a beautiful and timely quote on our view of history
by Sriram Subramanian on Mar 19, 2009 11:35 AM

It matters little to both the sides on this reading of history – of Hin dus pitted against Mus lims in the medieval ages - that Babur defeated a Mus lim Ibrahim Lodhi at Delhi’s throne, Ghauri defeated Prithvi Raj’s army which was led by a Mus lim and Ghaznavi had one of his top generals who was a Hin du named Tilak. It also matters little in this reading of history that when Akbar and Maharana Pratap fought at Haldighati then Akbar’s army was led by a Hin du Raja Man Singh and Maharana Pratap’s army was led by a Mus lim Hakim Khan Suri. It also matters little in this reading that the Sikh Guru Arjan Dev who was executed by Aurangzeb had the foundation stone of Golden Temple laid by Mian Mir a Sufi saint and had included so many sufi songs in the Sikh holy book Guru Granth Sahib. Or that Shivaji who fought with Aurangzeb had a Pathan unit and one of his most trusted aides was Didi Ibrahim, a Mus lim and that Aurangzeb sent Raja Jaisingh, a Hin du to fight him. Or that when Babur defeated Rana Sanga at Panipat the latter’s army had thousands of Muslim soldiers.

it is only irrelevant because we have silently accepted the twisted interpretations of history by the chaddiwalas which show hin dus are perpetual victims! we are becoming like the jews, demanding more from the government because we have been 'persecuted by mughals' in the past... that is distortion of history.

At last the terrorists came to their senses and planning to attack politicians :) Looks like India will witness good economic growth and prosperity very soon once the terrorists uproot all the politicians.. Awesome! Only concern is that they don't kill civilians and bomb public property and execute their mission to perfection.
