People have a Short memory i Guess
by Arun Kumar on May 11, 2006 01:44 PM

People in this forum talking about ADMK not having done anything to get IT into TN or DMK great administration need test their memories in a good hospital. I can suggest a few if you want. The whole of Old Mahabalipuram Road has attracted upmteen number of top software houses and we all can see for ourselves the areas such as Thorapakkam and adjoining hamlets that have turned into rich localities. DMK lost their power last time and left the cofferes empty. JJ (even she may be autocratic, authoratative etc.,) because of tough measures brought in some semblance of decency to the state financial position. The greatest acheievement of all which no govt till now has not done. She solved the Water problem in chennai. Can anybody speak against that?

Tamil Nadu - Who ever Wins!!
by Collins David on May 10, 2006 04:18 PM

Dear Readers,

Another Election another C.M? instead of guessing who will win (ADMK/DMK)i want to introduce the true winner who has already won in this election.

The voting % has clearly indicated that the simplification of the voting process and the confidence that the election commision has inspired in each Voter is a clear WINNER in this election. They have brought in confidence that political parties can be tamed.

Apart from Democracy that has Won , We will also hear once the counting starts, that the SUN has risen again. Let them correct what went wrong last time and give a good Governance.

Before write anything about JJ and AIADMK, please think
by edward on May 10, 2006 08:01 AM

Before write anything about JJ and AIADMK, please think about the below
-      MK is the person supported Veerapan who killed more than 100 persons(claimed TN police cannt catch him), how can he ensure law and order in he turns to become CM again???
-      Poster everywhere by claiming that he solved Cavery issue 100% (during in last term)
- He climed Krishna water came 10 years back during the Chennai Mayar election
-       Check with any shops, During MK term they have to give money for local rowdies and political parties
-      Law and order issues,
-      Blocked the Chennai people to watch TV channels

MK is the best example for how to develop a family and not for others. JJ may not build tower buildings but she handled water issues 100% better than MK

TN

It is amazing that the people of TN want to discuss development and infrastructure only during election time or from an incumbency perspective.

It is also amazing that the same people who have greater interest in politics rather than governance or development think about this only during poll time and then go back to their primary interest for the rest of the term.

History has shown that this has repeatedly happened in TN where people have just vacillated between DMK and AIADMK only and the biggest benefactor of the same has been politics. It is also strange to read in these blogs that people feel that TN will go te Bihar way! What the heck, it is one already.

People for their own fault of partonizing politics over their own needs, may it be water or a more balanced ecology, or infrastructure seem to think that they are smarter than the politicians and just let the rot go on.

If God can save Bihar, I think TN´s turn is probably at the end of one long queue.

That is exactly the point people of TN would like these politicians to ponder. Obviously people discuss these development issues during the elections, because there is no other forum for them to express their views. For vast majority, newspapers, magazines internet etc.are not the channels of expression.Definitely, people would like have good infrastructure, education, health etc.,but, these politicians think that it is the freebies which brings vote.
If freebies only bring votes, then AIADMK Govt's past two years are hard to beat.In the name flood relief, crores of tax payers money was distributed to all with the fond hope that TN people are so gullible. But, the exit polls forecast a different story. The same lesson is applicable to DMK also if it thinks that free TV,rice, land etc is responsible for this.In its previous regime, free electricity, samathuvapurams, uzhavar santhais didn't cut ice with the public.
So,giving a clean administration, improving the infrastructure, taking care of the needs of the vulnerable sections of the society, more attention on health and education, addressing the huge unemployment problem, strengthening agriculture etc. alone will endear people of TN

Lokparitran
by Vrithi on May 09, 2006 03:06 AM  | Hide replies

Hi..
Am based in US but couldnt stop hearing enough about Lokparitran from friends back home. When they mentioned "Lokparitran" and were talking very enthusiastically about it, the first thought that came to my mind was, "My friends talking POLITICS and are excited to cast their votes???". Well, after hearing about them and googling, I now agree with my pals. Responsible, matured and "educated" leaders are what we need now. Arent we sick and tired of TN being looted and promises never being fulfilled? One party is trying to threaten everyone from Tatas to comman man to show muscle power in every industry under its umbrella and another, though educated and has the potential to transform TN into a developed state has succumbed to the "pressure" of being a "poltician". The list goes on. Amidst, all this, Lokparitran, is like a whiff of fresh air. Alas, I did not find any media coverage on them. A "star-kid" campaigner gets a mention but a whole group of people who want to make a difference and are a ton of inspiration for the youth dont deserve a place in the mighty Fourth Estate. Very Disappointing. Hope the lokparitrans win all the constituencies and DO make a difference!

It is laudable that educated youths want to participate in the politics. After DMK attracted youths during the anti Hindi agitation in the 60s, indifference and frustration seem to have set in amoung them in TN.In this context, 'LOKPARITRAN's initiation is welcome. But, the organisation's name sounds elitist and seem to be a party from Haryana!

Jayalalitha will loose.
by Ryan on May 09, 2006 02:47 AM

For all the attrocities that she commited and all the high-handedness she has shown she will loose. It is not good for democracy for her to win. It will be like, a dictator elected by the people. I know the alternate is not great! But Jayalalitha must go.

Satisfied election
by Manofchennai on May 09, 2006 01:53 AM

Thanks to Election Commission to conduct an election without Violence.
As a IT Professionalist i very worried about AIADMK goverment. In chennai nothing he done improvement in Infrastructure , except creating gardens.
More investment gone to Hyderabad.

JJ not treat him as a Mature CM. Always opposition with Central govt.

Ministers power failed in TN.Everyting depend of AMMA.Ministers are loose there Self-respect.

But I didn't understand why people of TN forget of wrong step by current Govt taken on previous time.I had met some people why they are still supporting to AMMA activity they told it has a brave work.
BRAVE work....?
In INDIA TODAY best CM SURVEY ,Current CM of TN take a place of LAST place.

Pending work of Perambur bridge ,No step taken after Central gov alloted 1000 crore for Chennai water problem, discarding the Maran initiative step,Handling Govt staff and Trasport staff as a slave.. etc... these are some points of the BEST EXAMPLE OF WORST TN Gover.
