He said that Lakshmi comes seated on a lotus. Saraswati's mode of transport is swan as I mentioned below.
what we call Laxmi is actually Kuber. Lakshmi is the goddess of spirtitual well being and devotion, not of material wealth . That department is handled by Kuber, who is the brother of Ravana, fittingly, although unwillingly.
The saffron Hindutva patry knows nothing about Hinduism. They do not concentrate on reading the real Hindu Sanskrit books and they just make a big show of it.

If you do not know this simple fact about material wealth and Kuber, you are a liar not a Hindu.
That the whole of Indian public calls Lakshmi the Goddess of wealth is a horrible historical distortion of Hinduism, much like the caste system is a horrible distortion, or like Creationism in Christianity, or Jihad in Islam. Every religion has been misused by us in the Dark Medieval ages and we should be careful calling each other's religion names because all are in a soup. Again, Kuber is the God of material wealth and Lakshmi is the Goddess of *Spiritual* well-being. Others more knowledgeable please feel free to correct me :-)

In general Hindus believes that Laxmi is godess of wealth if you go in to roots of Hinduism and inner meaning of it common man can not understand that is the reason simplifying the issues each thing has been attributed to gods, for example Lord Hanuman for courage,Lakshmi for wealth, Saraswathi for education. I agree fully with you if you analyze Hindu mythology there is no place materialistic money. Every pooja involves in mukthi (attainment of Moksha)These all things made by our rishis for common man. As you said correctly Lakshmi does not represents materialistic money that is the reason when Lord Venketeswara borrowed the money from Kubera when his wife itself is a mooney why should he borrow. Modi said in simple context to make people to understand and it is simple election meeting so we need not bother much about this.If you go in to the deep of Bagadgita Lord Krishna classified casts on the basis of division of labour. He classified casts in to four classes that is Brahmin,Kshatriya, Viasya(Baniya) and Sudhra on the basis their work but now so many casts have come in to existence, these all creations were happened only durng the Kalyug. Earlier Yuga's present type of castism is not there.I have written more than required -regrets for this

Mother Laxmi is the Goddess of Prosperity (which not only includes wealth but also peace, spritiual awakening, cleaniness, honesty and goodwill)

The tradition of Lakshmi as 'Goddess of wealth' was not prominent at all till Raja Ravi Varma - the famous painter king of Travancore - depicted her showering gold in one of his paintings. Like most of his other paintings, this was also very life like and became immensely popular in India during the early part of the 20th century.
You are right about Kuber's bigger tradition as the god of wealth though.
Modi is going to change the scriptures. For you kind information Modiji, Laxmi travels on Owl. I am not in support of any party but am a patron of Indian scriptures. Leaders like you who consider themselves to be messiah of Hinduism, if they set wrong examples what will public follow? And the most surprising thing is that all the people were foolishly applauding his words. This is Kaliyug. The patron of hinduism doesn't knows anything about it. And the common masses are blind to what actually is Hinduism. This is Kaliyug. Blind follows Blind and lead everybody to Hell (I mean well).

BJP lacks competencies and conviction to govern a culturally and socio-economically DIVERSE and distinct society like India.

Congress has succeeded in dividing India in name of diversity. As per their argument, every community in India should be a minority. But they wish to call only two mafia religioins as minority. That is their double standard.
