Abey Dhakkan.....Mahatma Gandhi wanted to disband the Congress in 1947, Nehru continued against his wishes.
If you cant read properly, that is your problem, whom are you with Mahatma Gandhi or the Congress?

@secularism
Mahatma gandhi of course friend ... but the problem is Mahatma also talked about a lot of other things which we conveniently choose to brush under the carpet . Mahatma talked of religous harmony , mahatma talked of treating people as equals , mahatma also talked of developing villages ... where are we on these ? The party you are supporting had a hand in killing Mahatma and hence people like you should refrain from using his name for your political browny points .( not trying to justify congress ) .

Let me counter you on the points as pointed out by you.

Religious Harmony: Religious confrontations owe its causes to govt apathy. Govt created vote bank and minority politics. Illegal influx of bangladeshis. Minorities (Hindus) crushed in Kashmir. Minorities non-existent in many parts of North east. The issue of conversion is gaining credence now... why?? 62 years since freedom, the govt cannot provide health and education... and the missionaries are using this to harvest souls. You dont expect all people to keep quiet all the time.

For most part of our history congress has ruled... so where does the fundamental issue lie????

Treating people as equals: Why have'nt equality measures been enforced in 62 years?? Did BJP divide people on caste lines. Today we have our census reporting demographics as Hindus ~75%. This is to show Hindus as one block and indulge in minorityism, but the fact is for all other purposes, Dalits are carved out of this 75% populace and kept as 25% dalits. What is the outcome of this? Are we creating another religious group outside of Hindus called as Dalits?? If we continue further division on caste lines, where the hell is equality going to come from?? Today we also see the emergence of Dalit Christians and Dalit Muslims, where the hell do these come from?

may be ok... but that's been harped upon by a whole galaxy of leader across the world and not only by Mahatma Gandhi as such,...and i donot think there is any polarisation of freedom movement with gandhi ..... what he talked about has been trampled rather by his own partymen to say

Shashi Sharma....
Sit down before you get hurt.
Understand my comment first and why it was posted.
Do not mix things, Congress had no challenge, yes...I know the first challenge posted to them was EMS Namboodaripad's CPI government in the 50's, Nehru dismissed it in 1959, why?
Never forget that it is CONGRESS WHICH HAS DIVIDED THE COUNTRY ON RELIGIOUS,LINGUISTIC, CASTE grounds.
Did Gandhi propose this?
Read Dr. Ambedkar's idea on reservations for the backward classes and the conditions he put for such benefits, then analyse how Congress has misused it.
Mate...a bit more of reading will help you a lot.
The Religious problems are thanks to the Congress and not the BJP, if you suppress a section of the society for 40 years, they will rise one day and this is exactly what has happened.
LEARN THE MEANING OF EQUALITY FOR ALL AND THEN TALK.

UPA or congress is not responsibel for food prices. They had clearly promised during last elections that if they come to power, old days will return. Who does not know how were old days of congress govts. Still people voted them to power. This means that they wanted the same dearness, corruption and other problems which are trademark of congress.
Actually we should thank congress for fulfilling their poll promise.

Himadri....I take it you vote for the Commies for the past 35 years and you want to sit in your arm chair and comment?
Tell me what good your vote has done for the country?
Dr. S P Mookherjee one of the finest leaders in this country used to win from South Calcutta seat, why is his name not revered in today's Bengal?
If you remove those shades over your eyes, the picture will be clear to you.

mr ganguly has expressed his views like a 9th student,it is extremely lucid that the higher strata of society ,precisely the upper class ,middle class dont know the worries and financial constraints which the common man suffer ,they do live like hindi cinema plot ,its lucid in the way the move ,talk, act we do breed children to the stage of modern yuppies ,unconcerned about nothing ,india do suffer in the comming era as we saw in the western countries ,its not going to have an indian style of life ,despite the so called saviours of cultural, moral, ethical superintendts endeavour,THE LEADERS WHETHER THEY BELONG TO BJP, CONGRESS OR THE LEFT LIVE A 5TAR STYLE,THEY FEIGHN TO BE THE DOWN TO EARTH PEOPLE,BUT THERE IS ONETHING VIVID COMMUNAL POLARISATION IS OCCURING IN A FAST PACE RATHER THAN IN THE PAST,UPA HAS BEEN KEEN IN SAVING THE NATION FROM A MAJOR PLUNGE OF FINANCIAL STRAITENING UNLIKE THAT OF THE WESTERN COUNTRIES,YTHE LIFE STYLES OF THE HI-FI HAS TO BE CHANGED IT HAS TO ,OR RECESSION WILL FORCE THEM TO DO IT,COMMON MAN WONT CRY

First phase doesnt seem to be supporting your contention where the poll percentage was poor except for north east .
