VENKAT M
duty of election commision
by VENKAT M on Apr 15, 2009 02:52 PM

It is shame on our part to see the election officers and EVMs travelling as shown in the picture. Chief election commisionar and Supreme court and President of India should take a note of it and take necessary steps.

It portrays the fact
by Universal King on Apr 15, 2009 02:37 PM

thanks to rediff for its 1st (responsible)article which actually reveals the real ground situation. Hope so will get more of this type in future also

yes this is the situation when the teachers and other involved on election duty reach these polling station 24 hours before. Even they go to places where the villagers do not provide them even food/water to them.
The security of EVMs is on them and if there is a booth capturing and other incident take place then they have to answer about it.
On sensitive booths they play with their lifes.

Hats of to them who do election duty in far and remote areas.

Ciosts of popular democracies
by D goel on Apr 15, 2009 02:20 PM

D. Goel , Pkl., afternoon, 2.20pm, Wednesday, 15th April,2009.
No doubt EC has to have election work done , logistics of moving Booths troops ,staff and EVMS and security all call for several weeks work before and after polling..till the results are declared. These are human and financial costs of Largest exercise of poplist democracy of India. Invariably for paltry sums large number of officials are put to lots of inconveniencefor small compensation. Most employees particularly school teachers do resent these excursions!.But in the short run there seems to be no alternative. With PANCHAYTS VIDHAN SABHA , lOK SABHA elections following all the time the work of schools gets disturbed, very continuously, it is bad for the future of Kids.
Our computer Age should simplify ballot, to a simple national grid on a designated day,and results be out electronically as it happens in West.only then we can claim that Cyber -Age has arrived in our sub-continent.D.Goel

Why not depute from revenue depts?
by Kadam on Apr 15, 2009 02:18 PM  | Hide replies

The corrupt and enjoying Govt servants from Revenue Depts continue to enjoy and the hard working and miserable School Teachers and Bank Staff continue to suffer.
In fcat the election commission should take the services of the most corrupt revenue departments for election duty. ASt least once in a while let them suffer.

Ever Thought ?
by Dr India on Apr 15, 2009 02:15 PM  | Hide replies

Did you ever thought, why you need to travel such a long, far flung and uncivilized places?

What you have done to improve these places?

Think about people who are living there, no roads, no waters, no roof, no general living goods?

Think about those students who doentn't even have a proper place to sit and study, and you people only charge heavy fine to private schools for providing waters through Refrigerated Coolers instead of Matka.

Why all these thinkgs happening?

Why it can't be prevented?

Why do you all charge Bakshish or bribery for doing your job from pooor people?

Is getting a govt job meant for doing these corrupt activities only, only bcoz our Government is bit laxed with you people?

These are all the ultimate curse of the people over you, whom you have traeted worse than dogs..

Suffer Now, actually, you were all supposed to be treated far worse than this..

Dont forget that you private sector is also depending on govt. If they will not do their work properly the entire system will collapse. They are sacrificing more than what they are getting in reply to that. You private sector ppl are getting lots of money and good work place so doing some work inbetween while chating and ofcourse writing some rediff msgss.
Have you ever thought about your country or country people.
