Don't ridicule people for their greediness to take Rs.4000. For crores of people in India, Rs.4000/- is a very big amount.

model code of conduct
by BHARAT on Mar 18, 2009 09:57 AM  | Hide replies

Every now and then we make a mockery of this model code of conduct. This anounce of election must not stop the government aid to already running plans as in 2008 also, the poor couples were provided not only the monetory help but also a plateform for conducting there marriage.
The new programs definitely come under the umbrella of model code of conduct as it may lure poor people to one party or the other but the support programs, which had been conducted in the past during marriage seasons must not be forced to fall pray of the election schedule.

Is the government giving out alms to these people?

What can one do with Rs. 4000 and Rs.1000?These are just tactics to get votes. People should be ocnsidered fools if they delay their marriages for this purpose.

What are you talking about?? The govt. is giving them money to marry and not to start a new life.. ornaments, utensils and 4000 for a marriage puja should not be very less. ask sm1 below poverty line and then u'll know the price of Rs.5000..
Apply some sense.Don't indiscriminately criticize a govt.'s policy.

I am not commenting on merit of this scheme, but certainly Rs 1000 or more mean a lot in rural and tribal area.
I am engaged with soem NGOs and have experience that even Rs. 500 will do a lot for a couple to get married. I am not talkign about our urban and other people who spent Rs 5000 on a dinner for his girl friend/boy friend.
Come out of your luxury and see the remote part of your country where having one pair of clothes (that is also only Saree or a Lungi) is a luxury.

Those poor people dont want 1RS TV, free TV, 2RS/KG wheat or free power like state like TN, AP, Maharastra but what they want is marriage, rest is that they will share burden of there own..So this marriage is arranged to bring 2 wheels of a life together. So memom people like you are only vote bank for few political parties. So, think wise and be honest to whom you are going to vote....Atleast for this General Election-2009
