the great democracy we have
by palak shah on Mar 23, 2009 02:02 PM

Politics is not a SERVICE anymore but a PROFESSION!!!

An Important Issue!

Salary & Govt. Concessions for a Member of Parliament (MP)

Monthly Salary : Rs. 12,000/-

Expense for Constitution per month : Rs. 10,000/-

Office expenditure per month : Rs. 14,000/-

Traveling concession (Rs. 8 per km) : Rs. 48,000/-

(eg. For a visit from South India to Delhi & return : 6000 km)

Daily DA TA during parliament meets : Rs. 500/day

Charge for 1 class (A/C) in train : Free (For any number of times)
(All over India )

Charge for Business Class in flights : Free for 40 trips / year (With
wife or P.A.)

Rent for MP hostel at Delhi : Free.

Electricity costs at home : Free up to 50,000 units.

Local phone call charge : Free up to 1, 70,000 calls...

TOTAL expense for a MP [having no qualification] per year : Rs.32, 00,000/-

[i.e. 2.66 lakh/month]
TOTAL expense for 5 years : Rs. 1, 60, 00,000/-

For 534 MPs, the expense for 5 years :
Rs. 8,54,40,00,000/-

(Nearly 855 crores)
AND THE PRIME MINISTER IS ASKING THE
CEOs TO CUT DOWN THEIR SALARIES.....
This is how all our tax money is been swallowed and price hike on our
regular commodities.........
And this is the present condition of our country :

855 crores could make their lives livable!!
Think of the great democracy we have…

Varun has broken law.
by vijay patel on Mar 23, 2009 01:24 PM  | Hide replies

Let us not politise what the EC has done and learn to put things in perspective and not get carried away.

What Varun has done is against law spreading hatred during election campagin. EC cannot by law disqualify Varun from contesting, if he wants to or if BJP wants to. But prime facie EC has found evidence which will go to court. It is only EC recommendation that if BJP allows him and it means that BJP has endorsed what Varun has said. After court takes action, it may be Varun along with BJP will be disqualified since they have endorsed the view of Varun a party candidate.

its not B*J*P politicisint EC but cong and EC itself policising!
when there is no proof and he keeps saying the CD doctored, what morale the EC has to tagg him?
Why do EC take action agains the corrupts and goons?
Chndrababu Naidu blame YS Reddy with proofs of corruption but no action yet and no media talks abt it. When the higher post like president, CEC/EC... politicised, this is what your a going to see!

Varun is not guilty. Since the villages he visited had no toilet, he was forced to emmit his excreta from mouth in public.

EC is supporting UPA
by Vikas on Mar 23, 2009 01:19 PM  | Hide replies

Known goondas Mohd shahabuddin, taslimuddin, Pappu yadav, etc have several murders and rape cases against them. they are contesting.

since they belong to UPA, Election commision doesnt take any action against them.

Just for some statements, EC is trying to kick Varun.

Is giving statements more serious crime than rapes and murders ?

Unfortuantely under our law, they have to be convicted for more then 2 years to be disqualified to contest election. EC cannot do anything. Let us not get carried away.

There is something wrong with our judicairy system which takes several decades to decide on such cases. Till then this crimials are free to contest election.

Varun will also get benifit of court case going on for years and can keep spreading hatred, till court decides the issue. That is unfortuatne.

But the quesiton is with all this going on, what sort of India we will have after 20 years?

EC's direction/advice not to field Mr.Varun Gandhi
by swami pudipeddi on Mar 23, 2009 01:04 PM  | Hide replies

EC itself admitted that it cannot debar Mr.Varun Gandhi from contesting election, then how it can advice? When day in and day out Mr.RajTachkrey is fuming statements at public meetings giving rise to hatred between people belonging to differents states particularly northern states, Bihar, UP, why EC is not stepping in and cancelling the party's registration? Why the Govt. is a silent spectator? Why cannot our legal pundits make him responsible? Why cannot EC debar criminals from contesting Elections? How Mr.Sibhu Soren became CM or continuing as mP even after his conviction? Ofcourse he got releif from the judgement of SC. How others who are in jails are continuing as MPs and attending Parliament Sessions with special permission form Courts? First there should be some reforms on these issues before signling out Mr.Varun Gandhi and advising the parties not to field him on their behalf. an EC prevent him from contesting as an Indpenedent Candidate and get support from BJP lyolists of Mr.Sanjay Gandhi in Congress and other parties?
