Why double standards??
by Jai Babu on Mar 20, 2009 02:07 PM  | Hide replies

This is not to support Varun Gandhi, if he has made those rabidly communal statements attributed to him. But the Congress party playing "holier than thou" is height of hypocrisy- just yesterday the news channels flashed that the ongress has left seats in Kerala for its allies- Mu slim League and Kerala Congress (which is a Christian party supported by the Ch urch!). Similarly the CPM is backing the Madani's PDP candidate! CPI & DMK had tie up with Mu slim league in TAmil Nadu! Similarly the Majlis and MIm type of paries or even the Kasmir parties are blatanly religion oriented! True Secularism means Religion is kept out of government and vice versa. One law for all! Nothing More Nothing less!!

Mohammed Irfan-Have u read the entire post?? And can by any stretch of imagination the Mu slim League be called a secular party??? We should ban all parties which vow to espouse the cause of only a particular community!! Boss India is still secular because the majority Hindu community is tolerant and secular! That is the point I was trying to make. The Ch urch in Mizoram and Nagaland and in certain cases in Kerala, can back candidates but the minute anyone talks about the majority community, hacles are raised. I howver do not condone the "words" that Varun Gandhi is supposed to have used, but the ferocity of the attack from all corners on Varun and the BJP is there for all to see. I rest my case

Due to Aunt Soniaji's mercifulness and broad mindedness, Varun has got some relief. If he has to grow fast in BJP and have a bright political career, he should seek political guidance of Rahulji and Soniaji.

I regret not being a mufti. Had I been one, I would have issued just one fatwa that going with the BJP amounts to committing kufr.” That was senior Congress leader Imran Kidwai speaking at an election rally in Chandigarh on March 15, the BJP told the Election Commission on Thursday.

Kufr, it explained, is blasphemy and disbelieving in the Quran or in any tenets of Islam and a person practising kufr is a kafir.

A party that is still reeling under attacks following Varun Gandhi’s alleged “inflammatory remarks” against a community, stung the Congress on Thursday with a CD expose that shows the head of the Congress’ minority cell invoking Islam to seek votes for the ruling party’s candidate in Chandigarh. The CD was shown to journalists at the BJP headquarters.

When Kidwai spewed venom and sought votes on religious lines at a rally in the neighbourhood of Jama Masjid in the city, AICC in-charge for Punjab Mohsina Kidwai and party candidate and Union Minister Pawan Banswal were also present.

The BJP suspects that Kidwai’s words might have the Congress’ endorsement since the party has neither condemned nor distanced itself from the remarks of the senior party leader.

The BJP, which denied that the CD expose was a tit-for-tat reaction to the Varun Gandhi episode, has petitioned the EC to file a case against Kidwai. The BJP also wants the commission to act against the Congress for n

Do we really need religion in the 21st century?
by Sanjay Baxi on Mar 20, 2009 02:00 PM  | Hide replies

We have made tremendous achievement in science, now we know how the universe in formed, how old is the universe, we know all about the solar system, the sun and the moon, the galaxy and the stars. We have decoded the mistery of origin of life and how species have evolved. We have made tremendous achievement in mathematics and computers, and engineering. We have done tremendous achievement in medicine and many many deseases can be cure which used to be deadly previously. We have made tremendous achievement in communication and we can go to any part of the world at any moment. Mass media like television and internet has opened the entire world, and beyond to the common people. We may not know many things but the future generation will decode them. All these knowledge do not belong to one country or race. These are human achievements.
But unfortunately, some of us are still fighting for some false belief, like God or Satan, some believe more in dogmas then logic, all in all some are still living in darkness, unaffected by the change the knowledge of science has brought. In this age of communication, computers, genetic engineering, robotics and so forth, do we really have to believe in something which cannot be proven?

No it is based on our collective experience, previously we did not know many things like gravitation, and solar system, and protons and elctrons etc. But now we know them. Similarly many things will be known in future, which we do not know now. Believe me, if you are in science you will know we learning some new every day, in some part of the world. It is a continuous process.
You picked only two sentences and ignored the rest. You know why?

Good question, you know there is a difference between philosophy and religion. There is no harm in practicing philosophy, because it also involves logic, however it is not the cup of everyone's tea. What common people practice is religion, which is based on some crude belief systems, and which was created some clever people to control the mass and their money and land. I hope you have got the answer.

Somebody hs written that we should focus on development and not religion. This theory may work in west but not here. Here religion is a way of life.People live with it.Most of our population believes in god and not just believe but live with it.So religion is insaparable part from us.We should be proud of our glorious past and our culture ,our literature or in a nutsell our way of thinking.Self Esteem is the only basis for regaining our lost position.mimicing others language and others way of thinking will only strengthen your complex. So beware of the party, people, school of thought who underestimate our past and our potential to regain the same. vande matram . I fully and strongly endorse your views! Both religion and development are important for human beings.
After so much progress, the western world has realised the importance of religion and yoga. That is why they are turning to Hindusim in large numbers.
It is a matter of regret that we Indians are the first to degrade and belittle our religion!
All Hindus should vote for BJP!
Make Varun the deputy Home Minister in the BJP govt now!
Varun will be the best choice for PM in 2014/2019!
