Naxalism threatening India
by G Kalyan kumar on Apr 09, 2006 06:07 PM

Naxalite violence is ripping India apart. The red corridor that runs from Nepal to Andhra through forest belts is the haven of naxalites where the writ of the government simply does not work.

The situation is worsening and slipping out of hand.
It's a collective failure of the centre and state governments who only react to situations. The police are too ill equipped to handle this situation and there is fear that in no time there would be naxal CMs in many states who would hijack the polity and sabotage India within.

This is the result of the callousness of Indian politicians who are in power and are creating pockets of influence through vote banks built through quots and regionalism to safeguard the chairs.

Then who bothers about internal security and the threat from armed insurgents within?

The Union Home Ministry is only good at creating statistics and shows no vision as a pro-active department that can address these challenges. It's time that sensitive ministry had a clear overhaul to make alive to the challenges or merge it with the defence ministry with a department called Internal Defence .
