Recently several MPs and Ministers, including the Home Secretary of the British Parliament has been in the news for wrongfully claiming expenses on their 2nd Houses while they wer officiating as MPs.
They are being named and shamed in the Media. And even there is talk of a new set of rule to take care of this anomaly. Gordon Brown, the PM, is also not above board on this. So now the thinking is to introduce an Overnight stay allowance instead of a monthly Rent for stay in London.
That is the difference between the British system which we claim to follow and the Indian system. Once some wrong doing has been brought out by public and Media the loophole is tried to be rectified.
The first root cause of bribe is this kind of circulars. An MP has to be given the status he holds. In Companies 5star hotel comfort is given even to middle management. Let us not degrade our representatives.

I was a manager in a public sector. At that time i am entitled for 5 star comfort. That is also public money. Public sector employee is entitled and MP not entitled is not right.

Yes I agree ... but which segment are they representing? U r forgetting that a vast majority in this country does not have access to even basic necessities like clean drinking water, a country where farmers are forced to commit suicide! Its not degrading them .... lets put the money to better use!

there is a difference. the cost of the managerial stay is born by private company and the cost of ministerial stay is born by public money. leader is one who leads, not one who enjoys. it is written "arrangements for the committee shall be dignified but not ostentatious"..circuit houses are such dignified places. go to a circuit house and the sound of beakons will attract u more than any luxury in a 5 star hotel. a place is honoured by the members it accomodates not the other way round...

Certainly an MP needs to be treated and looked after well, but asking for silk sarees for their wives and demanding other gifts; well, there has to be a distinction between treating well and demanding to be treated like Royalty!
The less said about our MP's the better. When the security forces were fighting the terrorists our MP's were enjoying at the 5* hotel at the Tax Payers Money. And they are so shameless that they ducked themselves under the table to escape the bullets. Now it become clear why the Govt. is not hanging Afzal Guru. Because non of the MP's were hurt due to the security people sacrificed there life to save them. If one MP in that attack would have been killed they would have hanged Afzal by now. Now this called party of AAM AADMI. And now it becomes clear why people are throwing shoes at them. When these politicians come asking for your vote please honour with Garlands of shoes instead of Garlands of flowers. Talking of AAM AADMI but when it comes to serve the public they enjoy 5* facilities for themselves and their family. After getting elected they treat AAM AADMI as Faltu Aadmi.

what will happen? Even if the highest court orders to hang them the Govt. will not do that but will kepp him in jail spending lacs of Rupees like Guru.

In darkness, with dresses also removed, identity is lost, everyday.
I was a senior executive in IDBI Chennai and was assigned special duty to be a member of reception committee to receive MPs (on Committee of Parliamentary Undertaking-COPU) during late 80s Late Shri SS Nadkarni was our Chairman All these honourable MPs were accomodated in Adyar Gate Hotel (a 5 star hotel) Many MPs demanded costly silk sarees for their accompanying spouces from NALLI Silk Besides most MPs were presented with other costly gifts including expensive TANJORE Copper plates Each MP was given an exclusive air conditioned car for all those days when the MPs were Chennai as a member of COPU
