by Prem Mohan on Mar 20, 2009 09:07 PM  | Hide replies

The people of India are sick and tired of such nonsense. India should have only one political party -- Congress. We will all have the benefit of the resolute leadership of Mdm Sonia Gandhi, Dr Manmohan Singh and Mr Rahul Gandhi.

Are you form the house of Pirated Gandhi? If not you must be joking, right? The root cause of this illiteracy, poverty, untouchability, infanticide, farmer suicide, poor infrastructure, corrput administration etc ect all are due to the congi rule for 50 yeras. All these are lost opportunities. It was like one party then... why we are still like this when Korea, Singapore etc surged in less than 40 years.Dont talk nonsence here.

George Nolis
Varun a better candidate than Rahul
by George Nolis on Mar 20, 2009 09:04 PM  | Hide replies

I have seen nothing wrong in the statement of Mr.Varun Gandhi if it is read alongwith the context. In the past many similar utterances were made especially by Shiv Sena chief Bal Thakre and his cronies and he had openly dared to arrest him for his utterances but nothing was done even by the mightiest of the chief minister such as Sharad Pawar, Deshmukh etc., Varun is a young man and must have gone slightly overboard in his utterances considering the environment in which we are all dwelling. But it will be unfair on the EC's part to single out him and punish him for this. If the EC's think they are so strong then first they should stop the open distributions of money that is happening all over the country and to stop people like Sanjay Dutt, Mohd.Shahabuddin, who have been convicted by the courts of India even if they have come out on bail on appeal from contesting the elections untill they have been completely acquitted. Isn't it a mockery of the electoral process in India which is happening in the name of 'democracy'.

What George wrote is absolutely right. hwat has the EC done when the DMK and Congress party worlers are openly giving curency notes to the voters. congress party wllgo to any length just to tarnishthe BJP. Dont the public remember what the Ityalian madam called Narendra Modi during thegujerat election. But Modi being more experienced and tough Italian baby sitter could not succeed. Poor Varun is in experienced that is why the EC thinks they can put him off. One thing let measkall thsese secular criminals, canthey go to any muslim country and open their mouth and say about secularism. is there any muslim country who gives public money to the muslims to go for Haj and mecca? Here for the sake of vote the criminals and goondas of congress will doanything including licking the feet of the mullahs.you know the congress history itself is about coruptioon and fraud. have you forgotten the case whenthe congress prime minister made someone to imitate gher voice over the phone ans asked the generalmanager of SBI delhi to handover 65 lakhs of rupeesw to the PM. Whenthe person was cought and under trial they made sure he is killed any news of that instance where are the congressmen then?
another case have yuallforgotten how many innocent Sikhs were butchered in delhi by the congres goondas in 1984.

The BJP has done the right thing by not accepting Varun's comments. Let the people of Pilibhit decide fate of Varun. The BJP should gain some considerable ground in UP this time to be able to come to power.

Varun still candidate of BJP - What a travesty of justice
by jamsheed abumohammed on Mar 20, 2009 08:55 PM  | Hide replies

What kind of political party BJP is which still back Varun Gandhi despite his communal hate speech almost brought misery to his party. Unlike Shiv Sena which backed this novice despite his denial, BJP distanced itself besides disapproving his speech. What is more unfortunate for the BJP is that even the hardened Hindutva leaders were not as vocal and articulate about their hate of Muslims like the Varun in Philibhit. Like father like son, Arun continued where his father Sanjay Gandhi left at Turkmangate, where he singled out one community for his forced family planning programme. It runs into his blood, otherwise, a new entrant to the politics would not have spoken in the vein Varun did in Philibhit. He was certainly playing to the Hindu gallery and to those Sadhus and religious who assembled to hear him. He was seen turning towards them touching their feet. His speech was so amusing that some of the people were seen laughing at the tirade and leaving the venue in utter disbelief. The BJP leader in his budding stage should have been properly counselled as to how he should behave in public if wants to project himself as a leader of the people. This country is a multi-religious and multi-cultural where people of different faith live through out the length and breath of this country. One cannot just single out one community for support. He needs the support of all if he wishes to win the elections seriously. He would be facing a stiff challenge from Cong candidate in Philibhit.
