Retraction
by wellwisher on May 06, 2009 06:58 PM

The rise of a new power requires adjustments in the norms that govern international realtions.
The US just doesn't know how to handle a new power center in a resurget India so it is retracting from the bold initiatives launched by Bush.

u s wish list
by amsuman on May 06, 2009 06:14 PM

when it rains in u s we have to open our

umbrellas here as the recent melt down

has clearly demonstrated. u s is the

largest employer/employment provider to

our fellow country men and we just cannot

detach ourselves from the influence of u s.

fortunately there is no bitterness between

congress and b j p on this issue.

only the merchants of poverty were blind

in opposing good relationship with us

and fortunately their number would

positively come down from 60 to

insignificant 30 this time.

nothing wrong in fostering friendly

and happy relationship with us when

our friend, philosopher and guide

china has already been towing this line.

long live indo- u s relationship. jai hind.

some People do not have any gratitude
by mumbai on May 06, 2009 11:06 AM  | Hide replies

America is the nation which fought, is fighting and will fight the terrorism for the benefit of the international community. America has sacrificed more men and women in uniform than any other nation to fight against terrorism, for the benefit of the world.
Due to this reason America has to incurr loss and now America needs to stabilise her economy besides fighting terrorism.
So there is no other country working hard for the betterment of worl communtiy than America.
People should show gratitude towards America

boss!! there're no free lunches in this world...US is not doing anything for anyone...behind every action, there's an economic or political motive...
and dont forget, most of the terrorism (read taleban) is a creation of america, which has backfired on it now...and US is reaping wat it had sown...and for your info, India has lost more ppl. in uniform that US, while fighting...

End Use Monitoring
by Ajith Kumar on May 06, 2009 10:29 AM  | Hide replies

It would be very wise for the Government to take all parties in confidence before participating in any negotiations with the U.S.
These are not issues which could be "Wished Away" or an Individual to give his "WORD" committing India. The checks must be respected
and honoured.Indian Soverignity is NOT second to Individual honour.
U.S-especially under crippling economic "Sunami" is to be expected to behave
in a very selfish and overbearing way.

do u think parties like CPIM will ever agree to even share a glass of water with US? they're chinese agents...
but yes...its imp. to honor Indian soverignity, thats why we need an educated and wise person like MMS at the helm who can get the best out of such negotiations...
the current economic tsunami is also an opportunity to extract the max. out of US, whose bargaining power has reduced...
next 5 yrs. will be very imp. for Indian economy vis-a-vis the world...thats why we need someone like MMS n PC at the helm to take us to new heights...thats the sole reason to bring back cong. to power...

US is not for any one. They are the most selfish country in this world. To tackle the financial recession they have already started to cut the finacial neck of other country. First step they have already stopped all the finacial benefits, which was given by them to the companies, who is doing out sourcing. More steps we can expect. Any how we need to counter this by strengthening our economy and trying for alternative source. Our natural friend Russia has already went away from us because of our Congress Govt Policies. We have to bring every one together and should form a new Ally.

well...all the actions of US mean business and not frenship n i think current policies of India hv worked in the similar direction, for benefit of our country...thats excellent!! even the move to discourage outsourcing is a pure business-move, which anyway wont impact our outsourcing industry much...and India can also make counter-moves to encourage outsourcing industry like say providing tax-sops etc...
and its good that we've realized that theres not much we'll achieve by tying up with russia, who's no more a super-power...

USA is notbody's friend. It is interested in prmoting the Christianity in India. The Hindus in India are being killed by the pakistan sponsored terrorists( to which unfortunately some minority groups have joined) and converted by the western money through missioneries.
The law in india applies only to Hindus. There is lot of descrimination against Hindus in their own country. There is only one party which talks about this. That is BJP. please vote BJP if you are a true Hindu.

Mayawati did not stop selling Taj .. how do you expect her to be a good PM ? I believe that the only thing she will not sell for money is probably herself ... I may be wrong as well ... And there is nothing like Dalit ...She is just using it for her advantage ...All those who wants things in the name of Dalit are first class bhikari's ... raste pe bhik mangne wala bhikari bhi jyada respect se bhi mangta hai ... Mayawati and her 'DALIT' friends should learn something from them ... Ambedkar will be sorry for asking Consitution of INdia for such reservations for his community.. The only thing he has done is created a bunch of first class beggars , begging for anything and everything ...

Please dont equate secularism .. with atheism .. you dont have to bash your own religion to prove secular credentials .. the type of secularism which Congress has means hindus should shutup and stay in the corner and let minorities run the show ..this is no secularism this minoritism .. so that is why BJP is the only secular .. because it knows what being a hindu means .. what abrahamic faith means .. how they differ and where similarities lie .. what the history is .. .. unlike congress which simply want to pretend that past didnot happen ..

shame on media
by raj on May 06, 2009 09:19 AM  | Hide replies

see the way our media functions...why was this news not published earlier if the talks for agreements were underway for a long time...rediff publishes this article after every indian has already voted...if something like this came up say 2 months before the elections atleast some educated voters would have been in a better position to decide who they want to negotiate such deals...cause no one wants their mother land to be sold to foreigners....that is precisely what the congress does...look what they did with the nuclear deal...they dont even want to debate the pros and cons of such mega international deals in the public...and if congress gets back to power with the help of this shameless media God save India! I do not want any more international deals when the Congress and our weakest negotiator MMS is at the helm....I would anyday feel far more secure if the BJP negotiates an international deal because of the values they have as a party will never be anti-national...Moreover they definitely have more political clout to get the best out of such deals than our number crunching and politically weak PM....shame on media and shame on rediff for supporting the anti national congress as best as they could...
