I would say 35 seats less than your predctions, 229 would be realistic, however give or take 5& , 217 - 229 would be my prediction.

I doubt the one seat in Kerala, as Thiruvananthapuram may go the Tharoor way, however Ramnad in TN is BJP's for the taking as both the Dravidian parties have put up political lightweights (future plans to join the NDA????) against BJP strongman, Thirunavukkarasar.

Form National Govt. in case of Hung Verdict!!!
by khairnar on Apr 23, 2009 01:13 PM

Open Letter to all political parties: Don't work against public opinion and cheat them and work against democracy by doing post poll alliances after the general election. In case of HUNG VERDICT or not getting atleast simple majority to any pre-poll alliances or single national political party, then they should understand that PEOPLE WANT A NATIONAL GOVT. leaded by the single largest party emerged after the general election result. Year 2004 was not the different, but managed postpoll alliances, you political parties made a big ULTA PULTA ALLIANCE but it could not govern the country and country's problem effectively. The people of India fed up with all the poltiical parties and their vote bank politics and psuedo communal and caste theories. Hence, they are giving verdict for all the Poltiical Parties and ask them to LEAD A NATIONAL GOVT. and not for one political party govt. or post poll patch up alliance Govt. since they should understand that they all are fighting each other in the general election and they are not deserving to make a post poll alliances. But CAN ONLY MAKE NATIONAL GOVT. THAT IS THE GENERAL PUBLIC'S VERDICT. TAKE IT OR DESTROY DEMOCRACY AS PER YOUR WISH!!! Public should also start agitation against forming a post poll alliance govt. against people's verdict and put a stop for post poll working arrangements in the future

Fact

This was telecast in makkal TV a Tamil channel today (22/4/09) in it's news. Warning the up chief minister ms.mayavathi, Mr singh in his public speech had stated " stop misusing power and harassing the congress workers... remember the CBI cases against you are still pending.. we had been magnanimous but if congress workers are continued to be harassed we also know how to use the powers of CBI " this statement I'm sure would have found mention in the north Indian media.

GVLNR is spot on.
by Mirch Masala on Apr 23, 2009 11:47 AM  | Hide replies

The mood in the country is Anti Congress that's that. One has to hear the street talk, even rabid Congress supporters are saying that the party has failed India.
The media keeps on highlighting one point : IF YOU DONT VOTE THE CONGRESS, DONT VOTE AT ALL.
This explains BJP's defeat in Delhi state assembly elections in 2008.
However, all that is long past now and I see a clear eagerness amongst urban voters. They will speak thru. their votes.
Top on their minds are the terror strikes since 2004. 70 Plus such strikes, resulting in deaths of 4000 odd people is simply not pardonable.
I was talking a group of people at my club and when I reeled out the numbers, they were dumb struck. They agreed that they have been bad citizens by not keeping track of this single most important issues against the Congress.
BJP is smart, they have kept their campaign low profile, but I know that VOLUNTEERS consisting of Laid off IT execs, Financial execs, Doctors, Lawyers and other educated people, have long ago started a door to door campaign increasing awareness of the NDA regime from 1998 to 2004.
This is reaping dividends.
GVLNR is right BJP is very smart and its single goal is to become the single largest party in India by crossing 200 on their own.
Looks like BJP had learnt from its mistakes in 2004.
