What should we do??
by Truth on Mar 23, 2009 06:09 AM  | Hide replies

What should we do when a hate-monger like Thackeray(regional politics) or Varun Gandhi(religious politics) makes speeches filled with hate, aimed at polarizing the already bitter society? Unfortunately, years of passive watching in the hope that their ideology will fail and that this will only inspire them to introspect and change only seems to embolden them cause they now think that they are above law..

Any ideas on how we can deal with these people? If we do not deal with these menaces today, surely we will not have a united India when we need it the most...

Voting them out of office is the best idea. But some(most?) people like what Varun and Thackeray said. In that case we Indians are pulling ourselves down.

THere is a fundamental disconnect with some people..
by Peter Parker on Mar 23, 2009 03:41 AM  | Hide replies

Remember India is a union of many nations (rashtra) and not one "nation". Nehru tried to hijack the union concept by trying to merge it with that of a hindi speaking union. The tamil's thanks to the dravide munnetra kazhagam opposed that and it sank then and there.
Again i would refer readers to the European Union. Just like India, the EU is composed of caucasians (similar racial composition) and a common religion (x'ianity). However at no point does the EU say because German is the majority language everyone should speak german. Also at no point do you expect italians to keep quite if there is a mass migration that will change the demographics of that, even if that migration is from within the EU.
Movement for work is alright but the scale of migration from N India to Maharashtra goes way beyond that. Personally i feel that even gujarat and Karnataka are suffering from this same issue. Its just that at this point it is smouldering within homes.

Guess you have a point there mate... you are in support of the 'sons of the soil' theory because you feel it hurts you. Let me ask you, how many years ago you came to MH? How many years ago your ancestors were in MH? If you could tell me that you have lived in the same village for 2000 years atleast, you are right to have your belief. YOu should be working in the SAME village, having the same profession. Well, come to think of it, I think I am pushing the caste system of old down your throat.. But, that is what you asked for..

Remember India is a union of many nations (rashtra) and not one "nation".

Who told you this BS??

The basic problem with this issue is nothing but ignorance. Sadly not a single national level leader is there to tell the truth bluntly.
India is divided as multiple states just for the ease of ruling. It doesn't authorize any additional privileges to any one in a state just because his/her mother delivered him there. A poor bihari migrant and Raj Thackeray is having exactly same privileges in maharashrta or any other state. Speaking the language of that state doesn't give any additional privileges to any..

Maharashtra is for Indians, Karnataka os for Indian, TN for Indians, WB is for Indians so and so.

As an Indian I feel ashamed reading stories of such clowns..

What is the difference between Raj T and Kasab?? I feel Raj is more venomous and will make more damages to India than what Kasab did during those 2-3 days.

Its been decades together that we have people who create regional and religious hatred to become politicians; politicians who oppose projects like Tata Nano for political gains.

We can bring a change by voting for the right person and persuading/educating people around you to vote for the right person.

Loksatta is the only party which said It will not use
1) Money
2) Liquor
3) Religious hatred
4) Regional hatred to win in elections.

It is the only party which said it will not go for strikes to protest against government polocies but will protest in a democratic way.

For a country like India which has a 1100 MW power deficiency importing nuclear technology for power generation is very important. Loksatta is the only party which was not part of the UPA (ruling coilation) which supported the Nuclear deal and urged other parties to support the deal which is very essential for our country.

When govt increased fuel prices because of the increased prices in gulf countries all oppositon parties did unfruitful works like using bullock carts to goto assembly. But loksatta is the only party which said we should reduce our dependency on oil (petrol) we should start using unconventional resources and fuel efficient technologies.

It is the only party which talks about providing good education and health facilities, infrastructure.

Let us all contribute by voting for the right person and campaign for parties like Loksatta which has great principles

You fool let the government take away your home and livelihood in the name of progress and see how you react.
You think these dirt-bag beaurocrats that don't even speak your language are going to reimburse you for it ? and that too for what valuation. All these so called SEZ's are nothing but land-grabs by the likes of reliance / Tata etc.

"You fool let the government take away your home and livelihood in the name of progress and see how you react. " That is an emotional argument. It has nothing to do with the law of the land. just because someone is rich today does not mean he/she will continue to be rich tomorrow. I hope that delivers the message. One has to continuously change for reaping rewards of progress. Just bcos cuffe parade people are rich in 21st century does not mean they will be rich 50 yrs from now. Demographics change, regions change and so do attitude.

Hi Peter,

I was just trying to tell people to vote and for the right person and few good things about one of the best party in the country.

I am not from Bengal, but what ever I read in the news papers about the compensation being provided in case of the Tata Nano project to the farmers and their families and felt government was giving enough compensation, but I agree that I wasn't in their postion to make a judgement. But we do have politicians opposing good projects just for political gains.
Please vote for the right person.

Now Remember Nehru on why he opposed to Language based states!
by Kabeer on Mar 23, 2009 12:41 AM

Now one should remember Nehru! Particularly all those who are Nehru baiters and believe Nehru bashing is fashionable!

Nehru staunchly opposed alongwith Ambedkar creation of states on linguistic basis! But chauvnists like Potti Sreeramulu etc didnt listen and went on to die in hunger strikes. Their foolish deaths compelled Nehru to acceede to the demands of formation of states on linguistic lines much to his displeasure!

Now you are feeling the impact of that creation of states on linguistic lines; people like Raj and Bal Thackeray are behaving as if they are the God appointed protectors and Maharashtrian pride and the NTRs of Andhra believe that they are the only custodians of Telugu cultures!

Good insight to the history... If its true, everybody should think again if what was done was the best way out... else we should have new options for demarcating the state boundaries for the betterment of our countries future..

Okay, let us think for a moment that what you said is valid... if Nehru hadn't divided on linguistic lines and just divided into grids, then what??? Even then, people like the Thackerays will continue to create trouble. We should see a way of putting such people out of society and punishing their ideology, no other way to curb this menace.

Why BSP and Others are Provoking him
by Vijay Kurhade on Mar 23, 2009 12:36 AM  | Hide replies

Isnt BSP and few from Bihar responsible by putting banners like

UP ke samman ke liye; Maharashtra mein Maidan Mein
our
UP hamari hain ab Maharashtra ki bari hain

Why EC is not asking them too follow code of conduct so people like Raj wont be provoked; I feel parties from north are indirectly helping him become bigger.

Raj Thackeray is Right...
by Peter Parker on Mar 23, 2009 12:17 AM  | Hide replies

Its time to kick these psuedo indians ie. bhaiji's back to their own lands. A union does not mean that demographics can be allowed to change that rapidly. We can see through your game plans and soon will escalate to even more a higher level of protesting if you do not change your ways.
Just because there is European Union does not mean that France will itself to Be Germanized and vice versa. Similarly so will Maharashtra and Maharashtrian's do all in their power to prevent the linguistic genocide that is being perpetrated on them. Raj Thackeray is the only leader that is saying in the open what was being said for a long time in private. For that alone he deserves the support of like minded people.

Jai Maharashtra
Jai Bhavani

Mr peter parkar you dont know any thing. Dont be carried away by the speeches of these panchvi pass, that to with muscle power ,so called messiahs of Marathi manoos. Their kith and kin dont speak marathi language at all. They all study in convent schools ,their off springs know nothing about rich cultural heritage of Maharashtra. They have mugged up only a few words like "Jai Maharashtra" ,"Marathi Manoos" etc and have been successful (surprisingly)in fooling the highly literate ,intelligent and the most patriotic people of Maharashtra.People in our Nation swear by the name of Great Maratha Warriors and several Freedom Fighters this region has produced. What did Raj Thakray's ancestors do. Sitting or shitting on the FENCE.What an irony that in this state one is respected if one speaks English but hated if someone speaks the National Language. Not only that,In Mumbai, Pune and Nagpur even Marathi speaking highly educated and intelligent young people are unable to find suitable jobs. Can someone count how many children of Thakeray Family study in Marathi medium schools? They are all fooling poor innocent people and Nothing else. Our respected media gets one more story and police also let this Dog out once in a while ,since he wears an AINAK or CHASHMA (aka designer imported Goggles) and this insane person with lowest IQ is perceived as MAHATAMA. JAI HO ! God save our country.

It's not necessary to study in Marathi medium to preserve Marathi culture. Irish people learn in English but still they have preserved Irish culture. It's personal grooming more than anything else, this is what is lacking in UP Biharis. The problem with UP/Bihar is that 100% politicians are thugs in one way or the other politicians in Maharashtra are highly educated and have atleast some moral values. And whom are you referring to Panchavi pass? What's the qualification of UP Bihari politicians like Lalu, Mulayam, Paswan, Mayawati? The most communal politician V. P. Singh was also from UP, wasn't he? The root cause of situation is that there can not be industry in UP Bihar unless ethics are followed by their own people. No body (absolutely nobody) is thinking of investing there why? The development of these states is in the hands of their own people! I support Raj for simple reason that if all UP Biharis migrate to Mumbai / Maharashtra there will be no development in their own respective states, if they do not go to their own states and if they do not try to improve situation over there themselves.

Remember, your marathi manoos in states where bhaiyas are majority if meted the same treatment, are you going to save their families? where was raj thackarey when terrorists were killing innocents in CST? He couldnt stop his own people getting killed, there is no point acting like a warrior, if he had real guts, he should have protected his people then.

You are talking like an absolute idiot and deliberately emotionalizing the issue...these are two separate issues..

Terrorist attacking Mumbai is a national issue for which paramilitary forces, police and the commandos are equipped to handle....why should Raj Thackeray intervene??
What yare you trying to show?? That Raj is a coward?? That he should have taken a hail of bullets, what for??
Don't talk like a reatrd...

Terrorist attacked India, so why didn't Laloo brave the bullets??

Raj is taking care of a very important issue...that is throwing out illegal migrants from Bihar and UP..and we Marathis are all with him!!
