REMEMBERING THE CONGRESS FOREFATHERS "If it was not for Jawaharlal Nehru who thought of a mixed economy, we would have been in a different situation.
If Indira Gandhi did not have the foresight of nationalising banks, what would have happened to all the private banks today? If Rajiv Gandhi had not thought of revolutionising information technology in the country, we would have been lagging far behind. The Congress has always thought of the poor, weaker sections
This success story of the past five years is important because the previous non-Congress Government ruled for nine years and had not been able to achieve anything, or record any development. achievements of Current UPA at a glance:
National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme - a great relief to common people Right To information Act Loan Waver for Rs 60,000 Crores for Farmers Chandrayan-India Joined Elite Club Railway in Huge profit Anti Balistic Missile Sys developed Brahmos Missile-the fastest in world Agricultural Growth Improved Defense Strategies Re-alligned with US Emerged as the 2nd fastest growing Economy More IITs Infrastructure growth prioritized Kashmir, no more inefficiencies as in Kargil, No more Coffin Biz, BJP's attempt to isolate Kashmir foiled Metro rails Pay Increment for central government employees

Das if you dont' know..or have not read, keep your mouth shut. Indira Gandhi was a shame for the nation, India did not move an inch during her rule. She was ruthless, insecure aathvi pass..hope u know that ? Did Indira even grduated ? India was 10 times more corroupt during her rule. She just gave fiery speeches to get the votes of poor. Press was her pet.Media had no freedom. All she wanted was POWER for herself. You sang all the good songs about congress..but did not mention PV Narsimha Rao. It was his policies and political will to get them implemented, that laid the foundations of modern India.Do you know how many times Manmohan singh tendered his resignation but his master asked him carry on. Offcourse BJP suckled the mangoes of the trees whose seeds were sown by Narsimha Rao !! India need leader like him. All these parties have agendas and beleifs based on vote banks. They dont' follow these beliefs but change them as the vote bank stats changes.
Dont' just blindly caste vote, its the most powerful weapon we have.Give it to the BEST person, irrespective of the PARTY. National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme >> More jobless then ever (some leaders pocketed money in the process) Right To information Act >> Under compulsion of S/C ruling Loan Waver for Rs 60,000 Crores for Farmers >> Only a promise, lacs of farmer suicides in actual Agricultural Growth Improved (stagnated in actual) see the price of food items. Defense Strategies Re-alligned with US >> surrounded with enemies, US's first priority remains Pakistan. Kashmir, no more Hindus left. Metro rail>> What metro rail? is it unique in India Pay Increment for central government employees >> in attempt to buy their votes, what about their efficiency. And High rank in corruption, terrorism, inaction against terrorism. road infrastrure almost stopped, Poor rating of the country by international rating agencies. Nothing to rejoice, This government has taken the country ten years back

if nehru would not hv been pm we wud hv been economicaly better off,he only put the psu's which were a huge drain on resources and constantly in red, we would not hv lost the china war, if indira would not hv been there we would not hv the license raj and division of states on language/ we would not hv had terrorism in punjab, we would not had sikh riots. if rajiv would not hv been there we could hv saved the lives of those brave soldiers who were sent to srilanka, hamne dekha hai/dhekhenge is only what he knew. all our woes today are due to these people who hv pushed our nation to pits. no wonder all of them ended the way they did, after all they had the curse of so many people.all rich farmers are the ones who benefitted. by the time our defense is upgraded we are behingd the tech by at least 20 yrs, we hv got the famous stories of kickbacks/harshad mehtas/satyams. this is mess called congress

Well written report Ms. Sheela Bhatt!! everything is acceptable except the myth that muslims of middle east or Arab live in their glorious past. Mind you despite being bonded to their culture and practice they have made wonders in the global platform. Cant you see that being in their desired attire they are infact ruling the world today?? their significant growth even in those places where oil is not found is a proof to their wit and modernisation. Please make a point to write another article to clarify these points and highlight the fact after being convinced that following their style may workout things for us too.

Ghouse Mohiuddin, how many of them have won Nobel prizes (despite having a population strength of about 1.2 billion)?
The oil fields are on long lease to the American companies. The price of Crude-oil is fixed at New York and London Exchange Futures! The Arabs do nt have even the technology to refine hydro-carbon (crude oil) which is their bread and butter (or kaboos). Iraq imports about 30% of refined oil from Reliance in Jamnagar!!
Except for a few oil rich West Asian Countries and Malaysia, the condition in all ther 1slamic countries is really pathetic. How long are you going to rest on your past laurels??

Mr. JGN I didn’t exepect someone to respond here with such understandard information. How much do you know about noble literates, let me test your GK, how many in your knowledge or people around you who have executed noble jobs far far better then the one who have been recognized by the panel. It is a known fact that international committees identify those whose impact falls on the international community or works along their standards. Arabs have created niche in the global market not compromising with the quality, it is the diplomatic brain of US that it doesn’t get involved in any deal unless it has acquired stakes in that particular business. Thus you are giving facts which are true but in a certain circumstances. It looks you have worked closely with the arabs or in their countries but it is sad that you haven’t understood their style of functioning.

I have never worked in any Arabian Countries. I do not have any hatred for the Arabs but no use resting of past laurels.
Shellaji, come down to earth. Sitting in an airconditioned room in New Delhi and viewing India as a whole from there does not make sense. The ground realities are totally different. Sonia & co may be great for congressmen, but the younger generation of this country does not even recognize her. Only Congress psychophants do. Walk through the streets of Nellore (AP), Mangalore (Karnataka), Trichy (TN) and rural Bengal, Bihar, UP, MP, Chattisgarh and most of the states, you will see how many people even think of congress when going to vote. LK Advani may not be a good prime ministerial candidate, but voters vote for BJP and not the candidate, as in left parties. Congress as a national party, has only about 6-7 states (some of them so small that it will not make any difference in national politics. The reality is that what the remains of Congress party, will be wiped out in this election. K. Parameswran, Rourkela

applaud for your sensible and reasonable speech, which I echo. I live in Bangalore Bannerghatta Road. If anyone wants to see, what is difference between BJP and Non-BJP, then come here. All the sub-roads have been tarred after the state got its first BJP govt. I wonder what will they do in 5 years. Congress can't even dream to come back and I wish Sangliana comes back to BJP and SMA Krishna too join BjP. These two are the only non-congress politician from Karnataka. I like Veerappa Moily; but he is working as an executive in Congress party; no touch with public.

Re: Re: Sonia and Congress
by Ashwin Lewis on Mar 23, 2009 03:17 PM
What the hell has this got to do with his wife and pants. Putting a finger on someone else would not help you making your self a good judge.
Remember you talk about wifes wearing pants, what about you, do you wear khadi and sleep, or go to work with khadi clothes. Do not talk about indian culture in such a way that you would not put your children in English Medium Schools, teach them Hindi in a hindi medium school. Ban English...Just rubbish blabbering here is not going to change the world. Do you all people think that all what every other party have done is excellent towards the progress of this country. All the parties are just the same. its people like you who would have absolutely no work get into this argumets, have caste and creed fights. People who have no work have ideologies not of their own but of all what the politicians have induced in your minds.
Use your brains not your heart for Voting. Thats all i can say.

Cool down, yaar... She explains herself in the beginning of the article. The views expressed by a senior Congress leader's 'off-the-record' conversation.
Has Sheila herself expressed any opinion in the article?
The fact is that all the alliances we have, are opportunistic and selfish. No question about that. That's why you will see a lot of independent candidates getting through to the LS, because in such constituencies, people find none from the major parties a worthy candidate.
As of now, it does appear that UPA is leading NDA in claiming to form the next Govt., simply because of the blunder of NDA in naming LK Advani as PM candidate beforehand. They should have chosen him only after the elections!

Muthalik was sponsored by Congress party. He was one of the speaker at a function organized by Congress party just a day after the Mangalore incident. Delhi CM was the Chief Guest at that funcation. So you can ask Mr. Suresh Kalmadi (who organized the event) or Ms. Dikshit (who was the Cheif Guest) for more Pink things!

The Congress Party is capable of going to any extent to meet its not so honourable goals. Remember, how rabid communalists and Chamchas of Bal Thackeray Viz. Bhujbal, Rane, Sanjay Nirupam were welcomed with open arms to join Congress and given senior Ministerships. Congress is capable of sinking to the lowest depths to suit their goals. Sonia Gandhi's blessing instantaneously converts communalists into high class secualr people. It is her MIDAS TOUCH!!!
Re: Re: Re: GIVE ME PINK
by Ruben Parmar on Mar 23, 2009 02:13 PM
If you are talking about Sanjay Nirupam, Narayan Rane, what BJP has done in Gujarat. A person sitting with BJP State President talks to Media that if Congress gives him ticket, he is ready to contest. Next day, he gets BJP tickets. Cadre based, disciplined party has given tickets to three congressmen by hurting the feelings of grassroot level BJP workers in Gujarat. Whatever we aregue, this country cannot be run without Congress - This is a ground reality. Congress is not the party, it is a 'Vichar Dhara'.
Re: Re: Re: Re: GIVE ME PINK
by JGN on Mar 23, 2009 02:17 PM
That "Vichar Dhara" is responsible for all problems in our Country. Gandhiji wanted Congress party to be dissolved soon after independence but the corrupt and selfish Congress leaders did not heed his advice.

At least they did not sleep with the jihadis. The Great Minority affairs minister of Congress party, Janab Abdul Rehman Antulay was all praise for his jihadi brothers. Had a minister in China made such a statement, he would have faced the firign squad the next day but in India, the Congress party could not even remove him from the Cabinet.
