Rahul has shown maturity
by Niraj Prasad on May 07, 2009 10:08 AM  | Hide replies

I am happy that Rahul has shown such maturity. Even though I am a BJP supporter, I would never hesitate to vote for congress if there is any danger of it becoming weak. A strong congress and a strong BJP is in India's best interest. These are the only two parties which can ever win my vote for Lok Sabha.

For Vidhan Sabha I am more than happy to support regional parties. And I believe this is the way all indians should vote. This would ensure that regional parties cannot put their parochial agenda in foreign policy, defense matters, security, nation-wide economic growth and India's reputation. And this will also ensure that national parties cannot ignore the regions altogether. This is the balance that all voters must strive to seek.

And we also should not be swayed by the cult of some personalities. We must always vote for the party. This is the best way to ensure accountability in governance.

It is the other way around. you keep your own thinking. I vote for BJP in assembly and local TDP and TRS for MP seat. what is wrong in that. We need to bury congress. it is a great threat to india. People like you are a burden to mother india.

But we do'nt want dynastic politics. Only BJP & Communists are the Democratic parties in India. ALl others are parties including the regional ones are family business.

Mr Rahul Gandhi's strategy is correct
by Prem Mohan on May 07, 2009 09:51 AM  | Hide replies

All sane persons will support Mr Rahul Gandhi's strategy. If the Congress cannot form an effective government, it is better to sit in the opposition and let the people of India see the spectacle of narrow-minded and self-serving politicians fighting for the crumbs of power.

Only the Nehru-Gandhi family can lead the nation in a positive, inclusive and progressive manner.

Of the following, who would you prefer as PM over Mr Rahul Gandhi:

1. LK Advani
2. Mulayam Singh
3. Mayawati
4. Prakash Karat
5. Lalu Yadav
6. Jayalalitha

You can consider all these names and then some more. You will soon realise that there is no alternative to the Nehru-Gandhi family, which is adored by the broad masses of Indians!

I definately do not agree that Nehru-Gandhi family are the only people who can lead the nation. All the leaders that you have mentioned below have a following of their own. Its a separate matter whether they have the capability to lead the nation. Dynastic rule can never be good in the long run. Already we sprouts of such rule across the nation even in the regional parties. Yes Rahul Gandhi does have a pleasant demeanor and shows potential. But that alone does not qualify him as a prime ministarial candidate. Look at the voting percentage till now 41%? If people dont exercise their franchise, they have to bear with whosoever becomes the PM, Mayawati et al.

Rahul Gandhi & Press Meet
by parameswaran K on May 07, 2009 09:49 AM  | Hide replies

Rahul was cleaver in announcing allignment with all and sundry because he weanted to have the cake and eat it too. For exmple, if DMK gets larger share congress will align with them but if ADMK does it, congress will dump DMK and go with Jaya. Similar is the situation Rahul is trying to do in Bihar - Nitish vs Lalu/Mulayam/Paswan combine. If left lends its support, Congress will dump Mamata. So Rahul and company P.ltd. are keeping all options open to stay in power at Delhi. Unfortunately, the thinking may not work to their favour. Congress is going lose miseraly in this election and they may not even be the second largest party in Parliament. Wait for May 16. Parameswaran

If no one support congress, they will buy MPs. The balance money is still there in Swiss bank. If BJP came to power all congress, SP, RJD leaders will go to jail

BJP must win
by Ladoo sab on May 07, 2009 08:39 AM  | Hide replies

BJP will get aroung 200. Plus the other NDA partners will get enough. So NDA will form the new govt in Delhi on May 17.

SRP will bring the congress tally under 100. Still the media will say 'Halleluja' to Italian mom.

Lallu, Kallu, Maya, Paswan, Karat, Yechuri etc will scratch their back on May 16.

Hey fellas adamant saying BJP will not win more than 130 check your facts.
Tell me congress will win more ? From where ?
CPM will more ? From where ?
RJD and Paswan will win more ? SP will more ?

So who will get the rest ?

BJP tally will be around 200.

Rahul for PM. Don't be a Man Mohan Singh. He is the only one endorsed Rahul except his mom and sister.

When we have Advani why think about a plan B.

A really good , balanced article
by Balaji Krishnakumar on May 07, 2009 05:47 AM

After a long time I am reading a good and balanced article from Mr. Shenoy.

Though it is very unclear as to what the post-poll situation will throw up. In fact, after going through all this process, it is best if there IS a govt. That is why the people are voting.

Dissolve all parties
by Vira on May 07, 2009 01:30 AM  | Hide replies

People often talk about pluralism rubbish ( Like they talk about spirit of India each time a terrorist attack takes place). It is not pluralism but chaos of a banana republic where every scoundrel is given a mic and let lose on public with his own agenda and given media coverage.

We should take a refferendum to de-recognize and dissolve all political parties in India (over 100 political parties - both registered and un-resistered including regional). It became like a fish market of democracy where every scoundrel creating his own party when denied ticket to contest with the help of a bunch of thugs and looters. All caste based ,family based, religion , region based parties should be dissolved and the leaders of those parties shuld be thrown into prison. That is to say , cleaning the garbage.

And then we should create a two party system like in the west. The voting process should be made compulsory and easy ( vote from anywhere).

Wait Viraji. Now it is only regional parties which have sprung up in each state, headed by the head of a certain family (Lalu,Mulayam,Karunanidhi etc). MLAs/MPs who will get disgruntled in these parties if they are not given ministerial berth will break away from the regional parties and form their own parties representing the particular constituency. This is what happened in TN where there are a dozen K parties. So in course of time, we will have 543 parties in parliament fighting each other. National parties will remain limited to the respective families (barring BJP and Left of course). Parameswaran
