Sikhs in Pakistan pay Rs.20 mn to Taliban Thu, Apr 16 01:04 PM
Islamabad, April 16 (IANS) Pakistan's Sikh community has been forced to pay Rs.20 million as 'jizia' (tax) to the Taliban so as to return to their homes and resume business, a newspaper said Thursday.
The minority Sikh community Wednesday met the Taliban demand in return for 'protection' in Orakzai Agency in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas, the Daily Times reported.
The Taliban then released Sikh leader Sardar Saiwang Singh and vacated the community's houses. The militia announced that the Sikhs were now free to live anywhere in the area.
'They also announced protection for the Sikh community, saying no one would harm them after they paid jizia. Sikhs who had left the agency would now return to their houses and resume business,' an official said.

Mayawati has, in one stroke of unprecedented intelligence, brought about the beginning of the end of her so-called political innings. She hoped to get the best of 20% UP votes-pie, not realising she stands to lose so much by her 'brilliant' move. The 20% votebank has no reason whatsoever to suddenly start trusting her and her nazism-like-secularism. It also goes to prove that BSP with all its ranting and raving of becoming a National Player is altogether a hollow claim, as her Varun act clearly proves that she is trying to squeeze whatever little she can from any community. Unlike the Congress which still has a considerable faithful following among the majority classes, Mayawati has almost negligible appeal outside a disgruntled-underdeveloped UP. Her handling of the Varun Gandhi row is going to push her back into still more political alienation (she's lost a chance to haggle with BJP in case the latter garners majority vote) and general public disdain; The only people happy out of her draconian act/abuse of power is the inconsequential 'secular' class of india, that inhabits (in minuscule number) cities and town and would rarely want to stand in long 'smelly queues' to cast their 'one measly' vote.

At least now all hindus of UP should get united and show the strength of the Hindus. She is taking hindus vote as granted and arrested Varun under NSA to garner the minority votes. Minorities are also inteligent they know that what she has done for the developement of minorities in UP. Her wealth increased 100 times where as the condition of UP is deteriorating.

A much touted and abused word is "secular". It is the Mantra of Congress, Left parties, SP and Mayawati. To clear my mind, I went online to Webster, that monolith of words and dictionary. This is what it says:
