DMK manifesto hero of elections
by Nagesh on May 13, 2006 10:19 PM

It is really unfortunate that elections are still won by exploiting the sentiments of gulible poor people. Any sane person would question the credibility of such tall claims like free colour TVs etc.
For sure the money is going to come from Tax payers like us but the bigger question is who is going to be the real beneficiaries? Is it really going to be the general public who have been promised? It is anybody's guess!!

DMK pulls the wool over the eyes of TN people
by M Raj on May 13, 2006 04:36 PM

DMK has siezed the votes as easily as stealing candy from a kid. This is a win for the "bread and circuses" politics. It has clearly shown that past achievements do not matter and people always fall for election gimmicks.

While DMK has cleraly understood this and cleverly designed their strategy, Jaya miscalculated that past achievements will be noticed. Amma, has not understood the people of Tamil Nadu and how moronic they can be, while MK has a clear understanding of what works in TN.

Good Luck to the poor people of TN as they watch SunTV on MK (read "tax-payer") supplied colour TV, with their bellies full and their crania empty (as it has been for decades).

Win now and let us rule for 5 years
by N V Krishnan, Mumbai on May 13, 2006 12:02 PM

Winning and getting an opportunity for ruling for 5 years was the motto of DMK. They will give away the freebies to some and make use of the manifesto more to the benefit of each party members for 5 years. Worst come worst what will happen is that they wont be voted to power after the 5 year term, which all know,in any case, is never going to happen. So what is the harm in making promises, genuine or not?

Hard luck Nepoleon!
by Varadharajan Tamilselvan on May 13, 2006 07:48 AM

It is very sad that Mr.Nepoleon has lost to a Bafoon, Sve.Sekar. Mr.Nepoleon is young enterprising with innovative ideas to serve people. His webside 'iamformylapore' is one example for that. People of Mylapore constituency has lost a prowess on cast ground with slender margin. Really sad.

Bravo Kalaigner!
by Varadharajan Tamilselvan on May 13, 2006 07:40 AM

First I congradulate the victory of DMK and the people of Tamilnadu. I just read some doubts among the educated intellectuals mind that how the election promises of DMK will be fulfilled particlualry distribution of Colour TV, where from and from whose money. The answer is simple, the manifesto is for the people and fund will also from the people.

What a change of fate ?
by Jayram on May 13, 2006 07:02 AM

(1) Can people be fooled and tricked easily within a span of 1 month ?
(2) Can a whole state be dragged into a mockery of politics by means of fake freebies ?
(3) Can we hit 3 mangos (spreading the popularity of DMK, spreading the reach of Sun TV, using freebies as a tactic to turn the attention of people from core issues ?
All these was witnessed in the recent election in the state of Tamil Nadu. DMK was at its best in throwing out false and infeasible and useless promises which are just targetted at getting the vote of illiterate rural community. I am totally ashamed and disappointed at drama staged in the name of politics in Tamil Nadu. Inspite of the some of the blunders commited by Jayalalitha (arrest of Jayendra Swamigal, large scale dismissal of employees) we could see some bold decision and courage in the way she was running the state.

People should think
by guru on May 12, 2006 06:55 PM

It is not going to be stable government anymore.B\'se the coalition govt is not the known one in TN.And chances are higher for more scam then it used to be in previous. As all know that DMK is the one who first introduce scam in TN.
They have already been quite popular for scientific scam too. Soon the people of TN will realize that the entire announcement which they made was just for the election victory. Moreover if everything has to be done then the common fact that the taxes should be increased. This is going to be major suffer for the middle class people of the TN.
The sad part of this election was nun of them made any announcement like they will open some research institutes industries etc (healthy growth of the state).Until the educated people actively participate in election this would remain the fate of TN.
