Its good to see non-political people are comming in to politics. Dr I cant vote you as i does not belong to your constituency. But my best wishes to you.
I am from Mangalore and it's really heartening to see people like Dr. Halemane returning to India to contest in elections. This is really a no common feat and should be lauded and supported! We need more and more such people to get inside the system and start cleaning it inside out! There will be good and educated people who have a capability to turn around the system and to bring back credibility! Kudos... :)
I think for a person of this stature, MP is probably a bad choice. Also, MPs can't do much in India. In India development is mostly state driven. He would have better chance of winning if he contests from educated constituencies like South Bangalore (for MLA) or Krishnaraja in Mysore etc .. His prospects are even more difficult because in Mangalore you should have pai, rai, shetty ... as your last name to get accepted !!!

Dr Tirumala, appreciate your decision. As Southern pride told, your chance of winning in South Bangalore as MLA is brighter than any other consitituencies because of IT/BT and number of educated citizens. I will defintely vote for you if you were in S.Bangalore. Hope I get a chance to vote highly qualified person like you.

This is actually wrong. You don't have to be a Pai or Rai to be accepted. I have grown up in Mangalore and this place accepts anyone who shows respect to people.
I hope more people like him come and do something for our country.. For how long we will be ruled by illiterates. Every job in India asks for qualifications but this political career does not.We need to cahnge this!

i hope he does not just try to copy America and instead tries to solve the local problems using an indianised approach. Copying america would ofcourse bring the illeffects of that culture as well and they are not few or negligible in their impact.
I am from Mangalore and i lived in USA. I can understand exactly what you are thinking. After you live in USA you tend to compare our country with US and that makes you think that you should do something for your country. Hats off to you sir. Mine and my families vote for you. I'll campaign for you.
