KNOW YOUR FACTS--CONCLUDED
by SWAMI on Apr 29, 2009 05:01 PM  | Hide replies

Can our politicians stop stooping down to any lengths just for money

and power ? Like Mr.Sharad Pawar, who first ditched the Congress and

then ditched the people and aligned back with the Congress, just to be

in power..

Don’t be deceived. What appears to be communal is not communal, and

what appears to be secular is not secular. It is time we change our

thinking. Having said all this even BJP has not proved to be any

better.

But for now we need a change. Let us choose the lesser of the two

evils. The same party brought to power again and again means

encouraging unabated corruption. Stand up for this most tolerant and

ancient civilization and prevent this great nation from becoming a

communal battleground. As citizens of India we must vote for change.

Do you know that The Dr Manmohan Singh Scholarship is an international

award for study at St John's College at the University of Cambridge .

Instead of promoting Indian Universities and Rural Dvelopment, money

is given to foreign universities by Indian UPA Govt..

To secure Vote Bank , Congress assures Job in Public Sector /

Government to students passing from Madarasa i.e.Where Most of them

are not given proper education and guidance, which means so called

JEHADIS will be seen in Govt. soon.

the BJP could just drift rudderlessly, stirring up anti-democratic sentiments on issues like POTA and saffronised textbooks, but providing no effective opposition. Drift also means decline. We will soon know which option the BJP chooses. But none of them will be pleasant--unless the UPA makes a mess of things

Irregularities in purchases made for operation Vijay (Kargil War)

CAG has suspected scams in purchase of more than a dozen items during Operation Vijay. What is worse, all the supplies were either received or even contracted after cessation of hostilities and, therefore in no way useful for the Operation Vijay.

Supplies valued at Rs. 2,150 crores were received after the cessation of hostilities in July 1999, of which supplies worth Rs. 1,762.21 crore were received after six months of cessation of hostilities.

Supplies valued at Rs. 1,606.26 crores (75% of total purchases) were contracted after the cessation of hostilities.

In as many as 35 cases, due to relaxation of rules, Government knowingly paid Rs. 44.21 crore extra.

The worst case was purchase of expired ammunition, valued at Rs. 91.86 crores, and purchases in excess of requirement/authorization aggregating Rs. 107.97 crores.

Ammunition worth Rs. 342.37 crores was contracted for import on grounds of operational emergency, even though it was being produced in Indian ordinance factories.

Thus though critical supplies of clothing, ammunition and arms could not reach the troops during the operation Vijay, an amount of Rs. 1,046 crores in foreign exchange was spent fruitlessly.

According to CAG, to meet the demand of Operation Vijay and normal deficiency, in July/ October 1999, orders were placed with two foreign firms, for supply of 52775 pairs of Mul

The Bofors scandal was a major corruption scandal in India in the 1980s; the then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and several others were accused of receiving kickbacks from Bofors AB for winning a bid to supply India's 155 mm field howitzer. The scale of the corruption was far worse than any that India had seen before, and directly led to the defeat of Gandhi's ruling Indian National Congress party in the November 1989 general elections.

The scandal was worth Rs 150 billion (Rs. 150 Arabs).

The name of the middleman associated with the scandal was Ottavio Quattrocchi, an Italian businessman who represented the petrochemicals firm Snamprogetti. Quattrocchi was close to the family of Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and emerged as a powerful broker in the '80s between big business and the Indian government.

In January 2006, these frozen bank accounts were unexpectedly released by country's law ministry, apparently without the consent of the CBI which had asked for them to be frozen

A factor the BJP needs to note is that the aggressive pursuit of Hindutva as tried out in Gujarat will have at least two adverse consequences: one for the party and the other for the country. Post-elections, the Modi Experiment of Hindutva has turned the BJP into a coalition
pariah. From Jayalalitha to Mamata, from Naidu to Chautala, all of them have come to grief by aligning themselves with the BJP. The party that prided itself on its genius to cobble up and run a coalition now stands exposed as a party with which others are unwilling to do business. It is
hard to see how the BJP can lift itself out of this quagmire by harping on Hindutva.

HIndutva means nationalism, Hindutva means respect for all, Hindutva means opportunity for all. See Gujarat's Progress and comment ! Whenever it comes to the progress of Gujarat ppl start talking about Riots but no body sees BJP's governance in Gujarat after Godhra and Post Godhra riots. Why? Congress has fooled Muslims from last 60 Years if they really had worked for them, they would have a much better position by now ! but its individuals choice ppl like you still want to take side of congress just because you hate The word "HINDUTVA" you think its against your religion ! Just enjoy and be happy

fooling at that age and position
by dranil on Apr 29, 2009 04:57 PM

It is sad that at his age and the position (Ext. minister/ acting PM)Mr Pranab Mukherjee still believes in fooling people when he says that the party never fooled people. Can Mr. mukherjee say as to why poverty and also illiteracy is on increase? for he know that the Congress has been in power all the time since independence. And talking about left and saying that the party needs no support from them? it is laughing. Let us all wait for a few more weeks and witness that left and congress share the same platform and also the government and Mr. Mukherjee then will say that that was imperative to stop the 'communal forces' from forming the government. We always belive that at least old people should never speak lies.. however with our politicians there seems to be no such rules and that they are entitled to speak and do any thing that they like. We fear that instead of left, Mr. Mukherjee should not be forced to see stars in broad day light. On Tirmool Mr. Mukherjee says its people's wish however, same mr. Mukherjee will give a contradictory statement when some party joins hands with NDA. His standerd reply has been, they all are 'opportunists'. We feel Mr. Mukherjee should not go down to a level that is far low from his seniority and age.
