Many think that Tamils are the migrants settled during British Period which is a misguided statement. Sinhalese are not the original inhabitants of SL. The oldest Chola empire ruled SL during 300-100 BC. There were Tamil kingdoms like the later Chola dynasty under Rajendra Chola ruling SL even before the descent of Sinhalese. A lot of Tamil literature have its birth in SL. Tamils were one of the earliest settlers of SL much before the sinhalese. The oldest ethnic group of SL 'Damela' refers to Tamils. Those who migrated during early medieval period called themselves 'Sinhalese' durig which Buddhism rose as official religion. Before that, SL followed HInduism under Chola dynasties.

If SL followed Hinduism and that those followers were actually Tamil, why the hell is Karuna such a staunch anti-hindu? Is he purging history for the sake of making his family the emperors of the modern day tamil kingdom?? or, are you rewriting history here?

The anti-hinduism movement started only in 1900 AD and not before. Tamil literature has some of the most profounding hindu scripts. The Chola, Pandya and Pallava rules were ardent followers of Hinduism who had built many marvellous temples across TN. The dravidian movement was started by Periyar during the latter period of Indian Independence struggle. U people dont know when the dravidian movement was started and u are commenting on my points on SL history.

Just don't cite history for misguiding the readers. If every conflict is traced back to history, there can be no solution. Today Lanka is an independent nation. And it is faced with the problem of terror perpetrated by the LTTE in the name of Tamils. India needs to support Lanka in its war on terror. Period.

There is no need for me to misguide Mr. Kumar. It was with the same distorted history that they were the original inhabitants, that Sinhalese elevated themselves as first class citizens pushing Tamils as secong grade ones. Do u siupport suppression??

While we sympathise with the innocent Tamil populace caught in the cross fire, an independent Tamil Eelam is simply not in India's interests nor does it have any sanction in International Law. What Tamil and other politicians in India should be concerned now is in resolving the humanitarian crisis and thereafter seek a political solution keeping in mind the laws of Lanka so as to ensure greater protection and equal status for Lankan Tamils. In short India must ensure a victor's peace is not imposed on the Tamils. Eelam is not the answer. We have suffered with the creation of Bangladesh in the past.
For those of you idiots who doesn't understand the humanitarian situation or the attitude of Srilankan government against tamils,

Unfortunately, readers comments are far far away outdone by the deliberate hyper ventilating response of the TN politicians, each one competing to outdo even Prabhakaran in what he aspired for Eelam!
What is it in the environment of Tamil Nadu that it has always, since the 60s sought to remain on the boil and in ferment, never ever settling down to an orderly way of life and governance? Tomorrow, if Jayalalitha, more likely that enile, half-blind Karuna, sees that the only way for winning elections is to talk of secession from India, you can be sure that they will jump to create such an opportunity!

Unfortunately there are morons and hyprocrites in this forums who do not understand the actual problem and write random comments.
They will be in a shock only if they face something like what the Tamilians face in Srilanka.
Those affected in the Godhra right might understand that a genocide might cause. Sitting in a safe home these people will not be able to appreciate the actual sufferings.
