by New York on Apr 14, 2009 09:39 PM

* Total voters = 700 million
* Votes needed to win = 350 million
Since as per BBC, 80% Indians live on 20 rupees a day, you can BUY or BRIBE a vote for $2.

by Vikas Vadgama on Apr 14, 2009 03:45 PM  | Hide replies

UPA dakaared Rs.72,000 crores in the name of farmer loan waivers. But fact is farmers all over India, in all states, still continue to committ suicides. No help has reached them. All Rs.72,000 crores eaten away by Congress in Swiss bank & some portion for election propoganda. Let us throw away this corrupt party in upcoming elections.

Congress dont care for common man lives
by Vikas Vadgama on Apr 14, 2009 03:39 PM  | Hide replies

All m#d#rch#d media flashing on TV screens during 26/11: "PM said no compromise with terrorist." "Sonia says we will deal strict with them" and other such idiotic statements. I ask SG & MMS, if a high profile Congress politician or Rahul Gandhi or any one related to SG, Rahul or Priyanka would have been trapped in Taj or Oberoi, would have the Congress & the PM taken same stand & same actions. They dealt strict with terrorist becuase none of their known was there in the hotels. In fact, we should appreciate Mr. Vajpayee & Mr. Advani that they gave a thought & importance to normal civilians lives.

Change the reservation policy in its present form....
by Rajesh Shetty on Apr 14, 2009 12:48 PM  | Hide replies

I know that a large majority of net users oppose reservation policy in all forms. Though I come from the unreserved category, I have different views on the controversial subject of reservation. For a change, I would like to do away or at least reduce reservation in the govt. sector so that more talented people come there and be a part of the decision making process in the country. Then surely we will see better systems emerging which will plug some of the earlier loopholes.
However, I believe that reservations are still necessary in order to uplift the poorer and oppressed classe especially in rural India. So I think if at all reservatoin policy is to be implemented, it should be in the private sector. It should be made mandatory for the pvt. sector to hire some percentage of the workforce, on the basis of economic and not the caste criteria. Reservation implemented in the pvt. sector will surely prepare those needy people to rub shoulders with their more fortunate counterparts. They say 'Give a man a fish, it will feed him for a day. Teach him how to fish, it will feed him for a lifetime'. So reservation in govt. sectors have only made those people lazy, corrupt and a liablity to the nation as a whole. However reservation in pvt. sector, which does not come with any job guarantee, will surely give such people a chance to come up in life on their own, and benefit the nation too in terms of equitable distribution of wealth. Would like to know what readers here feel on this..

Yes if you just want reservation for upliftment of poor, and this is the only cause, then put reservation on 4th grade Jobs, why in IAS, why in IPS, why reservation in Promotion ?

Looks like u havent read my post properly. When did IAS and IPS fall in the pvt. sector category ? And talking of 4th grade jobs, it just reflects a typical mindset. People with mindsets like u form the single most important cause in favour of reservation. Looks like u only want them to clean toilets and sweep roads. It is this attitude towards the oppressed which makes them more alienated from the mainstream, and cry loud for reservation.

Politicians in Bengal are less corrupt
by Superman on Apr 14, 2009 12:34 PM  | Hide replies

They are simply useless....but not corrupt....There are a very few crorepati politicians in bengal....be it Congress or Lefts......
The reason behind this is, being rich in Bengal means no social recognition unless you are culturally sound and well knowledgable, especially about Rabindranath Tagore....
This is quite unlikely in many other states, where society thinks only the rich people are the most important people....
So rest of India should follow Bengal's example and do not recognise a rich man in the society unless he/she is well cultured and vastly learned....
