Wrong side PM
by Bodh Ramdeo on Apr 11, 2009 09:32 PM

Hypocrite! When these same filthy Commie scumbags were the crutch supporting his useless govt, they weren't on the wrong side of the law- they were his best allies- on the right side.
Yep, only now that they're no longer on his side, they're on the wrong sid- the real Left. And all the time, up to their parting of ways, during his pay for votes (Rs25 crore/head) scam, this same PM was best friends of the venal Commie scummies, defending them no end. But no longer- now, he's free to demonize his 'ex'-best friends, as he now has 'new' best-friends in Mulayam, Karuna, Gowda et al. Isn't politics great- creates instant 'best-friends' like magic.

Maybe 60% of Bengal live in slums, still infant mortality there (38 out of 1000) is much lower than in Gujarat (53 out of 1000) under your (presumably) favourite Mr Modi

Sheer bunkum
by Ester Astir on Apr 11, 2009 09:20 PM

Congress Party's criticism of Left is sheer bunkum, for after the elections they are anyway going to gang up in yet another unholy alliance. And their parting of the ways earlier also is a cheap tactic. Both are unreliable.

CAG Says Indo-US Nuclear deal was not required
by JGN on Apr 11, 2009 09:10 PM  | Hide replies

NEW DELHI, February 21, 2009 — In what could be a major embarrassment to ruling UPA who has gone out of the way to sign the nuclear deal with USA despite a strong opposition in the country, an independent official survey on the country’s estimated uranium reserves has revealed that the nuclear fuel stocks are enough to meet India’s fuel supply for the next 40 years.

According to an audit on the management of fuel for Pressurized Heavy Water Reactors (PHWRs) which was conducted by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) to evaluate the cause and consequences of fuel crisis — has revealed that India has enough uranium reserves which were left unexplored and untapped due to laxity by the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE).

The report says that as of September 2007, the estimated uranium reserves were about 1,07,268 tonnes while the fuel requirement of the 10,000 MWe PHWR programme, as planned by DAE till 2020, required around 1,01,600 tonnes for the entire lifespan of 40 years of these plants.

The DAE did little to mine the uranium, depriving millions of cheap electricity. Worse, the Uranium Corporation of India Ltd did not use a lot of the Uranium it had mined.

A report that appeared in national daily Hindustan Times in June last year on the country’s Great Uranium Sham called India knocking

Re: CAG Says Indo-US Nuclear deal was not required
by JGN on Apr 11, 2009 09:10 PM
at the door of US to sign the nuke deal “a bitter truth hidden from the nation”.

According to the paper, DAE chief Anil Kakodkar’s office did not respond to its queries on the issue, sent through fax and e-mail.

The CAG report also raps the DAE that the capacity factors of nuclear plants were consistently brought down to 50% during 2003-08 that resulted in an estimated loss of about Rs 6,000 crore.

The DAE misled the Cabinet by getting new reactors approved when it knew that there was no fuel to run them, says CAG.

“Cabinet clearance for Kaiga-3 & 4 and Rajasthan Atomic Power Station (RAPS)-5 & 6 was taken despite the knowledge that these reactors would suffer for want of fuel,” says the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report tabled in Parliament on Friday.

Sources revealed that the DAE top brass tried hard not to make the report public. But after prolonged discussions, the CAG, Vinod Rai, agreed to publish the report with a rebuttal from the atomic energy department.

Is MMS really strong leader??
by J S on Apr 11, 2009 09:07 PM  | Hide replies

I agree to the fact that MMS is the most educated PM. But, obviously he is not a good leader. A good leader can make a difference even with ordinary people. Clear example is MS Dhoni! We all know how he has changed the fate of Indian cricket. The same thing Tendulkar could not do even though he is one of the best bestmans in the world. India needs a leader who can lead from the front. Not a weak PM who always has to wait for the green signals from others!! It is a shameful act for the digninity of our country. Definitely MMS will be a good professor on economics.

If UPA continues in power, MMS will be remembered in Indian history just like Pandit Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi. In year 2060 another PM from Congress will need another 10 years to get rid of poverty!

I told you he is a good economics, so he will be remembered for the liberalization. Credit should be given to PVN Rao also! But, he has not touched any of the burning issues in his last five years of office. It means Indians will suffer for another few decades. He cares forhis name, not for the benefit of the society. Appeasement and reservation policies will lead this nation into a dangerous position in future. Since, he is not a leader, he could not sense it.
