Third front an unwanted front
by sg sg on Apr 24, 2009 10:41 AM

We should shun such parties which hold the country to ransom. They have no objective but to make money and be sold like cattle to the highest bidder, during a hung parliament. These guys are nothing but hurdles in growth and their outlook is only regional and not national. Thanks to Nehru and the socialiest parties topped by VP Singh they have given birth to so called caste based parties which are a sham and have done nothing to uplift the lives of their so called caste.

homogenity and diversity
by Manjula A on Apr 23, 2009 12:25 PM

Diversity is Indian speciality. Uniformity is Aryan. Dalits are indians and therefore diverse. Brahmins are Aryan and homogeneous.

what are their policies
by donkeybreadth on Apr 22, 2009 11:56 AM

Does anyone know what the policies of the 3rd front are. Do supporters of the 3rd front know what a policy is. Do the illiterates in the 3rd front know how to spell policy. They do realize that Policy has nothing do with law and order or cops

not yet cemented
by Ramesh on Apr 21, 2009 04:34 AM  | Hide replies

The need for a Third Front has come about because unlike ABV, LKA's secular credentials are not yet cemented. A decision to induct the contender at Pilbhit tomorrow is likely to reinforce this perception.

Conformance to EC's advice would have a mellowing effect and is likely to weaken the motivation for Third Front.

It would also send a strong signal to win the hearts and minds of discerning young intellectuals; not invite their contempt but build a lasting legacy for LKA and even transfer the shine to the party as ABV had done.

Let us hope that Third Front will not be a necessity and the Communists shall be marginalized.

If BJP disregards EC's advice it would imply that elements in BJP who have Hindutva Nation designs have gained a clear ascendency.

Thwarting their designs becomes a far greater priority since they would be an imminent threat to nation's secular polity and societal stability. A Third Front becomes a necessity.

Does the Third Front have a future?
by Hebbar R on Apr 20, 2009 08:06 PM

For the sake of India, one should hope that the 3rd (or the new 4th) front do not come to power and neither should they have a say in the formation of the next Govt.

Regarding the PM, it is morally and ethically wrong that he is elected to the RS from Assam. He was dishonest in declaring himself as an Resident of Assam when the whole country knew that he was not. Can the PM himself is so dishonest? What is the Moral standing he has to point fingers at others then?

If not third front many independents will be MPs.
by Rajendra Nayak on Apr 20, 2009 07:49 PM

There is a clear indication that this election has no issue to be fought on, so why we had an election if the same policies will be followed. Why thousands of crores are spent? There could have been a referendum like many countries do.
Regarding third front, they will be the deciding factors whether we like it or not. So by 2014 we will break into some regions due to the inability of national parties (Congress /BJP) to keep every regional parties in control. Every regional party will claim its pound of flesh or else excite its people to start riots and road blocks. The national parties will keep quiet and in this way the nation will start deteriorating.
Before the things go from bad to worst, it is better to have a referendum and change the system of ruling with just 30% of 50% of popular votes polled. Minimum percentage is to be fixed at 50%.
The neighboring countries are in deep trouble (like Pakistan may break into 4 to 5 nations, Nepal is in trouble, Bangladesh is in trouble, Burma is in trouble, Srilanka is in trouble) and this should not start some problems within India where regional parties take over particular regions with the help of outsiders and the national parties keeping quiet to remain in power at New Delhi.
Like Naxals have their own local governance. Some of the businessmen who bring Tendu leaves for wrapping beedies say that from 1970's they cannot take out Tendu leaves without paying Naxalites. They say these are no at all new things of Naxal Diktat.

No Issues in this election??
by mailme alladin on Apr 20, 2009 07:44 PM

It's surprising to see media is publicising there is no issue in this election. There are so many big issues, but media is not at all worried about it. Here is a list of issues, just one of which is good enough for current incumbent to lose the election.
1. Unprecedented price hike of essential commodities
2. Unprecedented oil price hike
3. Recession and crores of job loss
4. Farmers suicide
5. Satyam scam
6. Share market crash.
7. Nuclear deal - only time will say whether it's really benefical or not, but at least one thinh is sure - India lost its Sovereign policy.
8. Terror attack
On most of the issues govt is escaping simply saying it's a global issue, which is partially right. But my question is what govt is doing to overcome these issues and govt must take the blame of adopting wrong policy (the way the take the credit of GDP growth) that is forcing our economy helplessly crashing with US economy.
Ideological cement
==================
The author says there is no ideological cement among the 3rd front memebrs. My question is what is the ideological cement among UPA or NDA memebrs.
UPA members ideological cement - corruption
NDA members ideological cement - hindutava
Then it is better not to have any ideological cement.

Third front future Upto May 16,2009
by suku maran on Apr 20, 2009 06:24 PM

Third front future is Upto May 16,2009 only. After that there will be no third front. CPM leaders will go to 10Janpath and lick the shoes of Soniyaji as before. Lallu/Mulayam/Paswan/Pawar are already good and experience lickers. Naidu/Navin/Jayalalitha may jump here and there.
