Tamilians are not fool as thought by Karuna.
Small issue like Sethu has been highlighted by Karuna beyond proportions as he dont have any good points to defend. Cong never build Sethu as huge north indians (hindu) votes are at stake. Karuna dont fool Tamil people

We had already become fools when we selected an actress as our chief minister twice in 1991 & 2001. If you wanna vote to Jaya again you are continuing to be a fool. I think you dislike karunanidhi why because you are a brahmin. Can you tell me what wrong deeds karunanidhi did for brahmins and what kinds of facilities had been announced by jaya to brahmins in past. I'm also a brahmin and being proud as brahmin. But I do not blame karunanidhi. why because he did so many good things to Tamil Nadu than any other chief minister. Before writing some thing please think twice and write. Karuna is the only reason behind the improvement of Tamil Nadu by improving its infrastructure. Can you say that jaya did take to improve the welfare of the people of tamil nadu? She is proving that she is a very good actress in politics also.

Identity Politics

By getting into this argument about Hindi vs Tamil, Brahmins vs non- Brahmins, we're falling neatly into the trap the political class have lais for us- follow emotive, volatile, divisive identity politics rather than rational, integrative, issue- based development politics.

sadness chases tamils?
by lutiya doobi on Apr 19, 2009 11:43 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

why is it that wherever Tamils go, they are never happy?
Why is that sadness is Tamil people's constant companion?
Whether it is eelam or in India, they are always disturbed, can start rioting any moment. When MGR died, why did Tamils start rioting? Was it Hindi speakers fault that MGR died? Moreover they hate Hindi and Hindi speakers like anything. Go to Tamilnadu and look at anything written in Hindi. You will be lucky if you find one. Even at Railway stations, the names of those stations written in Hindi have been blackened while English and Tamil names are unharmed. I think Tamils are dark-skinned Englishmen. When Tamils hate Hindi so much, why should I consider Tamils to be my fellow citizens. Because India = Hindia. If you don't like, kindly leave and form your own country in your own state.

It is a miracle that India is holding up as a single entity despite several political machinations that created Bindranwales, educated naxalites, separate demands from Kashmir & Tamilnadu, extremist elements from North East and muslim community. I agree with you that Tamils have been having problems in many countries (occupied by Tamil Chola Kings several centuries back / resettled by British) in Srilanka, Malaysia and Singapore to some extent. The reason can be that they are conservative in nature and are visible as a distincy group. But, they donot mean any harm to anyone unless attacked / provoked. It is a big lie that Hindi speaking were killed when MGR died. In fact, on the contrary, sikhs were protected in Madras/Chennai when Indira Gandhi was assasinated while thousands of them were killed elsewhere in India. If you understand the speciality of mother tongue (for any civilisation) spoken for thousands of years (btw, tamil language is considered by historians as more ancient than most other langauges in the world and it existed in Lemuria / Gondwana land), you will appreciate that nother language can replace it including Hindi. Just to set the facts right, India as a motely collection of provinces was achieved by iron man Patel during independence. Hindi is a cross between Sanskrit and Urdu happened in the recent past and you cannot force it down the throat of Tamils who have been speaking the language for thousands of years. Pls donot stereotype any community.

Be more rational and realistic in what you are writing.A child in non Hindi speaking states has to learn three languages-English his mother tongue Hindi whereas a child in Hindi speaking belt has to learn only one language-Hindi.Why disparity in a nation. With all respects to Hindi speaking population,I ask one question-have they ever tried to learn any other language. They want everything in Hindi because by that, they will be in an advantageous position. When I came to UP and Bihar I never knew a bit of Hindi, but today after 47 years,I can given public speeches in chaste Hindi which even the Hindians cannot.Nobody can recognize me as a Tamilian when I talk in Hindi.Contrary to this see a Hindi speaking person staying in Bangalore or Chennai for the past 10 years. He cant understand or speak the local languages, but carries on his work with his broken English. My dear friend, dont be so parochial.Come out of your nest and see what is happening in the world outside.Parameswaran

For setting highest standars of living, learning and community development, brahmins need a seperate indian state where it is 99% brahmins.

Within ten years , i can prove that the state will become a model state for the world , where knowledge, hardwork and intelligence will be occupying prime place. The world will know , an intelligent hardworking species , far superior to Israeli JEWS , exists in this world.

Well said Sivan.Demands are made always by lethargic people, who do not want to work, but expect everything from the State.Brahmins never made any demands and took everything in their own stride and that is why they are occupying the highest positions world over.Intellectual class in TN have come only from TN eg.Dr.Radhakrishnan,Dr.CV Raman,Dr.Subramaniam Chandrasekhar,RK Narayan,RK Laxman, mathematician Ramanujan,Rt.Hon.Srinivasa Iyenger,Rajaji, saint Thyagaraja,MS Subbalakshmi,Vishwanathan Anand,Dr.Rangarajan and the list is unending. Why even Dr Abdul Kalam is on record saying that his growth was largely due to his being brought up in Agraharam surroundings of Rameswaram by which though Muslim he developed Brahmin culture. While others were fighting in the streets, creating hooliganism, anarchy, begging for obligations through reservations,Brahmins concentrated on education and achieved the targets they set for themselves. We are the only community which dies not have any grievance against anybody. That is why despite being relegated to virtual outcastes in TN,they still are far ahead of others. If government service is not available,we looked for alternatives like private sector jobs, jobs abroad, business etc. but never go abegging for favours through reservations. We have always grown through our own merits.Even the so called deprived classes of TN when coming to religious or marriage functions in their homes, call a Brahmin priest. Now even priests have become in the process.

I never said that they are superior.I only say that attitudinal change by the so called lower castes is required if they have to develop.Merely doing street fighting and indulging in stone throwing, bus burning, creating anarchy etc.will lead them to nowhere.First thing they should do is to shed their inferiority complex, stop asking for reservations and try to come up by their own merits,as was done by the Blacks in US.Secondly,if you go back to history,Brahmins learned only the Vedas in those days, including the 50 year period that you are mentioning, but with the change in the world scenario they also changed their routes. Why cant others follow these steps. For your information,I am 66 years old and have seen the third generation Brahmins growing. In my own case I started my career as a steno in a Tata group company with a qualification of just matriculation, but grew to the level of DGM in 31 years.People who joined the company with me retired as clerks and stenos. This was because I accepted every opportunity that came my way and grew in the company. So at the end of the day,it is the attitude of the person that will make or break him.You cant change the world, but you can change yourselve.Parameswaran

U r right Arvind.Brahmins' main job was to inculcate vedas to others. But there r two parties to this, the teacher & the taught.Unfortunately, the supposed to be taught never came forward to learn the vedas and the teachers also failed in their duty.Generations gone by,Brahmins looked down upon other communities as untouchables and I admit that this was the fallacy of the Brahmins. But what is the use of attacking the present generation Brahmins for the mistakes of ther forefathers. If we do so,we should also accept Babri Masjid demolition because that was done by fanatics for what the Muslims of the gone by era did to the Hindus. Why do we have double standards.Yes that is what Indian politics is.There was a time when Brahmins ill treated other communities - this is a fact, let us accept it.But what is happening today. So called leaders of Dalits, tribals, adivasis etc. are treating their own community people like stree dogs.Intra community fighting is the most common scene in the Hindi speaking belt.Criminals and hooligans have taken over the reins in this country. All of us,especially younger generation people like you, should come forward to bring in change.Yes we can. The problem is poor understanding of the reality. Even in a separate state you will need people of different skills and quality to do all types of jobs. Israel is an isolated place and they are facing lots of problems from the other side of the world. The very attitude of keeping away from the general mass is wrong. It is very true that a section of people are oppressed. It would be prudent to understand entire history and sociology of a few generations and come to a conclusion of what is right and wrong.

If you are referring to the caste, sorry to say you are absolutely wrong. Everybody craves for power and make the state into many pieces. 10 years are too long. In one year time, the state will go for dogs. Brahmins are generally known for clerical work. Kshatriyas should govern, Brahmins should implement it. If you are referring to Brahmans yes you may be right the state can become a model state in the whole world.

You are absolutely right. Why dont you tell this to Mayavati who has been time and again attacking Manu for caste creations.Manu in his work has only said that a man should be known by his profession. If a dalit can follow the rules meant for Brahmins,he can also become a Brahmin. But the problem is that everyone wants to become a Brahmin without working for it.Marxists tried to do this in Kerala by appointing socalled low casts as temple priests.Net result was that people stopped going to temples where Pujas were conducted by these people and the system had to be withdrawn.I agree that today's Brahmin is one by his sacred thread only, not by his deeds. All said and done, can you deny that the intellectuals always came from Brahmin community. That is because Brahmins changed their tact with change of time as proclaimed by Krishna in Gita - change is the rule of nature and people who dont accept change will remain backward always. Read what I have written in one the messages above about Brahmins and then draw your conclusions.Parameswaran

People have forgotten ideologies have been created a group which became a race, creed, class and caste inclduing religion. The differences among people is going to exist for ever because of the simple reason that everyone wants to be unique. There has to be more understanding of Sociology and evolution of every community. There is a great analysis on Hindus and even Brahmins by American Sociologists. There has to be a broader understanding and it is sad our Caste Hindus are willing to accept and follow any other white skin but not our own people

Let us all agree on one thing. There cant be uniformity among people. As the English saying goes "birds of the same feather flock together".Equality is not possible and even communists failed in their attempts to create egalitarian societies.Humans by nature are selfish. We are all trying to grab each other's wealth, but as Gita says -"we have brought nothing with us and are not going to take back anything with us when we die.Whatever we have, was there and will be there. What is today ours, was somebody else's yesterday and will be somebody else's tomorrow. So why are we fighting for something which is not ours".If we understand the meaning of this and practice it truthfully, there will be no problems.Parameswaran

You are talking as if rest of India is peaceful.Comparatively TN is very peaceful. For the Hindi speaking belt,to catch up with TN will take 1000 years.Dont talk nonsense dear friend. If you have the guts, identify yourself instead of getting camouflaged. You are an anti national and are more interested in breaking the nation and to me it looks like that you areMuslim. brother, pls dont get to conclusion but just seeing political talk.. Remember, many Indian Honour are brought by every other community in India.. to bring it your kind notice, Population in srilanka in 1947, singali - 65 lakh & tamil - 35 lakh... in 2008, singali - 1.75 crore & tamil still - 35 lakh.. Pls understand, as a human we should never let any race to kill the other.. Its afterall a humanity & not just tamil feeling.. talk with sense in public forum.. Ofcourse, dont forget, being 3rd highest tax payers, 2nd highest FDI deposits, 2nd largest IT destination, 2nd largest auto & auto ancillary, 7% of total indian population, high network across globe where 7 countries tamil is a national language, we could very well run our own government.. But, Indian spirit every citizen (excluding politician, to be honest we do not have not even one good human in TN politics) make them binding with rest of all sisters & brothers in India.. We believe in "Vazhga Tamizh" & "Jai Hind".. Remember, JAIHO is made few yards from my home in chennai..
