTED TO AKE LOANS AND BUILDERS COULD RAISE THEIR PRICES BY 500% BECUZ PPL TOOK LOANS RIGHT AND LEFT AND MADE BUILDERS RICH.NOW THEY WILL CRY BECUZ HEY CANT PAY THE EMI.

LUNGIWALA AND HIS FAVORED LOBBIES ARE LAUGHING ALL THE WAY TO THE BANKS (NUMBERED ACCOUNT BANKS?)

all are corrupted!!!! we don't have much options!!!!In India people vote not because they like the candidate but just the defeat the candidate they hate. in this process some rogue guy will go to parliament. i really wish the 13 Dec 2001 attack on parliament should have succeeded. few would have been eliminated!

Chidambaram's clean Image?????
by chandrashekar nayak on May 08, 2009 05:36 PM  | Hide replies

Mr P C's image is clean? Wait for one more year.If and when India gets the list of Black money stashers in swiss and German banks, Mr P C's name will be on the top of the list. In 4 yrs as a Part time finance minister and full-time Share broker, he has made hundreds of crores of rupees, which could have been placed in Swiss bank Accounts. Thet is the reason why he behaved in a manner he did when Mr L K Advani raised the issue.Mr Clean will be exposed. he is asClean as his mentor Mr Rajiv gandhi. People used to call him Mr Clean but he ended up becpming a Dalal( a Broker in Defence deals).

by Shiva Guru on May 08, 2009 05:28 PM  | Hide replies

This media is so biased calling Mr. Chidu clean. Even the toilets in his house should stink!

He is so corrupt and it is a known secret that he along with his son karthi rigged the stock market, got contracts from State Owned banks like Union Bank and Canara Bank.

How you call him clean? Because he bathes every day?

* Every day 350 million Indians are STARVING for a 2nd meal.
