You can RULE India for $700 million.
by New York on Apr 20, 2009 08:36 PM  | Hide replies

* Total voters = 700 million
* Votes needed to win = 350 million

Since as per BBC, 80% Indians live on 20 rupees a day, you can BUY or BRIBE a vote for $2.

Corruption is the roort cause of many evil including poverty
by Mr Walker on Apr 13, 2009 11:41 AM  | Hide replies

Corruption has been the root cause of many evil including poverty.

If there was no corruption India would have had far less poor people today or possibly no one would have been poor.

Similarly excessive taxes are an open invitation for hiding income and generating black money govt. should not need more than 10% of total individual income as tax.

Stop corruption and India would be on path to progress, bring back the black money and we would be one of the wealthiest nations.

What sense does it make if you travel in a swanky A/c BMW while the streets are riddled with potholes and hungry poor beggars seen on every corner ??

Every person who has taken bribes , manipulated public machinery for personal gains is a criminal for all the millions of poor and hungry people in this country.

India 4th most corrupt nation
by BR on Apr 13, 2009 11:38 AM  | Hide replies

In Asia. It is shameful to the core. And that too a country which has a rich and ancient culture, teaches grass-roots, yoga, etc. etc.

We have a crop of politicians and IAS and top mgmt officials, all of whom ( or at least 80%) are money grabbers.

Just look at the fate of HAL, several of its manufacturing units seeing the dark ages, because many GMs, MDs, Vice Air Marshals made money out of manufacturing Mig-21s and selling them.

We do not have shame in our society. We only find helpless poor people committing suicide. The rich and powerful step out every day with a smile on his face, even though he knows that the whole world knows that he is a looter and a cheater. Why don't we adopt the japanese culture of harakiri over shame?

You are right we as a nation and especially our leadership should be ashamed of corruption.

Also everytime these corrupt people show off their wealth abroad they should be humiliated by the locals there and shown the door.

Pravin Mahajan
by Bolo India on Apr 13, 2009 10:51 AM  | Hide replies

What pravin mahajan has said in his book is sheer truth. Pramod Mahajan was biggest manipulator of his time. He ensured that he gets most lucrative ministry, was treasurer and fund raiser for his party. reportedly had liason with a lady journo who was subsequently killed. Owned large number of shares of reliance telecom.

Ok so till Pravin was getting his "share" he kept quite only when he was denied his share that guys became angry and vengeful and killed his brother and started writing such books right ??
Such people are inherently untrustworthy. Although it is true that Pramod must have had some illicit money made, that guy paid for his crimes.
Good riddance both brothers seem useless to me.

Corruption in Politics
by Navdeep sharma on Apr 12, 2009 02:55 PM  | Hide replies

Most of the higher authorities and poiticians are corrupt and they join politics to make money. Those policians who are now millionares should be asked how they make that much of money. If they seemed to be corrupt then they should be hanged in front of public. Now is not the time to remain soft with these corrupted politicians.

Re: Corruption in Politics

Like SW, engineering or medicine politics is a profession and not social service any longer. It is an easy path to riches and has no accountability. It is the Congress party that has introduced and formalized corruption in the country. This was the rise of NTR in AP. But that also landed in a mess. The politicians who have a unenviable record of corruption are jumping from one party to another, becoming rebel candidates and polluting anything and everything in the country . The politicians have invaded everything from Rashtrapati Bhavan to the gram panchayat. Anywhere there is money to make they are present. The CBI and the police are used to produce clean chits to these filthy people and get away from the law and move around as great social workers. This needs to be halted and this can happen only if the educated come out in large numbers to vote. WE CAN, WE WILL. We need to instill in ourselves and come forward to bring the change that is so badly needed. There is a choice today and even voting for a candidate who is not likely to win is better than voting for a gutter politician with big banners. GO and vote in large numbers.

Does not Indian people have got an effective “SHOE” tool to teach the Indian insensitive politicians who do not care for their voters for five years after getting elected?
They themselves start dogfight in Parliament & State Assemblies making Indian democracy a mockery then why Indian people should not “SHOE” beat these politicians on the streets.
Really this “SHOE” beat is not creating tremendous fear among the Politicians? Is not it a great achievement?
