Kasab V/s Varun
by ramachandran on Apr 30, 2009 08:41 AM  | Hide replies

I did read the article and most of the comments. The comments from the readers show their level of political, social, IQ clearly. I am no BJP/RSS/VHP/Ram Sena follower. The crux of the whole point is that in dirty politics any thing is allowed in this "mera bharat mahan"
A surviving member of a team of killers is treated under IPC and takes months to file a proper FIR.
A political leader is placed under arrest under NSA as he allegedly ( or intentionally) expressing his opinion how the traitors of this country should be punished. Be it a "Aya Ram" or "Gaya Rahim".
I now really wish the commandos could spend one more bullet so that a sequel to "Afsal Guru" is not made by the GOI production company in New Delhi

the political leader you refer to made more than just express his opinion ... even though you claim not to be a BJP supporter, you certainly are one.

Varun tried to incite communal hatred towards musl1ms via inflammatory speeches ... such speeches cannot have the intensity and enough to maliciousness cause communal riots. The UP govt. was correct in apprehending varun and putting him in jail, although justifying use of a particular law or act is up to the lawyers to debate.

BJP knows that casuing riots will earn them h1ndu votes and that was varun's game plan. you seem to ignore the plight of innocents who are dragged from their homes and killed and burnt in the open during communal riots - whether the victim is h1ndu or a musl1m, these riots are unacceptable in any civilized society.

I definatly agree with you. If this is secularism then what is communalism ?
Because of these appeasements, now I started to believe strongly that BJP is better. You have two parties one talks for you and the other talks for the other people.. You have to chose one of them, in my true openion both are secular and both are communal. You need to decide who is on yur side.

We dont have any trouble living with anyone. But lately we are witnessing things that are making us change our opinions.

Do you see any reason commenting here on Varun in favour of even Kasab? Cos thats what these guys are doing. And we are opposing them. I think you are talking in your dreams.

varun and kasab are totally different ... varun says he is vegetarian and was fed lauki ... why does he care he wasn't served tandoori chicken.

varun is playing pol1tics here ... very correct during election times, but he cannot compare himself with kasab ... unless he thinks that the two can be.

all criminals in jail and all prisoners are fed with tax payers money ... terrorists caught in J&K and serving in jails are all fed with tax payer's money ... we cannot execute them (human rights issue) and we cannot free them (except when we need release of hostages)

how is kasab any different? he is being fed the same thing as given to other prisoners.

Because Kasab still has a long way to go before he is convicted. Till then it is the taxpayer's money that is feeding him.

I dont care about Varun's politics but I do care about the royal treatment of Kasab.

I am a supporter of Varun, I do not think that his speech has caused any kind of communal violence at all, however whenever i listen to Congress we get fed up, we dont get instigated to go and harm muslims when we listen to BJP speeches however we get fed up listening to Congress speeches on their pseudo secular stand.

Kasab a gunman?
by Ravikant Bhat on Apr 30, 2009 08:41 AM

I hope Rediff's editors understand the difference between a 'gunman' and a gun-toting terrorist. There have been repeated references to Kasab of late describing him as a 'gunman'. Internationally, a very objective and clear difference is made between gunmen - those who are responsible for homicides but do not necessarily subscribe any ideology that uses terrorism as means to propagate its message and those who use terrorism directed at killing innocent civilians regularly to propagate their ideology and message.

Kasab is a motivated terrorist who acting on behalf of a terrorist organisation carried out mass murders in Mumbai. Therefore all references should be made to him as terrorist and not a mere gunman. Wake up Rediff, don't indulge in such idiotic acts for the sake of being different!
