Dear Chandrasekhar, I think you must understand people by their creditianals & wat they are capable of instead of them being from a particular caste, creed ,religion, sex or something else.

I think Chandrasekhar was correct. However I would suggest that he drops MMS from the list.
These people are no longer rubber stamps but erased rubber stamps. 1.Pratibha 2.Meera Kumar 3.Ansari (Do we even know such a person exists)

Friends ! My area of concern is just one thing....All politicans, The Constitution, and the syatem along with media claims of being away from discrimination then why is there so much hype if she belong to a dalit decent. It doesnt matter if she had been high caste, low caste or watevr. Yes i admit the system is like that but friends look beyond the picture being given hype in the media that a Dalit womam will be speaker..... We as common people who can only raise there voice in blogs should understand one thing- DONT LET THEM BEFOOL US.
from now onwards she should understand that she is not a part personeel but honestly control the the house , also should give more time to speak to the oppositions and respect the house. wish u all the best.
Lok Sabha speaker is actually the first among the equals. He has presiding rights on Lok Sabha to control the proceedings, rowdy MPs, their querrels, absues etc. He can even take punitive actions against irrating MPs.He certifies a bill as money bill, presidest over the joint sessions of LS RS.
Now the question is- equipped with such a wide ranging powers is the Speaker in today's time really capable of carrying out the Constitutional functions efficiently or is he/she is mearly a rubber stamp?
Since, the speaker belongs to the largest representative political party in the Parliament so he is elevated to this post by his co-fellowmen. And its really a challenging task to control his own people. We have been watching the ugly scenes on TVs where the house diginity has been lowered many atimes.
Ms Meera Kumar as a first womean-speaker is a path-breaking mark but will she be able to show her real grit that remains to be seen in coming times.
People have given UPA another chance to serve the country, which time will only tell how they perform, likewise similiar 'wait-n-watch' also applies to Ms Kumar.
If both fail, then definately it may be their last chance because now the larger chunk of electorate wants the good performances and definately not merely good promises.

Her task is Very Great..She has to beat the impeccable & flawless record,& excellent statesmanship qualities of the previous speaker,Mr Somnath Chatterjee.A great task means she has to be above petty politics etc..if UPA allows her, I mean.
All these congress politicians who fill up top posts with dalits while fooling them that they are very cosiderate to the dalits are hypocrytes. They also say that qulification and true ability does not matter . Will any of these hypocrtical politicians who shed crocodile tears make dalits as pilots of the plane that they fly? Are the personal physicians of these politicians dalits ? Why do they have to look at AIIMS and Appolo hospitals when it comes to their health and safety ? Why cant they seek a simple dalit street doctor? Atleast the dalit doctor will have the satisfaction of treating high profile Congress men? There are so many schools run by dalits, will any of these these politicians send their children to such schools ? Why do they have to look at quality when it comes to them and their welfare. Last but not the least will Sonia and and crowd make a Dalit as PM ? It is a challenge !

Giridhar, your ranting is pointless, Dalit or no Dalit if he or she is qualified, will definitly become pilot or Doctor to all so called high class, If quality is there, money & fame will come in search of you.So develop quality instead of Ranting & wasting precious time.
Yesterday , Ambika Soni , Sr Leader of Congress was saying that Congress has set an example by deputing Meera Kumar as Speaker , as he is Dalit Mahila ..
I am gfailed to Understand what Meera Kumar Knows about Dalit , she is Daughter of Jagjivan Ram , a Minister for Many years , then she was an IFS officer ... how come she can claim that she knows the Hardship which a poor Dalit Family is still facing in many parts of India ..

absolutely rubbish comments. When a person reaches that height i.e LS Speaker, be it Dalit, Brahmin, Christian. Muslim or any other sect does not know a poor family's suffering. Maybe their ancestors knew about the sufferings. Don't just critisize for the heck of it.

I beleive , Dalits are now not seen as poor Dalits ..facing hardship and all .. now the resevation policy is bringing them up ... , in fact now u shd see the Brahmins as "poor" Brahmin ... & days r not far ..when real hardship will be thrust upon them.
